JISP 2012

2012 Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP) is an art festival curated by Purple Roof Art Gallery.

The theme of this year's festivities is “Pride of the City” it is a further development of the 2010 Expo Jing’An International Sculpture Project “City Fantasy”. This project is dedicated to improving regional/ community culture, it contributes to making Shanghai a international platform for cultural exchange. 在香港，看見被隨處丟棄的運輸用卡板，比看見樹林的機會還要多，那種粗獷而滄桑的紋理，獨一無二。利用這種回收的物料，拼砌出造型幽默抵死的動物木雕作品，正好體現出港式的交雜文化，亦流露出我在成長的歲月中，對木工、玩具、卡通、空間和結構等的體驗、觀察和嘗試。

There is a lot of pallets discarded everywhere in Hong Kong,, the chance founding it may be even higher than a tree. The bold and unconstrained texture of the pallet is unique. By using this recycle material, either by Chinese joining techniques or D.I.Y. furniture style; animal-like cartoon sculptures are created. Not only embodying the mixed-cultural spirit in Hong Kong, the way of my observation, learning experience and trial among toys, cartoons, spaces and structures can also be revealed.
