9 questions to be concerned before choosing a moving company

Whenever you ask about moving companies, almost all of them assure that they are the best moving company. How to research a reliable moving company in a comprehensive and detailed way? How to choose the most appropriate service? We recommend you to read this article which will help you make the decision.

1. Door to Door Service

The international moving company should offer a complete door-to-door service from origin to destination. Some international shippers may only provide shipping service between two ports which partly explains why they seem cheaper than other companies. However, it will incur inconvenient for you to look for other agents/partners to deal with the rest work such as customs clearance, unpacking, delivery etc.

Asian Tigers China can meet your satisfaction of door to door service. We list detailed terms in contract and allocate expert to take care of your moving.

2. Insurance

No matter how careful movers are, there will always be an element of risk that even we cannot totally eliminate. In the event damage occurs it usually cannot be determined when, where, or how your goods were damaged or who is responsible.

Asian Tigers China works with insures that specialize in this field. We can arrange on your behalf “all risks, full-replacement value” coverage. We can even extend cover to include mold and mildew, and mechanical derangement.

3. Packing and materials

Moving companies will usually pack goods on behalf of you. On the one hand, they choose appropriate packaging materials and doing packing in a professional way, which can reduce the possible damage in transportation. On the other hand, they make packing list according to your actual household items in person to ensure there aren’t any banned items in your goods and complete Customs clearance smoothly.

Asian Tigers China provides packing materials with high quality and offered customized service including making wooden crates, putting desiccant, doing waterproof protection etc.

4. Mode of Transit

It is important that you have a clear idea just how your goods will be shipped. The mode of transit can be affected by distance, volume, weight, cost, prohibition policies etc.

By choosing reputable carrier, Asian Tigers China will arrange the appropriate sea, air, rail or road transportation. We will produce the necessary documents, prepaying shipping costs and monitor the movement from the point of origin through to the destination.

5. Timeline

Different companies will have different moving fleet capacities. Some can deliver goods on exactly the schedule you want and others will give you a range of options you can choose from.

The move consultants of Asian Tigers China will work with you to establish best date for your move and advise you useful points if you are hesitating in choosing your move date.

6. End to end service (or turnkey service)

Most international movers have partnerships with other companies for moves they can’t fulfill themselves. For example, relatively few moving companies operate container ships which are a necessity for moves overseas. So they will have to partner with a shipping company for sea based part of the moving process. Nevertheless, any reputable moving company should explain what companies will be responsible for each leg of the voyage.

Make sure your read reviews and of all the companies and understand what insurance coverage each of them offer you on each leg. Moves within Europe or within North America can usually be handled by one company whereas ones between continents will usually involve more than one.

7. Accreditation

Service quality is at the core of each company. Whether a company has obtained authoritative certifications is related to whether their service quality has been recognized by the industry.

Asian Tigers China is accredited by international respected organizations, including the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council, the International Federation of International Movers (FIDI), Overseas Moving Network International (OMNI), and the International Organization of Standardization (ISO). These internationally acclaimed organizations review and certify individual relocation professionals and groups of people within the company.

All the certificates awarded to Asian Tigers China demonstrate our dedication to maintaining a leading-edge relocation company.

8. Real-Time Track and Trace

Have the goods been shipped? Which port is the box currently at? A series of questions makes you nervous.

Don't worry. Asian Tigers China arranges the assigned move coordinator to be responsible for your goods transportation. They check the tracking information through the network, contacting with agents to monitor the goods regularly and update to you. Our service offers you a comprehensive hassle-free solution to move with peace of mind.

9. References

Nothing can compared with the customer's trust. If you have the opportunity to speak to previous clients or review their feedback, it would be much better for you to make a decision.

Asian Tigers China attaches great importance to the feelings of every customer. We will ask them to fill out feedback form every time we complete service. Thanks to clients trust and support, feedback encourages us to work harder.

Benefits of Hiring a Moving Company

Moving can be stressful and more complicated than you expected. Instead of ending up in a mess, the stressful moving can be successfully done by a trustworthy moving company. Below are some benefits of hiring a moving company you probably want to know.

Time saver
From cleaning and packing your clothes to decluttering your furniture or household items, the process usually occupies a lot of your time. Rather than spending hours and weeks packing on your own, hiring a professional moving company to help you can release your time to do other crucial things such as taking care of your family or business matters.

Leave the packing to the professionals
If you hire a moving company, you will not have to worry about the packing. The professionals have the expertise and skills to help your move smoothly. They will provide you with the most suitable materials to wrap up your valuables and antiques; some companies offer eco-friendly materials such as a reusable plastic box so that your move can be environmentally friendly. Not only do they help you pack your belongings quickly, but also unpack those items safely and efficiently. Moving companies like Asian Tigers provide professional end-to-end moving and relocation services.

Access the necessary equipment
When the household items are transferred unsympathetically, the chance of breakage or personal injury increases. Professional movers have specialized equipment to wrap up and move heavy household items or valuables such as pianos and antiques.

