NeuPAN is a groundbreaking solution for real-time, highly accurate, map-free, and environment-invariant robot navigation in cluttered environments, tested on AgileX Robotics' LIMO robot platform.
Key Innovations:
✨ Direct mapping from raw points to learned multi-frame distance space, avoiding error propagation
✨ Interpretable end-to-end model-based learning for provable convergence
NeuPAN leverages a tightly-coupled perception-locomotion framework and solves a high-dimensional mathematical model using a plug-and-play proximal alternating-minimization network (PAN) with neurons in the loop.
This enables seamless integration of data and knowledge engines, generating real-time, physically interpretable motions directly from point clouds.
Evaluated on the LIMO robot, as well as car-like robots and autonomous vehicles in simulated and real-world environments, NeuPAN outperforms benchmarks in accuracy, efficiency, robustness, and generalization capabilities across cluttered sandboxes, offices, corridors, and parking lots.
