Today, you will hear many people advice you on various business models and how you are doing it the wrong way. They will tell you how to come and listen to their motivation events after you must have registered 5k. Some are even teaching you how to make money and by doing so struggling to make money in pulling trafic to their pages. Then comes the forex training guys who will come and tell you that they are having a 2 months training program in trading that will turn you into a millionaire after you must have paid a registration of 25k and maybe a training fee of 150k. Chai we nova tire for deceive a near hopeless youth society?

Let me put it bluntly here, in Cameroon today let no body deceive you to go into any form of business as a youth. You will make mistakes and maybe loose a fortune that your family must have entrusted on you. Dont even tell me that you will attend business training forums, all those forums that people organize to train you and the books they write and sell are a means to their survival. I have taken some time and followed with kin concentration most of our social media influencers, very few actually will tell you what to do for free but they know. Yes you will tell me that no launch is free even in free town but at least make easy for people to eat the launch and get full before paying.

Coming back to why you should not invest in Cameroon as a hustler, (I know say i don press spoil for here but i must talkam). You see business is a learning process and many times you will fail. Well these motivational speakers will tell you to fail many times before you will ever succeed but they will not tell you the impact of failing. There is a failure that leeds directly to the corridors of Konengui, you dont want to go down the road of that type of failure. What they dont understand is that for most of us the poor once, opportunity comes only once and if you fail, you fail for ever.

Guys dont attempt to fail as a hustler with maybe Capital that has been entrusted to you or borrowed by your parents and given to you. I saw one Francophone influencer saying that there must be a shot cut from the west region to Canada. He continued by saying that Canada has become the 11th region in Cameroon populated mostly by the Bamilekes. And he goes further to say that these Bamilekes are going and working in Farms far away from towns and abandoning their own farms to Chines and other the rest, and he condemns it. To me, this guy is an idiot who does not know reality on the ground. He is one of those who will sit on arm chairs and talk about cultivating hectares of land without knowing what it takes. If the Bamileke's have understood that business no di give again in Cameroon, na you wan challenge them?

Lets do the maths here, imagine your Family can afford to give you 2million cfa. The question is will you risk it on a business in Cameroon (in the farm) or will you take a sure option abroad)? Now let me unveil reality to you. I have been working in the farm since 2005. When my father went into farming we were hoping that by now the roads to the location of our farm must have been tarred. Almost 20 hecters of cultivated cocoa, and palm oil. In those bushes, the price of cocoa is at a giveaway. you know why? There are no roads to reach there. We play plantains and coco yams as football during our resting periods. From this locality to Douala the economic capital is just a 1h:30 mins drive through Yabassi. But during the rainy season if you day embark on this journey you have two weeks on the way.

Additionally a farm as large as that one needs workers. Who can really love to go and live in that type of a locality. That's the reality on the ground. In Canada maybe roads are tarred to farms who knows and maybe they will pay well who knows.

Again to those of you calling on us to invest and cultivate farms, can you imagine our farm was the best cocoa farm in the whole of litoral region? guess what the take home prize could be. I two wheel truck hahahahahahaha. These are the people encouraging us.

Now to why i made this write up. As someone who has struggled alot and is still struggling, i believe i already have a little to give back. I am an Information Technology Engineer (IT) and after several failures in different business, this is what survived me and i think it can help a lot of young guys out there. Do you really think you understand what you see?
Ok let’s start simple. I believe many of us must have watched the movie “The Terminator” Judgment Day. This is one of the greatest movies that made Arnold Schwarzenegger so famous. Yeah everybody will answer in chorus and even explain some trilling scenes in the movie to ascertain and push through a level of certitude that they have actually watch the movie. The born yesterdays will not even understand what I am talking about.

My next question may baffle you if you are in the bottom many of those who watch scenes and not story line. The question is… What is the movie “The Terminator” talking about?. Well if you were like me you will say some machines were sent from the future, one to protect a boy, and the other to destroy him. So they started fighting. Not bad for someone who tries to understand storylines before enjoying action scenes,

After some little enlightenment in tech, I stumbled on the movie again, and this time, I watched it in HD and followed every sense of it. It was then that I discovered that some of these producers and publishers may know a lot and instead of prophesying it like us Africans will do, they put their own prophecies as movies.

Let me break down the movie for you and then tell you how the prophecy is coming to pass. In the movie, a lady is given a prophecy that there will be a time in the future when Machines will rise and fight against humans and almost 3 billion humans will die. Those who will survive will only live to fight another great war where humanity will almost get terminated. In this future, there will be one human who will lead the revolutions against the machines and at the end, defeat the machines. So in an effort not to get defeated in this war which will still occur in the future, the machines designed an advanced prototype terminator which they named it T1000 to come back to the past and terminate this boy in his young age. The human in the future also perceived this and designed a lesser terminator T800 not as strong as the one designed by the machines. This T800 played by Schwarzenegger was sent back to protect the boy.

Wait a minute. How did the Machines take control in the first place? In the futur, the American government is running a secret military corporation called Cyberdyne Systems Corporation. This corporation produces a highly sophisticated computer programs that could learn like humans and take decisions like humans. These programs are powered by a sophisticated computer cheap called skynet. Drones were created that could make decisions of themselves, robots were created that could fight faster and more efficient and understand all languages and more sophisticated weapons were placed in the hands of these machines.

