ROOM TOURS OF THE WEEK! Featuring War Memorial House, also known around campus as "Barrax". We are featuring a deluxe single room, regular single room and double room in Barrax this week. If your room type hasn't been posted yet, do not worry! There will be more room types posted all summer long!

Barrax pro tip: the time you may take walking up the hill to go to meal hall, you'll get it back when you need to head to Huggins for class, or the Athletics Complex! Barrax may be the furthest building from the dining hall, but it is the only residence at the bottom of the hill and is the closest residence to lots of academic buildings, and the gym! β€πŸ’™

Join us tomorrow, September 27th for our National Day of Truth and Reconciliation booth at Rhodes Hall from 3-5pm.

Every year, Canada marks the end of September for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home, Survivors of Residential Schools, as well as their families and communities for the harms that our government did to it's Indigenous Peoples.

Make sure to wear an Orange Shirt this Saturday, September 30th.
"Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of β€œEvery Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

On September 30, we encourage all Canadians to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools."

Second Semester book club is starting soon! is Habiba Cooper Diallo’s high school journal, in which she documents, processes, and resists the systemic racism, microaggressions, stereotypes, and outright racism she experienced in Canada’s education system.
Her words will resonate with some, but should shock, appall, and animate a great many more into action towards a society that is truly equitable for all.
Sign up via email to: [email protected] or [email protected] or via Instagram DM or and please ask to borrow one of our books if you wish to participate.

November's residence programming theme was Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. During November we asked our RAs to recognize and reflect on their cultural biases, educate themselves on inclusive langue and communication, introduce themselves to new cultures and areas of learning.

We went back through our collection and found some of the boards that were posted and have them here. We got a little behind in November, but it's never not a good time to educate yourself on these topics.
