This magnificent song, known all around the world thanks to the various versions by the famous duo Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, was originally written just after the end of the Second World War, under the hot skies of June 1945…
As the year 2023 draws to a close, let us pray for peace and sharing, and for all those moments – great or small – spent over a good meal with family or friends, but also for new encounters and open-mindedness... And what could be better than a fine bottle of wine, whatever the region, the vintage or the price, as long as it brings smiles and pleasure?
I can tell you that here at Baghera/wines we have thoroughly enjoyed putting together this December sale, the last sale of the year, made up of wines from three
independent cellars. We are, of course, very familiar with the wines, whose provenance and conservation are absolutely perfect, especially since the vast majority were bought directly from the estates/châteaux. You can delve in with absolute confidence.
I’ll leave it to you to explore the wines from these magnificent cellars, which will be the stuff of dreams for Swiss wine lovers; great Burgundies with some magnificent mature assortments from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti as well as a splendid vertical of Clos de Tart that is over 25 years old, wines from Domaine Ghislaine Barthod to be discovered, not forgetting Bordeaux with the rare cases of Duclot, including the highly sought-after Carré d’As 2000 in magnums, along with a few gems from Emmanuel Reynaud…
So if these few lines haven’t convinced you to get your corkscrew ready at once, I hope they will at least leave you with this delightful refrain in your ears and a smile on your face.

Here's a fine house that we at Baghera/wines particularly admire: Domaine P-Y. Colin-Morey. Not only because we truly love all the Domaine's cuvées,
and the care and attention given to the wines – the sparkle and quiet strength they exude – but also because we really appreciate the values of the Domaine and the family, as we had the joy of working with for several months last year. You've no doubt had the pleasure of tasting the wines of Domaine PYCM (in whole or in part), the fabulous climats worked by Caroline Morey or the bottles from the family trading house that go under the name of Colin-Morey: the terroirs naturally bring different styles, but there's a common thread running through the wines of the Colin-Morey family, a similar purity, energy and elegance. In short, the hallmarks of great Burgundy wines.

And as always with the men and women of the vine and wine, generosity and sharing are at the heart of the values and actions that unite us. When we invited the Colin-Morey family to take part in the “A beautiful day” sale on 8 October, we were not entrusted with just a few bottles, but with a previously unseen collection of around sixty bottles, magnums and a jeroboam of the domaine's iconic vintages from 2017 to 2020. Direct from the cellars of the gleaming Chassagne-Montrachet winery, we are delighted to offer lots of the rare Bâtard-Montrachet and Corton-Charle- magne, the Meursault ‘Perrières’ & ‘Charmes’, the prodigious Chassagne ‘Caillerets’, ‘Chevenottes’ and ‘Abbaye de Morgeot’, as well as the emblematic and marvellous Saint- Aubin ‘En Rumilly’.

There was that first meeting in 2005. It wasn't at a dinner party or an in situ tasting, but in the hustle and bustle of a major trade show, where one meets dozens of people every day. But this encounter made a lasting impression on me. Although we didn't have a glass of wine nor any food on our plates, the lively conversation on Bordeaux wines was of the same nature, just as – if not more – passionate and intense as if we were sitting at a table discussing the wine in our glasses.

“To drink wine means to be able to talk about it” – that meeting in 2005 left a lasting impression on me, because it embodied this adage in every way. And the person I met that day has invariably made me feel that way each time we've met since.

The remarkable collection of fine Bordeaux wines that we are delighted to present in the “A beautiful day” series of sales (the live room auction is to be held on 8 October and the online sale will take place 9 October) is the perfect expression of this gentleman's passion. We met him in 2005, and in 2023 he is doing us the honour of entrusting us with the apple of his eye: his collection of fine Bordeaux wines (and a few other gems, notably from the Loire).