The machines started learning and became more powerful than the humans could control and they decided to take control from humans. Humans decided to shut them down and thats when the revolution started. The machines knowing that humans can destroy themselves in anger, attacked Russia in the name of The United states. That is when Russia retaliated with a nuclear response and world will be down on their knees. Cornor the little boy will now start a revolution against the machines which he will eventually defeat the machines.

Skynet noticing this and being so advance to transcend time, developed a terminator to terminate Cornor. According to the time line in this movie, this war will take place on the 28th of October 2028

In the movie, the development of skynet is still at the beginning stage and the leader of the project is a black man named Miles Bernet Dyson. Dyson was attacked by Cornors mother and he was was being explained, the dangers of what he is doing. So he was being judged for what his project will do to humanity if he does not destroy it. Thus the appellation (Judgment Day)

Ok that is the movie. Now the prophecy. Today Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning are the most widely spoken technologies. Every corporation wants machines to work for them, and even make decisions for them. Driverless cars are being created everyday. Planes fly now without pilots. And the whole world is interconnected with what we now call the Internet. Who can see the development of skynet here?

The father of Artificial Intelligence Elon Musk himself said AI is more dangerous than nuclear bombs yet no body cares to listen. Just like the guys developing skynet thought they were supper smart, today people develop nuclear bombs and receive noble prizes for it. I only hope that in all these fast moving tech advances, a John Cornor is born among us, because when the machines will rise…..

Ok let’s begin from the beginning. Sometime ago, Ahmadou Baba Dampullo was in bed with a south African Bank called First National Bank (FNB) and ask for some lines of credit. For what I’m told, a line of credit is an authorization for someone to take money from the bank at any time without going through administrative procedures (this is just for lay understanding. Make these finance guru them no cam start chakara my head).

As a result, Dampullo had collected a huge sum of cash with his assets and buildings in South Africa as collateral security. We could not get the exact amount of money that was contracted, but by 2020, the South African Bank was demanding over 20 billion CFA francs. This cash was to be paid monthly of which Damppullo has been doing that until 2019 when the pandemic broke and Dampullo was unable to pay back the amortization as was the case. Claims according to “business in Cameroon” says Dampullo was supposed to be paying almost 400 million cfa every month

Sources say negotiations between Dampullo’s companies in South Africa and FNB went sour and by 2020, the Bank took the matter to the courts in South Africa which passed a ruling in favor of the South African Bank, ordering Dampullo’s assets to be liquidated. In an effort to strike back, Dampullo played the old time child play, “you pass me for wuna house, you no go pass me for we own house” there by filing a complaint to the president of the Bonanjo court of first instance in Douala accusing FNB of having "defrauded Dampullo of all of their real estate assets in South Africa with assistance from its accomplices, namely the appointed liquidators and the South African judicial system.”
Dampullo says his assets are worth ZAR5 billion (XAF200 billion). Apart from that amount, he demanded the payment of XAF23.8 billion for "rent unduly collected (XAF21.6 billion)" and "recovery costs (XAF2.2 billion)", as well as the payment of a 3.25% interest. To him, any company that has links with South Africa and is in Cameroon must suffer the consiquencies.

Which are these companies?
Well MTN Cameroon is a subsidiary of the MTN group head quartered in South Africa of which 23% of their shares are owned by the South African state pension fund Public Investment Corporation (PIC). It should also be noted that PIC owns 13.4% of Tiger Brand and 14.9% of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated. Tiger Brand is the mother company that holds shares of CHOCOCAM Cameroon along with SNI that holds almost ¼ of the shares of CHOCOCAM. There is another company called Broadband Telecom owned by Collins Mukete, chairman of the board of MTN Cameroon. Broadband Telecom owns ¼ of MTN Cameroon shares.

Among these companies, Dampullo ordered the freezing of the accounts of
- MTN Cameroon because PIC is the share holder at the group level
- Mobile Money corporation because it is owned by MTN
- Chococam because it is partly owned by Tiger Brand of which PIC is a shareholder and belongs to south Africa
- Broadband Telecom because its owner is the chairman of the board of MTN Cameroon

Here is where the fight gets interesting, the accounts of Mobile Money corporation are housed by Afriland First Bank whose Chair is the no nonsense Billionair Pr. Paul Fokam. This guy outrightly refused the ruling of the court saying that the money held in Mobile money account is not MTN’s money, that it is Cameroonians Money and no one has the right to block Cameroonians from using their money.

MTN on the other side argues that in basic business and Law school, students are taught that if your business is a limited Liability business, no matter the debts you owe someone, he has no right to lay claim on your business. You and your business are two different people. So even if PIC had a problem with Dampullo, PIC is just a shareholder of MTN at the group level for that matter and PIC’s liabilities do not affect MTN in anyway.

