Thursday afternoon saw the Secondary edition of the Talent Show return to the MFH stage, following on from a successful Primary Talent Show last month. Seeing this UISG tradition back live on stage in the first semester is a joy, after all the disruptions of last academic year.

At the GISES Basketball Jamboree, our Primary basketball teams delivered another outstanding exhibition. The girls won two matches, drew two, and the boys won three matches with one loss. Many thanks to all the parent cheerleaders for their support!

Over the weekend, the HS Tennis Team achieved a 3rd place finish in the PRC Invitational, while the Wolf Pack swimmers excelled at the LEH Invitational by earning medals in 20 events and securing the top 3 placements.

Y4 Camp took place from 1st November to 3rd November in Qingyuan. Our students had an amazing time participating in various fun and team building activities. They had the opportunity to bond with the Y4 teaching team and get to know other students from their year level.

Our camp was titled ‘Treasure hunter’ by our organizers and rightly so. Wow! Did we ever discover treasure? The most amazing thing is that the treasure was inside each and every student!

This week was an exciting week for most our Primary students who were involved in on- and off-campus adventures as part of Camps Week. Years 5 and 6 students were at Pak Lap Beach in Hong Kong, Years 3 and 4 students were in Qingyuan, and Years 1 and 2 students were on site with their own learning adventures right here at UISG.

As year 10 students, we have collaborated and have operated the Inktober activity for a month. It started by promoting the month on the daily bulletin board and promoting it at the atrium during breaks and lunch where it happened.

As a provocation for our next unit of inquiry, year 2 went to a trampoline park. Year 2 students will be inquiring into health and wellbeing. The students wore activity trackers to check how much they moved.

This past weekend, Year 10 and 11 students attended SISMUN at Shekou International School. The theme of the conference was “Forging the Path to Global Advancement.” Our students were involved in committees ranging from the General Assembly to the Human Rights Council and the Economic and Social Council.

During the weekend a group dedicated UISG Early Years teachers attended the Associate of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) ECE Conference hosted by Concordia Shanghai.

Dear Parents,

This is a kind reminder. The Welcome Picnic is rescheduled on 14th October 2023 from 11am to 2pm, we’ll be welcoming 500+ visitors onto campus to meet new families and enjoy some light entertainment. We’ll have some of Guangzhou’s best international food vendors, including Perma Bakery, MADO and GZ Grocery, plus activities led by SK Sports, Golf Academy, the Art Institute, and our own CAS students.

The stage schedule includes student performances and newly formed staff duo, Dyl and Del! All this with our usual bouncy castle and UPTA stalls.

We also have a Photo Competition this year! See attached poster for more details. Submit a photo during the event for a chance to win a special prize.
