Creative Flows
Outdoor @ Wipkingerpark (with dry weather)
A guided jam with a new flow every week 🥳
Get the most out of July before we’ll go on summer break in August ☀️ we are looking forward to flying with you!
Support & empower ✨
We have taught this little flow after yesterday‘s Women‘s March 💪🏼 it has many elements that can feel empowering to (new) bases & give a great sense of support for flyers.
Flow: Handstand entry to Whale - Pop to Throne - Baby Bird - Straddle Throne - Secretary - Backbird - Turn & Handstand out (to the side or to the top as an extra challenge).
Before we started our jam last night we also had a brief & open conversation about what it can mean to be a woman doing AcroYoga. Unfortunately, sexism & inappropraite behavior does not stop at the boarders of our AcroYoga communities & it is so important that we do not ignore & raise awareness about:
❌ lack of mutual consent about the process and next steps taken in an AcroYoga practice & beyond (e.g. „let me just pop you into this pose“ without waiting for consent)
❌ inappropriate & hurtful comments about the appearance of someone doing AcroYoga (e.g. „you are too heavy to fly this“ without even being involved in the practice with that person, e.g. from a teacher)
❌ biased & uninformed comments based on the appearance of someone doing AcroYoga (e.g. „you are not strong enough to base this“ without even giving it a try)
These kind of situations do not only happen to women of course… but they seem to be more common when you are a woman.
💛 So let us instead cultivate to support & empower each other to find strength, ease & fun in our practice together. Let‘s tell each other openely if we are feeling uncomfortable without ever being judged. Let‘s lift each other up! 💪🏼
Strong women lift each other up! 💪🏼
We are doing it again this year! Join us on Monday, June 14 for an AcroYoga Women Jam after the Women‘s March, 20.30 @ Bäckeranlage ☺️🙌🏼
Class at is canceled. Join us outside ☀️
Looking forward to seeing many of you there 👯♀️💛

Out of your comfort zone ✨
We all have been there: A new sensation hits you, something different and probably dangerous. Your body moving in unknown ways, upside down, high up or generally all over the place. What is happening?!
You get all alert, your body and mind are resisting. This is where we enter an interesting space 🥰
From your comfort zone (usually safely standing on the ground) you step into a different space, the panic zone most probably at first, where the panic is real and you feel overwhelmed and paralyzed.
You might jump out of the posture right away only to attempt it again step by step, dealing with the initial panic in small quantities slowly converting that panic zone into a learning zone, in which you feel challenged but not overpowered by your fears.
A productive zone of growth, built to teach you how to deal with discomfort.
A skill and practice not only valuable in AcroYoga but something to accompany you from the mat right into your daily life, helping you to judge situations (is this comfort, learning or panic zone?) and handle them like a badass AcroYogi a new transition.
(Inner) gaze ✨
Where does your gaze go when you are upside down? Do you look into the direction you are about to flow? Do you look back to the position you are coming from? Or does it after all go inwards? 😊
Observe yourself during the practice and see what following your gaze with your mind can teach you.
Where does your focus go, your awareness, your eyes and your thoughts? Why not treat AcroYoga like a meditation - observing and learning? 🤓
Remember that where your focus, your awareness, your inner gaze goes, this is where energy flows 💛
Embracing the unknown ✨
When learning a new AcroYoga skill, it’s very likely that you won’t get all the moves and transitions right from the start. Especially when the flyer is turned upside down and in all possible directions, it’s easy to loose the overview 🤯
Whenever you are in a situation like this, whern you are like “what’s going on here?” try to enjoy this for a moment instead of getting frustrated ☺️ why? Because once you understand & get all the moves, you can never go back to this state of not knowing. The best part is ghe moment when you reach the state of knowing, when it suddenly clicks & your mind and body understands where it needs to go ✨
Embracing the unknown is part of your learning process - don’t rush through it and try to soak up everything you can learn in this phase 🤗 about the poses, yourself, and about those around you.
Do you embrace the unknown?