Keep your belongings safe in storage
If there is a gap between leases, you may need a warehouse to store your household items for a month or two upon moving into your new home. Moving companies usually offer storage services for short and long-term periods in their well-equipped warehouses with 24/7 CCTV surveillance. You can choose fully air-conditioned or regular climate-controlled options based on your preferences. Therefore, you do not need to search for a storage place.

Take care of customs
When moving to another country, customs clearance is inevitable, and it is a complicated and time-consuming task. Handling customs clearance is part of a moving company's daily job. They have expertise in customs and duty regulations. They will help you out with the customs clearance at your destination and also assist you in filling out and signing custom forms if necessary. They provide you the flexibility to handle the customs or duty charges, including prepaying duties on your behalf. You can be more focused on your new assignment and new place.

Hiring a moving company can release your stress. If you are frustrated with moving and relocation, you may consider hiring Asian Tigers.

Happy Chinese New Year of Rabbit!

Chinese New Year is known as the Spring Festival or or Chūnjié in Mandarin. It is the most distinctive Chinese traditional festival with a history of over 4000 years. The New Year typically begins with the first new moon that occurs between the end of January and spans the first 15 days of the first month of the lunar calendar—until the full moon arrives. In 2023, Chinese New Year begins on January 22.

Each year in the Lunar calendar is represented by one of 12 zodiac animals included in the cycle of 12 stations or “signs” along the apparent path of the sun through the cosmos. The year 2023 is slated to be the year of the rabbit.

During Chinese New Year, people have a long list of things to do. Many Chinese New Year customs are widely observed for thousands of years such as the family reunion dinner, red envelopes, pasting the “Fu” character, visiting friends and relatives, decorations with Chinese knots and window paper-cuts…

To curb the spread of the coronavirus during the holiday period, China has advocated off-peak travel and encouraged people to stay put during the holiday in the past 3 years. With the policy adjustment, we believe 2023 will usher a travel peak.

The start of a new year is a great time to arrange your relocation. If you have any question about household goods moving, please feel free to contact us for professional advice.

International arrival quarantine will be removed from Jan.8th, 2023

China has renamed the Chinese term for COVID-19 from "novel coronavirus pneumonia" to "novel coronavirus infection," as issued in a statement released by the National Health Commission.

Starting from Jan 8, China will downgrade management of the disease from Class A to Class B in accordance with the country's law on prevention and treatment of infectious disease, and remove it from quarantinable infectious disease management carried out in accordance with the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China, added the statement.

Currently, COVID-19 is classified as a Class B infectious disease but subject to the preventive and control measures for a Class A infectious disease in China.

Authorities will drop quarantine measures against people infected with novel coronavirus and stop identifying close contacts or designating high-risk and low-risk areas, said the document.

However, if you would like to travel to China between now to Jan 8, you will still be required to be quarantined for 5 days at a centralized facility followed by another 3 days home quarantine.

Considering the huge increase in business we are likely to face after the policy change, we sincerely recommend you to contact us soon to arrange your relocation/s in advance.

Merry Christmas
Christmas was a traditionally Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus, but in the early 20th century, it also became a secular family holiday, observed by Christians and non-Christians alike.

Fun & Love
Christmas is a holiday filled with good cheer, joyful decorations, and time with family and friends. Whether you are celebrating a secular or religious Christmas, it is a day for fun, love, and happiness.

Christmas customs
Christians and non-Christians participate in some of the most popular Christmas traditions, many of which have no origins in Christianity. These customs include decorating evergreen trees—or, in India, mango or bamboo trees; feasting (picnics and fireworks are popular in warm climates); and exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

Santa Claus
It is said that on Christmas Eve Santa Claus loads his sleigh with toys and flies around the world, drawn by nine reindeer. Stopping at each child’s house, he slides down the chimney and leaves gifts, refreshing himself with milk and cookies left for him by the household’s children.

What else do you know about Christmas?

4 Tips to Avoid Getting Sick After your Move

You are nearly at the end of your moving journey, the last thing you want to encounter is a personal illness. Sickness might hit you out of the blue. Whether it is allergies from cleaning dusty attics or stress headaches from things that need to settle, many health problems can arise along your relocation.

We have prepared some methods you can consider during your move and hope they can minimize your chance of getting sick.

Wash your hands

First and foremost, wash your hands. It applies to the moving day and lets it become a regular practice when you return to your home every day, especially during the COVID-19 period. Washing your hands throughout the moving process is the simplest method of preventing sickness and spreading germs and infections to people around you. The CDC advises the public to wash hands or use hand sensitizer before and after touching one's face and mask. The proper guideline suggests we wash our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol to clean our hands. A tip for the moving day is to prepare hand sanitizer or soap and paper towels in your home's bathrooms so that movers can also wash their hands.

