The reconstruction of our SWISS KRONO show module is progressing…

This is part II of our mini series about the SHOW MODULE renovation.

The walls, floor and ceiling of the show module are made of solid MAGNUMBOARD® OSB.

The particularly emission-reduced SWISS KRONO OSB/3 sensitive EN300 made of poplar and the flame-retardant SWISS KRONO OSB/3 stop fire EN300 offer solutions for special challenges and have also found their place in the new show module.

As an enormous advantage the OSB boards offer the possibility of direct interior coating, which is demonstrated with different materials like our ecological wall panel BE.YOND ecoWALL or our sound absorbing acoustic ceiling SWISSCLIC PANEL.

It's time for a new look ...

for our SWISS KRONO show module.

This is PART I of our mini-series on the renovation process.

To date, more than 2,000 people have visited our show module. Whether at trade fairs, architecture events or at the individual stops of our summer roadshow - the SWISS KRONO show module has been used many times over the past few years and has enabled us to present our product portfolio in a vivid way.

Now it was time to further develop the show module and give it a comprehensive update that appeals to all the senses.

Inspired by the idea of tiny houses, the SWISS KRONO show module is built with our OSB boards and allows product presentations in the smallest of spaces. We have developed a concept that demonstrates the versatility and performance of modern wood-based materials in an exciting way.

The Coalition for Timber Construction has just released a groundbreaking study on the utilization of wood as a sustainable building material in Germany.

The results are a mix of sobering reality and optimistic potential: Wood consumption for construction has quadrupled since 2020, a significant leap. However, timber construction still only represents three percent of the total construction in Germany, trailing behind other European countries.

Our commitment to the COALITION for TIMBER CONSTRUCTION drives us to advocate for increased support for wooden construction, aiming for a transformative shift in the industry. There's much work ahead, and we're ready to take it on!

SWISS KRONO goes UK ConstructionWeek @‌uk_cw 🏗

From October 3rd to 5th, Birmingham will be the center of the UK construction scene and for the first time we will also present our innovative and sustainable building materials OSB and OSB MAGNUMBOARD.

We are talking a lot about trends but where do they actually come from?

Our interior trends are more than arbitrary changes in colors and materials. They are based on socio-cultural and societal developments that shape our living environments. They are more about human needs than design ideas.

For defining longer-term interior trends that outlast short-lived changes in taste, we are working with experts like Kees Elands from Trendsactive who exactly know what is shaping current trends.

Currently these are for example changes in the way we live and work and an increasing awareness of sustainability and our health. Our new 39 ONE WORLD decors are based on these trends and reflect them in natural materials and soft colors within the trend Conscious Home represented by our new decors Heyday Beige or Woven Cream.

We talked with Heike about her expertise and she shared her tips with us:

Which textures are best suited to which areas?

Coniferous woods combined with modern terrazzo can fill an entrance area with a wonderful joie de vivre. Oak, on the other hand, has a down-to-earthness. Particularly when it is combined with sandstone, it makes a great partner for cooking, dining and living areas. Organic shapes and colors from Biophilic Design emphasize the healthy living atmosphere. Chestnut, combined with motivating quartzite and adaptable felt looks, is perfect for places where concentration is called for, like work areas. Basically, however, everyone should be free to live out their own style.

What makes interior design balanced?

Our world is changing and sustainable thinking has now become a key factor in interior design. This means that furnishings should, above all else, be flexible and adaptable. To achieve this, both the design and the function of a room need to be tailored to people’s needs. In general terms, structures, colors, textures and light should create a harmonious balance in the interior.

A cozy home with a minimal footprint.

The architectural challenge of Tiny Houses is to accommodate the necessary essentials in a small, compact and space-saving way while, at the same time, creating a place that feels like a home.

This was achieved in architect Sam Bohr’s “Klötzchen” using SWISS KRONO OSB MAGNUMBOARD. The MAGNUMBOARD module sizes (2.8 m x 15 m), the regional origin of the wood used for the OSBs and the good insulation properties that safe space ensure that there are very few limits when it comes to the innovative construction of tiny houses.

Where do you keep finding your inspiration as a designer?

The beautiful thing is that the world itself is one single source of inspiration. You just have to keep your eyes open: Nature, but also new impressions that you glean when traveling, in interactions or art is hugely inspiring.

More than 400m3 of SWISS KRONO OSB MAGNUMBOARDS …

have been installed in our Design Station in Wittstock.

Made from the Mark Brandenburg pine, SWISS KRONO OSB consists of around 95% thinned wood from sustainably managed forests, while the wood strands are bonded with 100% formaldehyde-free glue resin.

This makes SWISS KRONO OSB boards a sustainable wooden building material that provides a healthy living climate not only in our Design Stations but also e.g. as

- a building panel in shell construction,

- building element in timber frame construction,

- wall or roof cladding in interior construction or

- sub floor panels in flooring.

Building with wood in urban spaces

This was the overall topic of the 4th German Timber Construction Congress taking place July 4-5th in Berlin.

Next to over 730 participants from the building industry, architects and politics, we also proudly took part in inspiring talks, award presentations and sharing our expertise for the wooden future of the building sector.
