Les Archives du Montreux Palace 🗝️📖

À l'occasion de la 69ème Coupe des Nations de rink-hockey, la plus ancienne compétition du genre au monde, qui se déroule ce weekend à Montreux (à la Salle Omnisports du Pierrier), nous replongeons dans nos archives ! En effet, de sa création en 1921 jusqu'aux années 70, cette compétition se tenait dans le Petit Palais du Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, autrefois connu sous le nom de "Palais des Sports".

En 1910, quatre ans après l'inauguration du Montreux Palace, Alexandre Emery, le promoteur de l'hôtel, décide de construire un nouveau bâtiment dans les jardins de l'établissement pour proposer plus d'activités aux clients. Ainsi naît le Palais des Sports, doté du plus grand skating-rink de Suisse, d'une galerie de tir au flobert, de 3 allées de bowling et d'un tea-room. Dès son ouverture, le premier club suisse de rink-hockey y est fondé et tous les matchs de rink-hockey en Suisse s'y déroulent pendant de nombreuses années.