Maintain good ventilation

Maintaining good ventilation is essential when you unpack your items. When you unpack all your boxes, you will stir up dust and other allergens on the surface of the boxes. There is also a possibility that those irritants may already exist in your new home, but they remained dormant until the move. Keeping windows open and switching on the air filters can reduce the air particles and dust in your room, and the natural wind and filters will wash away and filter out those irritants. Breathing in clear air in your new house prevents allergens from affecting your body, making you less likely to get sick.

Apply disinfectant spray

Apply disinfectant spray to all packages and avoid touching your face afterward can reduce the risk of getting sick. Boxes had gone through various places before arriving at your new house, from the airport or terminals to the destination trucks and warehouses. Germs and bacteria could stick on your packages during the transition. Applying disinfectant spray to the container can kill germs and bacteria attached to the surface. After using the disinfectant spray on the boxes, let them sit for a while before you start unpacking. Avoid touching your face, including your eyes, nose, or mouth, during unpacking—viral infections spread by touching one's eyes, nose, or mouth. We recommend washing your hands before touching your face after unpacking.

Strengthen your immune system

You might not be aware that environmental factors contribute to your health. When you relocate to a new destination, your surroundings change inevitably. You will face a new environment and people. It can be the hidden reason for getting sick after relocation: new air, dust, and everything. Your body needs time to adjust to the new environment. In the meantime, there's a high chance of catching a cold of some sort. So how to strengthen your immune system? Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables; Drink eight cups of water a day; sleep well; keep up-to-date on vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, reduce your stress level; and take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands. The immune system defends you against disease-causing microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria. Boosting your immune system can prevent you from getting sick.

What sort of pre-move survey do I need?

What’s the one thing that people always stress out before moving overseas? Hiring which international moving company is definitely the one. Working with a professional moving company benefits people to enjoy a stress-free and hassle-free international move. To ensure the moving experience goes smoothly, sound preparation – getting a pre-move survey is essential for choosing which moving company they should work with.

The pre-move survey allows our move consultant to meet with you to discuss your requirements. The consultant will record the various items to be packed and mark any special needs. Every move is different, so our surveyor will discuss your individual needs. For example: What to ship by sea, by air, what to dispose of, and what to donate to charity; your company’s policies and allowances; your travel plans and timing constraints; do you have any special service requirements? Pets? Cars? Boats? Piano? Etc.

What is an onsite survey?
An onsite survey allows our moving specialist to provide an accurate estimate of the volume of the move and to foresee the services that you may be required. However, we understand that it may be difficult to arrange a time for an onsite survey due to busy schedules. Hence, alternatively, you can provide us with an inventory of the items to be moved and any other relevant information about your move. We can provide an indicative quote based on the information.

What is a video survey?
A video survey is an approach to the onsite survey going online. Our surveyor will use a video conferencing app such as Zoom, to conduct a real-time, face-to-face survey online with the customer. This method is similar to the traditional survey, except the representative sees the customer, home, and inventory remotely through a screen instead of physically in person.

Why choose an onsite survey?
Understand all pricing details
Moving quotes provided over the phone or via email can’t be considered the most accurate as several factors can change the final quotation. For instance, sometimes a customer may forget to list out all the items on the packing list or the surveyor noticed items that are left in the blind spot at your house. Then it will result in an additional fee for packing, transporting, and unpacking these unique items. Onsite surveys act as the last guard for your move, surveyors not only explain all the details on the quotation but also double-check no item is being omitted in the house.

Why choose a video survey?
Convenience for the customer and surveyor

With video surveys, it allows moving specialists to conduct surveys from anywhere with an Internet connection. Surveyors can even arrange a survey at their home office if any lockdown happens. Customer can show their packing items to our surveyor without anyone entering their home to reduce the COVID-19 infection risk. Video surveys bring convenience to both sides.

If you would like assistance with shipping or relocation support, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

What do you know about Halloween?

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes.

Pumpkin lanterns

Many people decorate their homes with pumpkin lanterns. To make the lantern, cut the top off a pumpkin, empty the inside and cut shapes to make a face with eyes, a nose and a mouth. When you put a candle inside, the light makes the face look scary. Sometimes there are competitions for the scariest pumpkin lantern.

Halloween costumes

A lot of children and teenagers wear costumes for Halloween. In the UK some of the most popular costumes are witches, vampires, skeletons and zombies. Some people buy their costumes, but other people make their own. In some countries, there are lots of different costumes, not just scary ones. So there you can see superheroes, princesses and rabbits as well as scarier costumes.

Trick-or-treating

On Halloween evening, lots of children go trick-or-treating. They dress up in Halloween costumes and go to friends' and neighbours' houses or flats. At the front door, they say 'Trick or treat!' They usually get a treat, like sweets or chocolate. Many people put pumpkin lanterns or other Halloween decorations outside their house to show trick-or-treaters that they are welcome.

Wish you a happy Halloween!