Keep up the good vibes ✨
//
We miss you guys so much 🤗 hoping that you are doing well. How are you keeping up the good Acro vibes during the pandemic? We recommend to:
//
⭐️ Create a list of Acro skills you want to aim for once you are back at training!
⭐️ Re-watch your favorite flows & redo them in your mind
⭐️ Catch up with your Acro buddies
⭐️ Keep your body in shape with cardio, stretching & strengthening
//
We are looking forward to hearing from you how you are keeping up with your practice ☺️ hopefully see you soon again at beautiful Más Energy Center or outdoors!
//
Greetings 💛 Tanja, Flo, Albert & Lisa
//
Connection at first touch ✨
//
Have you ever noticed that there sometimes are people you practice AcroYoga with where it just flows naturally right from the start? You connect your hands and immediately dissolve into one entity and communicate seemlesly. There’s no discussion needed, no trust to be built up, it’s all there right away. We like to call this “connection at first touch” ✨
//
Just like love at first sight, this doesn’t happen too often 🙈 most pairs or groups of practitioners need to get to know each other first, build up trust, need to understand the other persons style and querks ☺️
but slowly over time the connection between them is getting strong and stronger to the point where you feel that verbal communication becomes less and less & you start to communicate non-verbally - as if your hearts have started to connect as well 💛
//
When you reach this point and listen carefully, you will start to actually feel the other persons emotions while practicing - fear, joy, curiosity, confusion, pride. Look out for this as well when doing AcroYoga if you want expand this practice - because we truly believe that AcroYoga is not just a physical practice but it can teach us so much about ourselves and others as well ✨
//
Acro Vocabulary ✨
//
Can you remember all the names of the poses you like to flow through? ☺️ Do you know how the individual transitions or flows are called?
//
A lot of people seem to think that knowing your vocabulary right in AcroYoga is overrated. But we don’t think so ❌ Especially, when things get a bit messy up in the air, it is comforting to know that you can just shout the next pose and your co-practitioner will understand where to go or what to expect 🤗
//
Moreover, knowing the names of different poses and being able to recognize them will help you immensely when breaking down fancy flows seen in videos in order to learn them by yourself. Think of it this way: Learning Acro vocabulary is like learning a new language with your body 🤩

A good Acroyogi* ✨
//
What is a good Acroyogi*? Someone who can hold their shape like a rock? Someone very flexible like a circus artist 🤸♀️ and strong like an Olympic weightlifter? 💪🏼
//
Nahh 🙈. We think a good Acroyogi* is somebody who can base or fly absolutely ✨ANYONE✨ and is able to meet other practitioners at their respective level. No need to push beginners into difficult poses but being able to play with them in a realm that might be challenging but never overwhelming and completely off limits.
//
A good Acroyogi* encourages beginners and makes them feel comfortable. With advanced practitioners a good Acroyogi* can be creative as well as adventurous but never risky.
//
What do you think? Are you a good Acroyogi*? ☺️🙌🏼
//
Guidance ✨
//
Do you know these moments when an advanced practitioner comes and plays with you? ☺️ Someone showing up with a plan and hell lot of confidence? You on the other hand are unsure about the plan, its risks and mostly your own abilities 🤷🏼♀️.
//
True magic happens when this someone - without showing off or overestimating themselves but with calm determination and secure trust in what they are doing - sets things in motion, opens doors to new mental landscapes 🧚🏼
//
Such people trust themselves which allows them to trust you to the point that things start flowing smoothly and - to your own surprise - you start trusting yourself too 🥰. The calm confidence of this person seems to naturally tip over to you, guiding you, transforming you ✨
//
And sometimes maybe in a whole other aspect of life you will later find that someone to be you, gifting the same wonder to somebody else 🤗, inspired by those that took you by the hand before.
//
We think of that imaginary line of people taking each other by the hand 👩🏻🤝👨🏾, guiding each other to do and be more each time we are acting as that guiding someone - passing on the knowledge and wisdom that we have learned in the past. That’s when we think back gratefully to the people that taught and guided us in turn. An endless chain of gratefulness and guidance 💛

The only constant in life is change ✨
//
Our world is turned upside down - and we need to adapt constantly. New measures are in place in Switzerland starting tomorrow - everything closes after 7pm, including yoga studio - & this time we need your help on our decision about how to adapt to this change. There are two options:
1️⃣ - Continue with the inversions classes from 18.30-19.30 but only online (no studio presence possible)
2️⃣ - Move the inversions class to 18.00-19.00 and still have the possibility to attend in person.
//
Please let us know in the comments what you would prefer 🙏🏼 thanks so much for your help 💛
//

