When I was living in Japan I trained two large teams on two consecutive days on how to better work with their French partners. The first day was easy. The team was engaged, responsive and lively.

The second day was slow. This team was silent and I felt like I had to draw everything out of the participants. I felt drained. Nevertheless, I kept on going in my usual way.
At the end of this second day, they applauded and several participants came to thank me before they left. They gave a marvellous evaluation.

Three things I learned from this experience:
1. You do not know your impact on the room.
2. You should never let your assumptions influence your energy or your commitment.
3. They might all be introverts and that's fine.

Some recent scammer experience reminded me of a book I read a few years ago: Blink. The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell. After sharing my scam experience with others I realised that I am not alone. What saved me this time and will hopefully save me again next time is that I trusted my intuition. I felt something was off even though I could not really put my finger on it.

To prevent any of you from falling for a scam, I urge you to trust your intuition, your gut feeling, the decision you make in the blink of an eye.

Have you ever had to make a make a quick decision and had a gut feeling? This can be our subconscious mind taking over some of the thinking from our brain and allowing it to relax. It then analyses the situation and decides what it thinks is best.

The unconscious mind detects patterns and trends faster than our conscious, logical thinking. This is when we should trust our quick decision making.
