|Narcissus|
Narcissus are some of the first flowers we of springtime symbolising rebirth and new beginnings.

Narcissus, in Greek mythology, the son of the river god Cephissus and the nymph Liriope. He was distinguished for his beauty. His rejection of the love of the nymph Echo drew upon him the vengeance of the gods. He fell in love with his own reflection in the waters of a spring and pined away;the flower that bears his name sprang up where he died.

After the Rain…
A wonderful collaboration with The Tang Concept

[submission for New Covent Garden Market facade 2021 Competition]


Description:
The main aim of our proposal was to transmit a positive and hopeful message against all negativity caused by the pandemic over the last year. For this reason, the source of inspiration becomes the rainbow-symbol of hope. and promise of better times to come.
In more detail, our proposal suggests gathering vegetables, fruits, and flowers in different groups according to rainbow’s colour palette: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. This way the different monochromatic compositions line up, the one next to each other shaping a rainbow in an abstract way. This way, market’s protagonists: fruits, vegetables and flowers create an array of brilliant colours to transmit a powerful and cheerful message.
The seven monochromatic compositions are made, preserved in ice blocks and then photographed in different stages The use of ice offers a unique aspect to the project by creating an interesting blend of patterns, providing at the same time the possibility to observe flowers, fruits and vegetables from a very different perspective. In a more metaphoric / allegoric point of view, the idea of using ice blocks symbolizes all “suspended/ “frozen” moments each one lost over the lockdown that were somehow preserved. They are now ready to be lived again that the storm has passed.
In concussion, with our proposed artwork, becomes a colorful and powerful symbol of hope and anticipation, reminding people passing by that there is always a rainbow of hope at the end of every storm.

Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself. These flowers are unique in that they have the ability to provide energy in the form of nourishment and vibrancy—attributes which mirror the sun and the energy provided by its heat and light.

Sunflowers are known for being “happy” flowers, making them the perfect gift to bring joy to someone’s day.
