The Swiss Glaucoma Research Foundation has recently won a clinical photography competition organised by the World Glaucoma Association in Melbourne, with a fundus picture of ocular decompression retinopathy following deep sclerectomy.
The original picture can be found in former fellow, Dr Lauriane Salinas' case report (doi: 10.1097/IJG.0000000000000870). Congratulations to her!

On the 18th of November 2018, Assoc. Prof. Kaweh Mansouri and Prof. André Mermoud were with Dr Piet Noé in Kigali to inaugurate the Rwanda Charity Eye Hospital. A 100-bed charity hospital built and funded by several ophthalmology Foundations to provide eye care and specialist training in a country that counts only 18 ophthalmologists for a population of 12 million.

The Swiss Glaucoma Research Foundation was attenting the annual conference of the Société Suisse d'Ophtalmologie, in Fribourg, on the 30th and 31st of August 2018.
Amongst other talks, we presented the 6-month results of a new surgical technique designed by Prof. André Mermoud at Clinique de Montchoisi, Lausanne, to manage refractory glaucoma : a XEN-augmented Baerveldt tube.
The presentation below is in French and by Dr Giorgio Enrico Bravetti, on an original study by Dr Giorgio Enrico Bravetti, Dr Kevin Gillmann, Prof assoc. Kaweh Mansouri, Prof. André Mermoud.

This rare and beautiful picture is a microscopic view of the tip of an explanted XEN tube, showing clear obstruction with dense fibrous tissue.
