Temperatures have been increasing and it is very important to keep well hydrated.

WHY do we need to keep well hydrated?
• 70% of human body is made up of water
• To avoid dehydration
• To keep our kidneys functioning well

WHAT counts towards our fluid intake?
• Water, lower fat milk and low-sugar drinks including tea and coffee can count towards fluid intake but are not equivalent to water.
• Fruit juice counts but limit 1 small glass as it is high in sugars (although these are natural sugars, they are still sugars, yes even freshly squeezed orange juice).
• Alcohol does NOT count.

HOW MUCH do we need?
• Generally, adults need about 6-8 glasses (1.5-2litres) of fluids a day.
• At high temperatures: 8-12 glasses (2-3litres) of fluids a day.
• If you drink coffee, limit to 2-3 cups a day.

Soup season!!!
Κολοκυθόσουπα που θα λατρέψετε.

Υλικά (σερβίρει 4 άτομα)
1 κιλό (kg) κολοκύθι κόκκινο, σε κύβους
1 μεγάλο κρεμμύδι, ψιλοκομμένο
2 μέτρια καρότα, σε κομματάκια
2 κουταλιές της σούπας (κ.σ.) ελαιόλαδο
Μπαχαρικά για γεύση: πάπρικα, ζωμό λαχανικών, αλάτι, μαύρο πιπέρι

Διαδικασία
1. Τσιγαρίζουμε το κρεμμύδι με το ελαιόλαδο μέχρι να πάρει λίγο χρώμα.
2. Βάζουμε όλα τα υλικά σε μία κατσαρόλα και το σκεπάζουμε με νερό. Βράζουμε μέχρι να μαλακώσουν και σβήνουμε την φωτιά.
3. Τα πλεντάρουμε όλα μαζί.
4. Σερβίρετε με κρουτόνια και την αγαπημένη σας πηγή πρωτεΐνης για ένα ολοκληρωμένο γεύμα.

Superfoods

The word is usually used to describe a food or drink that’s ‘highly nutritious’ – from quinoa, green tea, coconut oil, chia seeds and other – although there’s no set legal definition and is not a medical term.

‘Highly nutritious’ refers to foods rich in nutrients such as protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. But all foods are nutritious some more than others.

Superfoods get all the hype but what does the evidence has to say?
It can mislead people into believing that only these foods (superfoods) are nutrient dense and should be consumed daily to achieve good health.

Let’s not forget the staples, everyday foods that can be equally (and even more) nutritious, and cheaper!

Fat loss is not a linear journey. It is going to be a bumpy ride… yet an interesting and most importantly informative one!

Healthy weight loss is around 0.5-1kg per week for most people to avoid losing muscle mass and to target loss of fat mass. Some loss of muscle mass is expected during your weight loss journey.

Sharing some of my patients’ results anonymously to maintain confidentiality. All these patients consented for the results to be shared.
