Talsat Multimedia Development LTD has entered into a joint venture with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) through its subsidiary Iris Gateway Satellite Services Limited with the aim of creating a regional multimedia telecommunication centre with the potential to target the markets of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) offering the highest quality services at competitive prices.

Talsat's legal advisor, Yiannos Georgiades, said that this cooperation is a major concern for Cyprus. This is an investment that comes from entrepreneurs with know-how and who are experienced in this field from Jordan and Qatar and contributes to the upgrading of international satellite connections.

A special ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia on the occasion of the signing of an agreement between the parties in the presence of official guests including CYTA President Michalis Ioannides, the President of the Radio and Television Authority Rona Petri, the Commissioner for Telecommunications George Michaelides, the Ambassador of Jordan and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Qatar.

The event was addressed by the President of the Telecommunications Authority Michalis Ioannidis and the president of Talsat, Abdulaziz M. Al Delaimi from Qatar, who stressed the importance of this cooperation in relation to the establishment of Cyprus as a telecommunications hub of international interconnection and service provision in the Eastern Mediterranean, which in fact opens the doors for more collaborations and investments from such neighboring countries in this field but also in other areas such as the provision of services in the field of oil and gas.

The founder and director of Talsat, Marwan M. Al-Tal, served for many years as vice president of the well-known international satellite company Eutelsat with many years of experience in this field and is familiar with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority. He believes that the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority is a very serious company with excellent infrastructure and is very proud to cooperate with such a company. He considers Cyprus as an ideal destination for investments in the field of telecommunications, innovation and technology.
