UWB positioning tag circuit protection solution
positioning tags (cards or bracelets, etc.) can send pulse information to the positioning base station according to the set communication protocol (such as BLE5.0) and communication frequency, thereby achieving real-time precise positioning of people or items (up to 10cm). This kind of positioning tag is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery and can be used continuously for more than 3 months. At the same time, the positioning tag can also realize the alarm and help function through the alarm button.
Yint Electronics proposes effective circuit protection solutions for UWB positioning tag circuits.
Power supply end: Positioning tags generally use a power supply scheme that charges lithium batteries through a USB port, which may produce surge current and instantaneous overvoltage. For surge current, it is recommended to use Yint Electronics overcurrent protection device, SMD1206-050 self-restoring fuse. For transient voltage suppression, Yint Electronics TVS device, ESDSR05, can be used to effectively protect ESD interference from the data port.

Battery pack circuit protection
The power bus of the battery pack needs to avoid being affected by lithium-ion battery overcurrent and ESD. The control lines (such as SMbus, I2C, etc.) also need to avoid being affected by ESD. The low-voltage (≤5V) ESD protection circuit is as follows.
This solution complies with IEC61000-4-2 air 15KV contact 8KV.
The overcurrent protection of the battery pack uses YINT's SMD PPTC, packaged 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1812, 2018, 2920 and so on. ESD protection can use discrete multilayer varistors or diode arrays.
Regarding the safety of the battery pack, it meets the test methods: UL 1642 UL 2054 IEC 61960 IEC 62133; regarding the ESD anti-static protection diode, it meets IEC 61000-4-2.
PPTC (resettable fuse) needs to be selected carefully to ensure the performance of the overcurrent device. It is important to consider the rated temperature of the battery pack because this temperature will affect the trip point and trip time of the overcurrent protection device.

One-click start button electrostatic protection
The PEPS system engine start button usually has an LED light color change indicator to indicate status information. In order to prevent static electricity from giving error information to the main control chip, the key-activated unit needs to add a small package electrostatic protection device. ·The PEPS system controls the vehicle base station to wait for tag return instructions, and mainly uses 315MHz~433MHz radio frequency for communication. Lf low frequency communication protection
·2PEPS system LF low-frequency communication uses 125kHz frequency for communication. The 6 (or 8) antennas of the base station send out 125kHz signals to find the location of the tag (smart key) and match and wake it up. When the tag (smart key) is located in the car and the key is matched, the anti-theft controller IMMO and electronic steering column ESCL unlocking instructions can be given, and the driver can start the engine through the ignition button.
·Changes in the antenna signal and equivalent load changes for the transmitting module require surge or electrostatic protection. It is recommended to use Yint Electronics 5V, SOD323 packaged electrostatic protection device ESD5V0D3B. The PCB layout design is recommended to be close to the antenna access port of the module.

Button unit protection
The PEPS smart key retains the traditional RKE button unit, which is in line with the habits of many people. The button unit circuit may generate electromagnetic disturbances such as static electricity when the button is pressed, released, or detected by the human body, which is transmitted to the I/O port of the main control IC and affects the normal operation of the main control IC. At the TVS2/TVS3/TVS4 position between the button and the I/O port of the IC, Yint Electronics recommends using the electrostatic protection device YINT ESD5V0D5B, SOD523 small package to protect the button unit circuit.

Semiconductor discharge tubes are used in security units
The mode of the gas discharge tube is ionization discharge. After discharge, the temperature is high, which may affect the service life of the main distribution frame. At the same time, the gas discharge tube has the phenomenon of failure due to chronic air leakage. After the failure, the external line and the ground wire are in an open circuit state. In this case, the protection reliability of the security unit is reduced, and it may not even be able to play its due protective role.
