Koree, a Cameroonian Fintech Emerges as Winner of the 2023 Ecobank Fintech Challenge!

Koree from Cameroon is the competition’s first ever female-led fintech winner having beaten eight other finalists to claim the top prize of $50,000; Wolf Technology from Democratic Republic of Congo came in second, winning $10,000, while Kenya’s Flexpay Technologies were the second runner-up, taking home $5,000; the 2023 edition drew participation from over 1,400 fintechs spanning 64 countries.

Pan-African Banking Group, Ecobank Group, has announced Koree, a fintech company based in Cameroon, as the overall winner of the 2023 Ecobank Fintech Challenge. The announcement was made by a distinguished panel of judges during the competition’s Grand Finale at the bank’s headquarters at the Pan African Centre in Lomé, Togo.

Cameroon-based early-stage fintech Bohikor has secured $20.000 from Mountain Angel Network to expand.

The start-up - founded in 2021- offers financial management solutions, including budgeting, tracking, savings, early earned wage access and personal finance coaching.

The fintech believes knowing what one spends money on gives a sense of accountability, and its platform assists in planning a healthy financial future through tracking and budgeting.

Two Cameroonian students win prestigious Presidential Prize for designing revolutionary education app.

Afopezi Moses and Kengni Mbou Emilie, students of the National Advanced School of Posts and Telecommunications Yaounde, won this year’s National Prize for Cameroon Students Ingenuity and Talent Contest (GETEC), after designing a revolutionary education application called Skolar.

Their mobile application won the 1st general prize out of 89 teams from 54 state and private universities, which participated in the completion.

Skolar, the app they designed, allows students access notes online, past Examination questions and solutions for GCE, OBC, and Concours in Cameroon, respectively, helping them better prepare for these exams.
