Who we are❓
Girls Not Brides (GNB) is an intramural club in Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE in Shenzhen, China). We are a bunch of Chinese high school students who are devoted to learning about child marriage both in China and worldwide and raising public awareness of this problem. 🤗🤗🤗

What we do as a club❓
Firstly, we hold an one-hour weekly ECA session as a class to investigate different topics under child marriage with our members. Our focus is knowledge-based learning and discussions during this session, which opens up topics such as but not limited to child marriage in China & in the globe, girls’ education and poverty, policy-making on child marriage in different cultures, and child marriage and gender equality.
Secondly, we also aim to host various kinds of activities that include all students in SCIE. Students – both ones who are and aren’t members of GNB – are all welcomed to participate in our upcoming online seminars/debates particularly concerning topics relevant to child marriage!
Moreover, we also have a unique focus on advertising and promoting GNB through social media – of both Chinese and international platforms. We aim to create educational posts regarding the issue of child marriage GNB’s progress in it to maximize our impact and display our profile to a larger audience. 🤩🤩🤩

Following our aim of “support, pioneer and educate” as well as UNICEF’s goals, we want to be a forerunner in educating the public on the issue of child marriage and creating a community that better supports, protects girls! 🥰🥰🤩

Where does our inspiration first come from❓
The inspiration of GNB as a club first originated from UNICEF’s call for actions on fighting against child marriage 🇺🇳🇺🇳 (more info see https://www.unicef.org/protection/child-marriage). As a group of young social activists, we think it a wonderful idea to align GNB with UNICEF to support girls who are under the pressure of child marriage; through this, we hope to amplify the voices unheard at the corners of our world.

Why do we run this channel/account❓
We want GNB’s channel to be one that raises public awareness on the issue of child marriage, which is a social problem long neglected by people. We want to create educational posts available to the mass global citizens here and share our findings or thoughts with you. Through this channel, we also wish to highlight GNB’s progress and unite people who are also concerned with the problem(s) we are concerned with; we believe that in this way, our efforts can be strengthened, our voices can be amplified, and our girls from all around the world can be saved. 🥰🤗

How can you help us with the issue of child marriage❓
To support GNB, you can follow this account and keep track on our progress, because in doing so more people can know about us and what we are fighting for. Also, our channel might post updates on future events that need collective support from all of you, so always keep up with us! 🤗🤗🤗
To support our community, we highly recommend you follow UNICEF and/or other NGOs that offer assistance to girls under the pressure of child marriage, poverty, deprivation of education, sexism and so on. Some of the existing organizations have a wider reach of charity and encourage public support from ways such as fundraising. 💕❤️❤️