Body memory ✨
//
Do you know this feeling when your feet just know what to do, your hands just know where to hold and you are just swirling around. The moment you try to deconstruct what exactly you are doing and start to use your brain, it stops working 🙈
//
Sometimes we just need to let things flow, feel our way from move to move and trust that our body knows what to do. Many times, we wouldn’t consciously know where to put our weight, which leg to bend, how to roll in or how to move, but our body memory does 💪🏼
//
Also after weeks of not practicing AcroYoga in a situation like the current one, we can count on our body memory to know more than we do and guide us back into the practice. Isn’t it amazing to have knowledge safely stored in your body without you having to consciously think about it? 🤓 Isn’t it comforting to know that in your own body, in your muscle memory you have an ally? 🥰
//
Snake charmer flow ✨
//
This one reminded us of a snake moving around 🙈 the shadows in the back are also a perfect fit, so here you go with another one of our 🥳 the hardest part is to find a name that fits and sticks 😅 if you know a better name, please let us know :)
//
Flow: Maria - Straddle Throne on Hands - Back Bird - Squat on Shin - Free Shoulderstand - Maria

Autumn Flow 🍂 🍁
//
Another one of our ☺️ we got inspired by the current season slowly disappearing, all the leaves falling from trees in slow motion and the smell of snow and ice in the air. We hope you like this little washingmachine 🤗 tag us if you try it!
//
Flow: Backbend Entry into Star - Reverse Baby Bird - Reverse Jesus - Standing on Hamstrings 🙈 - Supported Backbend - Step to Star
//
Drunken Cork Screw ✨
//
A bit later than usually but nevertheless a challenging flow for you this week ☺️ it‘s like cork screw but we screwed up the sides 🙈 have fun with this flow of our & let us know how it goes :)
//
Flow: Reverse Bird - Side Star - Reverse Star - Side Star - Reverse Bird
//
Bodies in communication ✨
//
Your body language is the most direct and most honest way of communication. It’s incorruptible. And that’s one thing that makes AcroYoga such an interesting practice. Your body tells us immediately if you are relaxed or tense, in pain or feeling comfortable – no matter what you say. You can tell us “I’m feeling great up here!” but your body might speak a different language.
//
Since the body is in full focus (and action) in AcroYoga, existential feelings like fear, tension or comfort come to the surface often and are difficult to hide. With time you learn how to work with these feelings.
//
Noticing them in a flyer or base you are practicing with teaches you so much about reading bodies, reacting to them and making people comfortable, and so much of this happens on a non-verbal layer 💛

Catapult Flow ✨
//
Uhh... that one was a lot of fun but also took as quite some time to get it right 🙈 but here it is: a new flow in the for your inspiration that starts with a boom 💥 have fun trying :)
//
Flow: „Double Egg“ - Catapult to Reverse Shoulderstand - Inside Star (one side)- Shoulderstand - Inside Star (other side) - Back Bend - Reverse Shoulderstand - Double Egg
//
Cycle 04 - Go with the flow
//
Week 4 - Pick Pocket 😎
//
This washingmachine is really flowy 🥰 the flyer gets turned around multiple times & typically doesn’t really know what’s happening 🙈 a lot of coordination for the base is needed, but not (so) hard to remember.
//
Rule #1: Foot placement for the base is always toes to toes, heels to heels
Rule #2: Switch hand connections whenever the flyer & base are facing each other.
It’s as simple as that 😁 have fun with this classic washingmachine! Oh and have a look at the video & figure out why it is called “pick pocket” 😉
//
Flow: Bird - Reverse Inside Star - Back Bend - Inside Star - Reverse Bird - Inside Star (other leg, like Ninja Star) - Backbend - Reverse Inside Star - Bird
//
Find more detailed instructions on our website acroyoga-essentials.com 💛
//
Mandala Flow ✨
//
A first of a series of signature flows that we will be posting here every week to make your forced AcroYoga break a little bit better 💛 this one is a short one but has some tricky and interesting parts 🙂 check it out & create your own video with this flow, tag us and we will analyze & give you feedback 🙏🏼 let us see how you manage 💪🏼

Flow: Straddle Throne - Reverse Inside Star - Reverse Vishnus Couch - “Half Whale” - Roll up to Straddle Throne —> repeat on the other side
