🏆 EUROPEAN 14&U CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF WITH JUNIOR SCHOOL 🧑‍🏫

Over 120 players and their coaches attended a special Tennis Europe Junior School last night, on the eve of the 48th European 14&U Under Championships in Most, Czechia.

The session focused on the theme of ‘Media’, and the players had fun during an interactive game show section, battling for supremacy during a ‘greatest hits’ of Junior School topics including nutrition, hydration, social media, warm-up, sponsors and even trending songs!

Designed to help prepare young athletes for life as professional tennis players, the School is the only educational programme to be endorsed by the sport's governing body, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the professional tours, the ATP and WTA.

♻️ TENNIS EUROPE COMMITS TO 'GREENTENNIS' INITIATIVE ♻️

The European Tennis Federation will take part in a 3-year Erasmus+ programme - 'Tennis for a Greener Future' - designed to enhance and promote environmental sustainability in the sport.

The pioneering initiative will include the implementation of sustainable practices across the tennis ecosystem and the use of innovative tools and technology to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of tennis activities.

Tennis Europe Vice-President Cem Tinaz commented, "Our goal is to transform tennis into a leading example of how sports can drive meaningful environmental change."

This week’s Junior Tour was packed with action! 🎾

At the Baublies Jugend Cup, Johann Nagel-Heyer 🇩🇪 and Tea Kovacevic 🇧🇦 took top honors. Meanwhile, at the Antonio Hernandez Cup in Barcelona, Ian Barroeta 🇪🇸 pulled off a surprise win over the top seed, and Sakino Miyazawa 🇯🇵 triumphed in an all-Japanese final.

The Small States Championships saw Cyprus players dominate, with Michael Genethliou and Andrea Georgiou Papakyriacou claiming the singles titles 🏆

🏆 Team Cyprus dominates the 2024 Small States Championships, sweeping all singles and doubles titles! 🇨🇾

The event, supported by the International Tennis Federation and FLT - Fédération luxembourgeoise de tennis, brought together top 14 & Under players from Europe’s smallest nations. Players trained under expert coaches, competed fiercely, and celebrated an inspiring week of tennis.

A special highlight: San Marino’s coach, Umberto Vanucci, returned 20 years after competing in the same event, now guiding the next generation 🙏

CZECH GIRLS’ 14&U TEAM WIN WORLD TEAM TITLE

With a season already full of accolades, the Czech 14&U girls’ team have asserted their dominance on the world stage.

Having already captured both European Junior team events, the Winter Cups and the Summer Cups, they have now won the ITF ‘World Junior Tennis Finals’.

This victory caps off a sublime year of team events for the Czechs, and was made even sweeter by winning on home soil in Prostejov.

• Czechia defeated the USA 2-1 in the final
• They have successfully defended their title from 2023
• Jana Kovackova was also part of last year’s winning team
• The Czechs are undefeated in team events this year

🏆 The 2024 ITF/Tennis Europe Small States Championships have kicked off at Luxembourg's National Tennis Center! 🇱🇺

The event offers top 14 & Under players from Europe's smallest nations a chance to earn Junior Tour ranking points, with all expenses covered. Players from Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, and San Marino are in Luxembourg to seize this unique opportunity.

In the next few days:

August 9-11 👉 the players will participate in a training camp led by ITF Development Officer Vitor Cabral, benefit from the expertise of seven coaches and attend the Tennis Europe Junior School.
August 12-15 👉 they will put their skills to the test at the official tournament 🎾

2 TENNIS EUROPE JUNIOR SCHOOL SESSIONS IN 1 WEEK

Week 31 on the has seen two Junior School sessions take place, touching on various topics.

• Dueren, GER 🇩🇪 14&U Super Category

Yesterday evening approximately 100 players attended the Junior School where the topics of “Tennis Ecosystem” and “Parents” were presented.

• Buzau, ROU 🇷🇴 14&U Cat.2

On Monday around 35 people attended the session in Romania. “Social Media” and “Tennis Ecosystem” were the choice of topics for the day.

Coming up in August will be a session at the Summer Cups Finals as well as at the Small States Championships in Luxembourg.

☀️ In what has been a spectacular kickoff to the European junior teams event, the G16 Zone C opening ceremony took place among this stunning backdrop on the medieval streets streets of the southern Aegean Sea island of Rhodes, Greece.

The event ushers in a big 3 days, over which the 16&U as well as 18&U qualifying rounds take place:

In Greece, national teams paraded in the picturesque streets offering a spectacle that impressed all attendees. It was the ideal backdrop for presenting the teams and welcoming them to Rhodes island.

In his speech, club President Mr. Vasilis Arapis, stated: "I would like to welcome all the members of the missions to Rhodes Island. For one more year, we have brought Rhodes to the centre of the European Junior Tennis, hosting the European Summer Cups under the auspices of the Hellenic Tennis Federation and Tennis Europe. I would like to thank our co-organizer, the Southern Aegean Region, and especially our Regional Governor Mr. George Hadzimarkos, who with his uninterrupted support allows us to organize large sporting events in Rhodes. Also, let us thank the Municipality of Rhodes for granting us this historic area of the Medieval City for the presentation of the teams. Wishing all the athletes a good games and inviting you all to visit the club and watch some of tomorrow's stars!”

Hot off the heels of last week’s triumphant B16 Zone B qualifying alongside the Hamburg ATP 500 event, comes the next phase of the Qualies.

This week it is the turn of the younger players who, over the next four days, will participate in the qualifying competition for the 12 & Under European Summer Cups by Dunlop.

Last week was a busy one on the TEJT calendar, with the first ever Summer Cups qualifying round held alongside an ATP event 🇩🇪, while Category 1 action took place in Annecy 🇫🇷

At the Summer Cups qualies in Hamburg, the players got to experience the iconic atmosphere of professional events. The German boys were cheered by hundreds, if not thousands, of spectators during the three days of competition. In the final they triumphed over Portugal, securing a spot in the finals in Le Touquet. There, the two teams will compete for a place in the Junior Davis Cup in November 🏆

In Annecy, Takahiro Kawaguchi of Japan and Yeseo Park of Korea claimed the 14&U titles. Kawaguchi impressed with a comeback victory in the final, while Park made a stunning TEJT debut by defeating top-seeded opponents 🤝🏼

The Wimbledon 14&U Invitational is off and running at the All-England Club!

In action are contenders in the Race to Monte-Carlo, including Megan Knight 🇬🇧 and Stan Put 🇳🇱 as well as Race leaders Jana Kovackova 🇨🇿 and Eric Lorimer 🇬🇧 , all of whom are pictured below. Now in its third year, the 14&U Invitational event kicks off with a round-robin stage consisting of 4 groups. Each group winner will advance to the SF playoffs for a spot in the coveted final. The recent Tennis Europe Junior Tour event at Raynes Park in London was one of the qualifying events.

🇨🇾 CYPRUS TO HOST 2024 EUROPEAN COACHES CONFERENCE 🇨🇾

Leading coaches from Europe's national tennis federations will meet in Ayia Napa, Cyprus from 31st October to 3rd November for the 46th edition of the event.

Among those due to attend are Cypriot tennis legend and former ATP Top 10 star Marcos Baghdatis, who will engage in a Question & Answer session with the coaches.
