🎵 Happy Birthday Violeta Parra!

Every October 4th, celebrates the 'Chilean Music Day', an occasion that takes place on the birthday of , one of the greatest icons in the country.

Violeta Parra was born on a day like today in 1917 in the Ñuble Region. She was an artist recognized as one of the main of and a great promoter of popular music. Her songs have been covered by several Chilean and foreign artists.

But Violeta Parra was not only a noted singer-songwriter. She also excelled as a sculptor, embroiderer and ceramist. In fact, she was the first artist, and the first woman, to hold a solo exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs du Palais du Louvre in Paris (1964), where she exhibited her works in sackcloth, oil paintings and sculptures. Violeta also made other artistic exhibitions, for example, in the first versions of the Chilean Plastic Arts Fair (1959 and 1960), and in Buenos Aires (1961).

Violeta Parra's contribution to and art is unanimously considered of enormous value and transcendence.
