PLAINPLEIN: A food market and a cultural center at the heart of the city !
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
CORAL STUDIO is very happy to be able to communicate on having won the MEP for the first stage of Geneva’s 2050, which focuses on the evolution of the Plaine de Plainpalais.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The winning project, « PLAINPLEIN », is a territorial architecture which naturally extends the « open field » when one comes from the main train station ; the public can walk on the roof of the building and access an upper « piazza », which is at a reasonable height (lower than the trees that surround Plainpalais), to then join the multipurpose cultural center, which will host concerts, exhibitions, conferences, shows and all kinds of public events ; this is a contemporary add-on to the Victoria Hall, Grand Théâtre and Bâtiment des Forces Motrices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The basement of the building is connected to the existing parking levels. One level will be dedicated to the logistics of the markets, stores, and the cultural center, while another will offer additional parking space to the parking and thus compensate a decrease of the number of outdoor parking spaces in the area, to improve the quality of the public-space.

More information coming soon !

#2022
Hi there! My name is Léa. Originally from Marseille, I spent my childhood in Brazil, which gave me a taste for travel and communication.
Later, after two university exchanges in Granada and São Paolo, I obtained my master's degree in organizational communication.
My first experience in sales in Paris introduced me to customer relations. I then landed in Annecy, where I was able to put my communications and project management skills to good use.
I joined CORAL STUDIO two years ago as office manager. I now wear three hats as executive assistant, HR manager, and happy manager, which allow me to take care of both our team and our clients.
Like a fighting fish, I know when to step up to tackle any obstacle for the well-being of my colleagues and the smooth operation of our projects.

Do you remember this challenge we took on to create Wolf Project 's in-store display? Here's a close up of these super USM Modular Furniture units, whose main characteristic is their incredible modularity!
Here, we took advantage of their new range of products, integrating potted plants into the shelving structure to create a nice, tidy jungle!

Dive into Design History and learn about the 60's trends!
At the beginning of the 1960s, a sense of euphoria, due to the booming economy and flourishing job markets, were grounds for an optimistic vision of the future. Minds were disrupted from social, cultural and political shifts, as this new reality made everything seem possible – including in the realm of artistic design.
Stability and functionality were left aside in favor of higher levels of creativity and sensuality. Plastic was quick to be hailed as the ideal material for creating and re-creating colorful and flexible worlds, as it enabled cheap products to be commercialized on a large scale, a strategy that namely benefited Italian industries and design firms.
Shapes now adapted to bodies and to their curves, whereas space exploration became a theme of inspiration for rounded interiors. Glass, metal and wood meshed with PVC to create an infinite variety of styles, marking an end to the gloomy post-war era.
Here are some iconic products of the 1960s design:

Let’s take a look at the packaging we made for JAYA , a unique prosecco brand we’ve worked with since 2020. We wanted to keep a certain simplicity of design to highlight the product: smart and elegant but also delicate for a product of quality.
Did you notice the hidden glass in the logo? We wanted to subtly insert it into the new typography.
Mission accomplished!

It's definition time! Today we look at embossing.
This is the method of pressing an image into paper or card stock to create a three dimensional design. Text, logos, and other images can all be formed through the method of embossing.

Newly graduated architect from EPFL, originally from Grenoble, my name is Julien. I began at CORAL STUDIO in April 2020 as a junior architect.
I like plants, especially sunflowers and roses. I love nature and what transforms it. I like to think that architecture is a beautiful manifesto of that passion.

Quote of the day! Japanese architect Tadao Ando once said, "I don't believe architecture has to speak too much. It should remain silent and let nature in the guise of sunlight and wind." We couldn't agree more.

Time for SWISS FACTS! Clean, structured, functional, and reasonable: a look back at the development of the Swiss style.
At the beginning of the 20th century, artisans and printers were responsible for the production of signs, letterheads, and layouts. Aiming to improve the technical and formal quality of these products, Basel and Zurich quickly became two centers of learning and training that would give birth to modern graphic design.
In the 50s, figures like Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder in Basel, and Hans Neuburg and Josef Müller-Brockmann in Zurich, contributed to the establishment of the graphic design style known as the “Swiss style.” The idea behind it? That design should be as invisible as possible, and that the designer’s subjectivity should be surrendered to the content. This approach has been a successful Swiss export and is now found all over the world.
In practice, the Swiss style is implemented through asymmetrical layouts with sans-serif fonts (like Max Miedinger’s famous 1957 Helvetica) whose characters are generally assembled and placed strategically. Photographs are preferred to illustrations, and a mathematical grid is used to determine where to place graphic elements. Most often, the finished products convey an analytic simplicity and give the observer a sense of coherence across form and color.
Adorning the entrances to New York subway as well as the platforms of the SBB CFF FFS, the Swiss style seems to be timeless.
Solid, precise, concise. This symbiosis is dear to CORAL STUDIO, as we also honor the search for harmony between form, communication, and design.
