We are delighted to share the news that our beloved director Adonis Florides was awarded the “BEST DIRECTOR” ORPHEUS AWARD for the film “AFRICA STAR” at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival !

The film was characterised as “a beautifully crafted and powerful tale of intergenerational trauma, where the aftershocks of war keep ripping the ground out from under its protagonist’s feet. Exquisitely shot, with beautifully framed chiaroscuro images, this film is a self-assured example of directorial ambition and excellence.”

Best Cypriot Director Award "for its innovative direction in crafting a world where characters grapple with the fluidity of time, this film emerges as a unique voice in Cypriot cinema [inviting] audiences into a journey of self-discovery, pushing the boundaries of storytelling", as well as the Best Cypriot Film Award, which the International Jury praised "for its originality which offers a fresh perspective on the science fiction genre through a minimalist approach and deliberate pacing, this film stands out with its clever use of urban landscapes, as well as depiction of female experience in themes such as relationships and motherhood, marking a significant achievement in Cypriot cinema".

Our film EMBRYO LARVA BUTTERFFLY, written and directed by Kyros Papavassiliou, is coming to Athens on April 4th for a series of screenings by Weirdwave, exclusively at cinema ANDRORA!

Starting on Thursday 4th until Wednesday 10th of April with screenings everyday at 18:15 & 20:00.

On Thursday 4/4 and Friday 5/4, after the 20:00 pm screening a Q&A with the director will follow.

AFRICA STAR Africa Star follows three generations of Cypriot women – mother, daughter, and granddaughter – whose lives were tragically altered by one man’s submission to temptation. Plagued by guilt over his act in 1945 and his failure to make amends in 1967, the now ailing octogenarian makes....
