I've been sharing a lot about kundalini yoga recently, and it's because it's such a powerful technology that allows you to raise your awareness and consciousness.

Kundalini energy can be seen as our truest and most creative life force energy and through practise allows you to recognise the light inside of ourselves.

Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that releases your Kundalini energy or Shakti through practises such as pranayama (breathwork), repetitive kriyas (exercise sets) and mantra (chanting). 🧡

🐍Kundalini energy is located at the base of the spine, and through kriyas we unlock and shift this energy so it's able to flow freely through your body.

Kundalini yoga is NOT for you if:

- you don't want to reach your infinite potential 🤩
- you don't want to connect to body wisdom
- you don't want to experience a personal awakening
- you don't want to reduce stress 🪷
- you aren't interested in experiencing you powerful energy system
- you don't want to unlearn negative behavioral patterns
- you don't want to improve your bodily systems including endocrine and lymphatic
- you don't want to remove blockages in the emotional, mental and physical bodies🤲

When we start to let go of the fluctuations of the mind between pleasure and pain, we can enjoy the beauty in the present moment, without attaching emotions about success or failure to every situation.

Ultimately, practicing present-moment awareness is the art of letting go.

Some other meanings:

✨relax the entire body, allow the mind to do what it pleases while you focus on your breath.

✨experience your emotion or thought in full. Literally be completely present with the uncomfortable thoughts.

✨ to truly enjoy what we have whilst we have it. Realizing the impermanent nature of both pleasure and pain. Finding peace and gratitude in the present moment.

The more we practice, the more the mind becomes still.

Camel Flex! An amazing a super simple way to release or create energy in the lower spine.

Kundalini yoga is an ancient technology which has been handed down through a series of teachers and students (the golden chain).

There's a reason so many people have practised it for thousands of years - because it actually works in releasing stagnant energy that might have become trapped in the body, connects you to all that is, and of course - stimulates glands and organs in the body!

You can practise this sitting on a chair and keep the hands on the knees if sitting cross legged isn't available for you.

🌼Do you love being in nature? Us too!

There's nothing quite like being in the midst of nature is there - and that's why we decided to host our 2nd retreat back up in the mountains!

This is one of the views from our lovely home during our Kundalini & Hatha Yoga Retreat in June.

You can picture the night sky, the stars for all the see without artificial light.

🌲You can hear the silence (until we get there!) nothing but the sound of the life in the forest which surrounds us.

I saw something recently that said:

"If you got bitten by a snake, you focus on looking after the bite and healing the bite. You don't try and track down the snake and ask it why it bit you."

That hit me in the feels!

In my life I would always want to know the 'why'. Why did they do that? Why did I get treated that way? Why why why why!

It doesn't always matter why, what's important is to accept that whatever has happened, has, and take steps to move forwards, instead of milling over and over and over why it did.

It did. Maybe we had lessons to learn, maybe another person had lessons to learn.

If you believe in the universal laws of karma, the universe always rights itself.

And instead of giving more of our precious time to the past, focus instead on the presence: the gift of the present moment.

It's the only thing that exists, right here and right now.

And when we are truly in presence, the past can reveal itself to us, if and when it is time.

How wonderful would it be to do everything with joy and love?

So often we think 'I NEED to clean, I HAVE to cook, I HAVE to work out' and it becomes a chore that we're reluctant to do.

Try flipping the narrative on it's head:

'I get to cook! I get to clean! I WANT to work out!'

How much more enjoyable life is and the mundane becomes filled with love💜

Move with joy, help people with joy, support each other with joy, exercise with love!

Camel flow. 🐫🐪

I bloody love this asana! I really feel like I've had about 10 espressos after a backbend, they're so energizing yet relaxing at the same time?! (does anyone know what I mean?! lol)

Ustrasana or camel pose can be pretty intense for the spine. I warm up by moving through this before I come into the asana.

Amazing asana to open up the front body, the thoracic spine and help to strenghten the muscles in the back.

NEVER SKIP SAVASANA!

Hands up if you never want to stay in Savasana in class, or if you're following a video along at home you get up and switch it off! (used to be me!)

The body has been working and stretching and sweating, opening and releasing, and FINALLY has the opportunity to relax, fully take in, and appreciate the physical and emotional benefits of releasing tension.

It’s a chance to lie with your thoughts and emotions without trying to change or manipulate them - perhaps the greatest benefit of Savasana is that it requires us to be still, to listen, to receive.

We get so caught up in the doing, in the performing, not only on the mat but in life as well. What an absolute treat it is to take a few minutes after a practice to experience the benefits of everything you've just done!

Balance really is a form of meditation. When the mind is very busy and we're standing on one leg, it's likely we will fall! We need to find focus and a still and steady mind to hold for longer periods of time.

Balance of course is also fantastic for strength and stability!

I don't know about you, but I always have super tight hamstrings, especially in the mornings. This is a good sequence to play around with to target the back of the legs. You'll have to watch closely!

1. High lunge
2. Super awkward balance (back heel lifted and front toes lifted)
3. Long halfway pyramid with the back heel lifted
4. Dancing Shiva (my fav!)
5. Warrior 3
6. Half moon
7. Reverse Warrior with straight legs
8. Triangle pose
9. Revolved triangle
10. Downward facing dog

I invite you ALL to come and hang out in your comfy clothes! Sometimes students come in their matching skin tight Lulu Lemons and that's absolutely fine, but it's ALSO fine to come to class in something baggy and old, I don't even care if it's got holes in it!

You're welcome to wear your trendy leotards to humble pyjamas when you practise with me.

Traditionally yoga practitioners would wear light and airy clothes like dhotis and saris, made from cotton or other breathable fabrics. The idea was that there should be as little obstruction as possible. Loose clothing alsoo tends to be more breathable than tight-fitting clothes, allowing air to circulate and keeping you cool baby!

When did we start putting so much focus on what we wear in our yoga practise and not on how it feels?
