The whole letter to these Thessalonians has been about placing their eyes of the coming of Jesus Christ. They were to live their lives in the light of eternity. Be ready for his coming. He is coming like a thief in the night and knowing that he is coming means that we must live our lives differently now. So let us look at some of the final instructions Paul gives to these Christians to encourage to be blameless when the Lord Jesus returns.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 changes our outlook on life and increases trust in God. Recognizing that everything that happens in life can only happen because God is allowing it to, gives us peace. It helps us to look for the good in bad situations and it’s the motivation we need to muster up praise when trials come. The Apostle Paul addresses the Christians in Thessalonica and emphasizes the value of community, love and hope in Christ. Chapter 5, specifically, deals with how Christians should live while awaiting Christ's return. Amidst instructions on various aspects of Christian living, verse 11 stands out as a directive for positive, supportive interaction among believers.

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to fill the lives of those believers who were gathered in that upper room. The true significance of Pentecost is that from that moment on, all those who are surrendered to Jesus as their Lord, can be filled with the very Spirit of God! This Sunday we will have a special prayer-focused service led by Charlotte and Pastor Matt.

Paul made no secret of His great love, deep affection and sincere concern for the believers in Thessalonica. May we be like Paul, and remember to lift up our fellow Christian brothers and sisters in continuous and loving prayer and heartfelt intercessions.

God has given us His Word to reveal Himself, His redemptive plan, His moral perfection and His eternal Love. God uses His Word to transform us to new creations in Him as well as prepare us for persecution and spiritual opposition. When we receive God’s Word, we experience it’s effective work in our lives. In verses 13-20 Paul expresses his gratitude to God for The Thessalonian Church who remained faithful and full of joy in persecution.
