MOST COMMON MISTAKES NEW TRADERS MAKE

RISK MANAGEMENT
The first thing I teach my new students is RISK MANAGEMENT. My trading changed the day I understood the implication of trading a 0.1 lot size on a 200$ trade account. I tell them there is no need to be a trader if you don't follow risk management because you will never make money in this business. Risk management is indispensable for success in trading.

RECORD, REPORT, AND REVIEW
Many traders focus on strategies, signals, and even complicated indicators and forget to do the basic things. What changed my trading was accountability. You must be able to evaluate your performance every week. You can only evaluate your performance if you have DATA. This brings me to the first requirement each new trader must have; a Notebook or what people call a trading journal
Record:
You must record critical information on every trade you execute. Pair, volume, Stop Loss, Take Profit, Volume, Buy/Sell, reasoning for entering, Profit or Loss.
Report:
This is the simple process of coming to note down the outcome of the trade when it closes. Did you close it manually or did it hit your preassigned targets?
Review: A good trader should make time every Friday and go over their report for the week. Look at the trades that were taken go back to the charts and ask critical questions. Did I follow my strategy or this was just an impulsive trade or a revenge trade? was it profitable, was I stopped because I was wrong or maybe there was a news spike? You will not believe the amount of changes you can make to your trading just by doing these few things.

HOLY GRAIL STRATEGIES
Most new traders go about paying for signals or follow traders, learning complicated strategies and indicators. The basic tenets of price action are what every trader needs to master. As a CMT level two trader, I have studied so much but I don't use a third of all that Knowledge to trade. If I had taken all that time learning how to be disciplined and manage my psychology, I would be far ahead of where I am today. Keep it simple, learn the OCHL price points, understand candle sticks and candle stick patterns, Trend direction, Support and resistance, Demand and supply levels, and Fibonacci. With a mastery of this, you can make all the money you want in trading.

NO STOPS AND TAKE PROFITS
Many New traders get into trades without predefined stops and take profits. These are so critical because you calculate your risk based on your account size and can pre-determine the amount of money you want to lose in that trade. By setting these loss and profit targets, you are in a better place psychologically. The markets are dynamic and always ZigZag up and down. With Take Profits you look in some profits each time you trade which is equivalent to paying yourself.

TRADE WITH THE TREND
Why do I even have to write about this? Just by following this basic principle, you can eliminate 60% of your losses. Learn early how to identify the trend direction and try as much as possible to pick your trades in that direction. With time you will able to appreciate reversal trades more and start taking them. As a new trader, TRADE WITH THE TRADE.

TRADING TRAINING SESSION

For a while now I have not posted any training session because I have been very mobile, travelling and developing othe parts of our business.

It is SAD the way most people (Myself included) got introduced to trading, and most times we have failed from the onset. Many promoters out there potray trading like a get rich quick scheme and lure most people into the field without equiping them with the right tools for the business.

Yes, I called it a business because the moment you don't treat trading as a busines, then you have failed even before starting. Statistics will tell you that trading as a profession has one of the lowest rates of success out there, but draws in the highest number of new commers. Most read blogs and fake social media post online and think it is a short cut to immense wealth.

As somebody who has been trading for the past 8 years, professionally for the last 3 years and who is qualified and certified with a Level 2 CMT ( Chattered Market Technician), if you fail to be trained by the right person and to learn properly, then you fail from the onset.

For those of you here who know me, you must have noticed I was away from this platform ”Facebook” for a while. My account was deactivated and deleted the situation was so serious my Phone number was barred by MTN Cameroon and I had to address a special letter to the company demanding for explanation and damages for my number to be reinstated after trying to do so normally at the agency 3 times for over 6 weeks. It was reinstated on the same day with an agent calling me to apologize.
I wish to use this article to reintroduce myself and to let you know I am back here with my “brutally honest writing”. I will quote one of the best orators in Africa, and arguably the greatest Pan Africanist of our time, a man I have developed a fondness for and love to listen to whenever I am carrying out some house Chores, or just relaxing. Prof. Patrick Otieno L. Lumumba, He Challenges us to pick a side, even in the Bible in the books of Daniel, Kings in the story of Joshua and Elijah we are Challenged to Choose between Serving the living God or Worship of Idols. “Choose You Now”. He challenges the African Youth to choose how the future of Africa will look like, he reminds us that it will not be done here on Facebook, or Twitter, Instagram and worst of all Tiktok.

There are forces both spiritual and Physical that are watching you and will always fight against you. When my Facebook account was deleted with over 10,000 followers I tried by all means to know the reason why, but Facebook admins will not tell me, I even tried to recreate my account and realised my name and all emails associated with it were banned from ever creating another account on Facebook, reason why I am here with another name. There are forces that you will never understand that are watching you and fighting your destiny. Being as stubborn as I am I found other means to create a new account, I discovered that it was because of my articles that my account was deleted, when I discussed with some friends and family members they discouraged me from ever writing again. But I am here to tell them that was bad advice…what are we if we don’t do the things that we are gifted to do, if we don’t have the courage to do what is right, NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES.

I am reading a book “Jewish Wisdom for Business Success” and the first thing it cautions against is FEAR. I remember the famous quote by President F. D. Roosevelt when he told Americans in the face of Famine and poverty that “The only thing they had to fear was fear itself”. There is nothing you can achieve in Life if you operate in Fear.

In conclusion I say to my fellow African Youths, We will not Change our nations or beloved Africa by running away from it, we will not change it by travelling and hoping to change it from Europe, Asia and America. We will not change it by staying on social media or fighting on social Media, We have watched African Leaders make life unbearable for us, depriving us of what we deserve, of a better future. We can only change it by standing up for what is rightfully ours without fear, by starting that business no matter how scared you are…in my case by coming back to Facebook and writing about ills in our society and our politics without fear and with all honesty. When you struggle, fail and recover as much as I have then you know you can actually be, do and have all that you deserve if you work hard, learn from your mistakes and forge on without FEAR.