“The remarkable collection of fine Bordeaux wines that we are delighted to present in the “ A beautiful day ” series of sales (8 and 9 October) is the perfect expression of this gentleman's passion. We met him in 2005, and in 2023 he is doing us the honour of entrusting us with the apple of his eye: his collection of fine Bordeaux wines (and a few other gems, notably from the Loire).
Naturally, there's passion: it's been the beating heart of this collection for over 40 years. All the most admirable vintages of the last four decades are assembled among the thousands of bottles that make up this rare collection.
There's respect and admiration for the terroirs and the people who make the wine: this collection is the fruit of sincere and lasting relationships between a number of estates on both banks of Bordeaux and some of the greatest La Place négociants, which have given rise to some highly sought-after wines in coveted vintages and ultra-rare formats!
Then there's the constant care and attention: having travelled several hundred kilometres from Bordeaux, all the bottles, without exception, were kept in their original wooden cases in an air-conditioned cellar with perfectly controlled temperature and humidity. Under the rigorous and benevolent supervision of the collector, owner of these bottles, the wines have lain, since their successive arrivals, vintage after vintage, without ever having been moved. The only handling authorised was the removal of the wooden cases by the Baghera/wines team last spring to transport the precious convoy to the Geneva FreePorts.“

When philanthropy and wine come together…

The BSB Foundation was established in 2014 with the realization that 20 % of its students were actually requiring financial support; 
it sets its goals around 3 main objectives: 
Excellence, Equality, Entrepreneurship.

It has since delivered more than 500 scholarships thanks to the support of many sponsors, companies and alumni alike.

With the continued need for more financial support, it was natural that the wine community was a good place to partner with since one of .business_school’s main strategic focus’ has come to be through its dedicated institution of worldwide reference, the .winespirits School of Wine & Spirits Business.

Thanks to 2 members of the Foundation Executive Committee, Jeremy Seysses and Antoine Prudent, we created a “Donor Wine Club” reaching out to the wine community and looking at ways to raise funds to support our students. Leveraging their network, they came up with the idea of a fundraising event through a wine auction leading us to today’s first and finest edition: “I (wine) a dream”.

Thankyou to all the generous donors for their prestigious wine! And thankyou to Baghera/wines for making it possible through their platform, and for allowing philanthropy and wine to come together!

From a single owner French collection, the remarkable quality of the bottles (levels, labels, original packaging) testifies to the great care and attention lavished by the cellar's owner on these pampered flasks, some of them over 40 years old. This collection includes less than 14 cases Collection Duclot, 30 lots of Château d'Yquem (including number of double-magnums and imperial Château d'Yquem (including number of double-magnums and imperial Château d'Yquem), 237 flacons of Petrus 1982 to 2013 (many in large formats or cases of 6 bottles), without forget the very rare and sought Le Pin of which a hundred of flacons are proposed to amateurs, all particularly iconic 1989, offered in bottles, jeroboams and imperial.

🍇Part 2
A beautiful trip in Burgundy - Lots 411 to 523

The Burgundy section of this catalog opens with a splendid selection directly sourced from the cellars of one of the greatest Burgundy white wine domains - Pierre Yves Colin-Morey. Thanks to their outstanding provenance, these wines epitomize the excellence of Burgundy whites (Lots 411 to 443).
Continuing on from this impressive beginning, a Burgundy cellar - impeccably preserved - having been composed of bottles directly sourced from the producers, and that never leaft their native Burgundy until finding their way into the secure vaults of the Geneva FreePorts (Lots 444 to 499).
Concluding this catalogue are two private collections of wines from a Vosne estate who we truly appreciate. The small quantities produced by the domaine make them a rare find on the market, and even more so when you discover the more mature vintages where the full complexity of the Côte de Nuits is revealed (Lots 500 to 523).

This dinner-tasting will feature two continents, two emblematic regions of international renown, two iconic estates and two visions of wine: Klein Constantia estate (The Cape, South Africa) and Château Angelus (Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux). Two properties on opposite sides of the world, but where innovation, experimentation and even the overthrow of tradition are equally accepted.

Hans Astrom, Director and co-owner of Klein Constantia, has honored us with his presence at this dinner. He will be presenting a fine selection of wines & vintages chosen specifically for this occasion to match the wines of Château Angelus, selected by Anna Tkachenko-Marie (European Export Manager), who will also be present to enlighten us on the illustrious Saint-Emilion estate in the hands of the de Boüard family (the link between these 2 estates being, you guessed it, Hubert de Boüard).
