Frau Perchta was known as a goddess in Southern Germanic paganism in the Alpine countries. Her name means “the bright one”. Perchta seems to have a dual nature – she is described as kind or violent, and physically she may appear either as beautiful and white as snow like her name or as elderly and haggard.
Perchta was said to roam the countryside in midwinter, and to enter homes during the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany in search of the good kids who would receive a small silver coin in their shoe; while the bad kids were punished, but let's not get into details (German stories are really grim).

Winter holydays, Christmas, so I like to revisit my folklore drawings. This one I like because I made it at my friend's place while talking about beauty of fresco ornaments and patterns and how to use them on my fairytale illustrations. So I made this pair of elves resembling the characters.😎😍

Baldr (Old Norse: [ˈbɑldz̠]; anglicised Balder, Icelandic: Baldur) is the god of light, joy, purity, and the summer sun in Norse mythology, and a son of the god Óðinn and the goddess F***g. According to the Prose Edda (an Old Norse work of literature), Balder was so universally loved that his mother F***g was able to exact from all living things a promise to never harm him. However, she bypassed mistletoe, believing it too young to be a danger, and so it was eventually used to slay him.
