Our master builder Angel González is working on four container units at our workshop just south of San Ramón. One is an L-shaped container home that will be completely off-grid, with solar electricity, water catchment and satellite TV. Angel cut a 40ft refrigerated high-cube shipping container in half. The two 20ft sections will be transported and welded together onsite on the client's property near Pavones. This rough floorplan sketch gives an idea. The other three that Angel is building are the same. Each of the three refrigerated shipping containers is divided by a wall into two self-contained studio apartments, with a sliding door entrance, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette, totaling six in all. We are building a unique container home for a client with a remote property near Pavones in Costa Rica's southern zone. As there are no accessible water or electricity utilities, the container home will be fully off-grid, with solar power, water catchment, and satellite TV. To accommodate the entry to her property along a primitive road, she asked that we cut the 40-foot refrigerated container into two sections, and join them in an L-shape (see the initial sketch in the photos below). Builder Angel González will do as much as he can, such as almost all of the interior, at our workshop in San Ramón. The two sections will be taken to the property separately and welded together there, the plumbing and electricity will be connected, and thew off-grid segments installed.