Well I say welcome to Cameroon where the Law we learn in SOA finishes before you reach TOTAL Ngouseu. From Mobile Omnisport onwards, you do as you are told.
This complex case undermines diplomatic relations between Cameroon and South Africa. The latest developments come as South African Foreign Minister Grace Naledi Pandor met with Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute. The two countries seek to resolve this puzzle which affects bilateral relations

In all these, the county’s financial bull dog the central bank has remained as silent as to say “I don’t want to be caught inbetween”

Come to think of it, with our little form three economics can’t we detect who is wrong here? Well we can but …

Lets imagine for a moment, what if the accounts of momo were also frozen, then no one will be able to move money across, Cameroonians will demand for explanation, MTN will say their accounts are frozen and they don’t know why, so what can the population do?

The matter is still far from over and if you hear that MTN is leaving Cameroon, it shouldn’t border you because the Vietnamese that owned part of vietel which was the majority shareholder of Nexttell, left.

My own take.

I know no one cares to hear, but with a simple touch of the ball that went behind the net in the "wrong" direction, I believe anything said around Embolo makes everyone to pause a minute and listen.

So many people have criticize the officials of the country about the process of detecting talents in Cameroon and others even go further to say that some of the talents are actually detected but asked to pay bribe to be integrated. I look at this to be too myopic. This phenomenon does not only occurs in football, it occurs in all industries in Cameroon. Football, Education, Business, science, arts and drama, and you won't believe even Politics.

The course of the problem
To me, I won't blame anybody because everyone is falling a victim. Take for example, to be a magistrate in Cameroon, the law says you must pass through Enam meanwhile all that really matters is mastery of the law. A practicing Lawyer can be with no problem. When you will see a magistrate in the united states' may be who failed the entrance exams to Enam you will start talking.
To use any application software in Cameroon that facilitates the transfer, storage, payment and conversion of money, you need to have a capital that will be locked up in BEAC then go through administrative bottle necks of which everyone simple needs a bribe and no one really cares. If you give the bribe, you get the authorization.
To start a secondary school, you must have a piece of land about 2000 square meters then go around bribing the authorities to give you authorization of creation after that they will then give you authorization of opening. All these are managed by individuals who only need bribe. In all these there are people with schools with no land title, no space even for children to play around.

In all these examples what I'm i trying to say? Creativity and talent valorization has been sacrificed in the name of protecting the existing industry from just any type of person. It is good to work according to the law, but please always go with the spirit of the laws. Every law came up at a particular time guided by a society and their environment. Time, society and environment are changing parameters so too should the laws be.

To me, let the process of creating anything be as simple as possible, and be less interactive with officials. It can be automatic online why not ?. But let the operations control process be as strict as possible.

If to join the national team, they just call for all players to come for recruitment at the divisional level, at the regional level and at the national level, a wonderful team will be selected. You don't need to only fetch for players from division 1, 2 or 3. If that is done, you will see a lot of inter quarter players arriving the national team. I watch these inter quarter competitions and I know what I'm saying. Players like Mbape will be seen, and selected. One thing should be made clear, the government signs a contract with anyone who has taken part in this selection, shielding them from playing for any other country (I wonder if this can be done)

Let people create their schools, simply make sure they are running it the right way. Let the young people create their applications, allow them use it. Just make sure you take one of them to act as control admin for you. Our laws are stiff so much such that we are too afraid to make mistakes. That's why everything is held still.

Our educational curriculum is old and outdated. While the world today is studying application programming languages, java, python, Jason, cloud computing etc, the HND curriculum developed in 2008, is still the one applicable with studies of c++ and at the end of study no solution project created. I pity partants sending their children to these institutes .

So the problem in one word is that Government policy permit the administrators to take bribe. If I can share my personal experience, we created a cloud institute and made banners and signboards. Of course we followed all the regulations and got the authorization. One old man entered my office and gave me a bill of 900,000frs. I asked for what? He told me it's for all those posters outside. I had to bring this pa to reasoning that look, this project was to be implemented somewhere else but because of political crises we find ourselves here. Now giving us this bill, without us even beginning where do you expect us to take the money from. Even allow us to function for two years then come and ask for your advertisement rights. The man told me he never wrote the laws, he is just benefiting from it even as he knows they are bad. That's the Cameroon we live in. Here we are educating your children after leaving our own homeland, but you don't care. All you care is what you benefit from the laws.

The solution
No one will change Cameroon except Cameroonians. Some of those government outdated programs, please desist from them. Take your destiny into your own hands. Now it's possible to acquire international certifications while studying in Cameroon. Go for them. I have a pile of them, contact me and I will give you a variety.

Secondly, avoid government jobs. Please do not envy those government jobs that you gain access through national competitive exams. Avoid them. There is where you are tricked. The government will tell you that inorder to write ENS you must have a degree, main while vocational certifications are way better than degrees. So why will they limit you.? It's just a way of telling you that go for the degree before you write ENS. Thereby compelling you. The government can never pay you more than the private sector. Go for certification studies and obtain specialized certificates. When the government will see that they are no more having the market, they will start checking sense.

But can we do it? A parant boldly told me I don't know what my child will do with the degree but let him just first have it. I want to have a child with a university degree. God punish this thinking.

Your freedom is in your hands. The power is in you. The problem is... Can you use it?
