Eat away your Monday blues with our quintessential Nasi Lemak - Although it is also native dish in neighboring Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand and Indonedia, nasi lemak is considered the national dish of Malaysia, and is common breakfast of the region. Nasi Lemak is a Malay fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf and served with the soul of the dish - sweet savory spicy sambal from Jasmine‘s mom, boiled egg, crispy peanuts, savory anchovies and cucumber. It is also known that nasi lemak is also one of the favorites of the Sultan of Brunei.

SARAWAK LAKSA
砂拉越叻沙
There’s a reason why called Sarawak Laksa “Breakfast of the Gods!”
Painstakingly cooked for more than 12 hours but worth every drop!
Laksa is one of the first dishes that first springs to mind when people think of Malaysian cuisine and Sarawak laksa is one of MULU’s signature dishes. Based on Jasmine’s grandmother’s recipe, KAKIKOPI’s Laksa recipe starts with a broth made from chicken bones, prawn shells, and seven different vegetables that is simmered for five hours, which is similar to the technique for making French consommé. The broth is then combined with our signature laksa paste which is made from scratch, in-house with 36 different herbs and spices that is painstakingly cooked for 12 hours, and then simmered for a further two hours.
Unlike Singapore laksa, Sarawak laksa uses less coconut milk, and includes rice vermicelli noodles topped with bean sprouts, shredded chicken, shredded omelette, prawns, and puffed tofu, and garnished with coriander and fried shallots. The laksa is then served with fresh kalamansi lime and home-made sambal for an extra kick!

JUICY HAINAN CHICKEN RICE
The Pride of Overseas Chinese南洋华人的骄傲
Although it is called Hainan Chicken Rice, this dish was actually created by immigrants decades ago and adapted from the Hainanese dish Wenchang Chicken. The rice is cooked in chicken broth, garlic, galangal, onion, and pandan leaves, which gives it an unforgettable fragrance. A good chicken rice must have perfectly poached chicken that is tender, moist, and silky smooth; Kakikopi uses fresh, free-range Qingyuan chicken. The dish must be served with chilli sauce, ginger sauce, and thick caramelised dark soy sauce.
As the saying goes, food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate.

MALAY CHICKEN CURRY
马来鸡肉咖喱
Every household in Malaysia has its own version of chicken curry. As Malaysian cuisine is very much influenced by Indian culture, masala or spices are usually bought from the Indian vendors in the market, and then moms and grandmas will cook the dish with their own interpretation. At Kakikopi, the chicken is simmered with curry paste made in-house with 28 herbs and spices, as well as potatoes and coconut milk, until the chicken is packed with intense flavours and fragrance. The dish is best served with steamed Jasmine rice or bread to soak up its delicious spicy goodness. It is the quintessential Malaysian comfort food.

Little Chow loves her Kolo Mee Pok!
Mee Pok means flat noodle, almost like a thinner cross between fettucini and linguine. MULU has improvised her popular comfort food Kolok Mee into what is popularly known in Singapore as Bakcho Mee, which literally translated as minced meat noodles in Hokkien dialect. This is a soulful breakfast favorite of most people in Southeast Asia, and there is really no secret ingredients, mainly shallot oil, some soy sauce, Sarawak white pepper, and hand-made noodles cooked in 7 seconds al-dente, tossed together and garnished with minced meat, Teochew fishball, fishcake, spring onions and fried shallots...and voila, your bakcho mee pok is ready to be served. This is the best comfort food, and perhaps your best hangover food

Grandma's Fish Ball Soup
南洋鱼丸汤
This Teochew-style dish has been passed down through Jasmine's family and was her secret weapon to please her granny. Jasmine loved to see her grandma's expression of approval. The fish balls are hand-made with techniques to ensure the perfect springy texture and served in a rich broth made from slow-simmered chicken stock. It must be garnished with fried shallots, spring onion, seaweed and fried beancurd, as insisted by granny.
Enjoy the soup by itself or with a bowl of tasty Mee Pok Kosong.
As promised, after our Official Opening, we will come up with a weekly special dish from a city/province of a Southeast Asian country. Thus, Mee Kari/ Curry Mee will be served on the first week of September lah!

A curry puff is a snack of Maritime Southeast Asian origin. It is a small pie consisting of curry with chicken and potatoes in a deep-fried or baked pastry shell. The consistency of the curry is quite thick to prevent it from oozing out of the snack.
