A group of 's associates and summer associates recently volunteered their time at PCs for People as part of the firm’s partnership with Business Volunteers Unlimited.

PCs for People provide the opportunity for all low-income individuals and nonprofits to benefit from the life-changing impact of computers and mobile internet. To support the cause, the volunteers sorted through donations, processed desktops and laptops, participated in refurbishing, and performed functionality tests on products.

As part of our ongoing celebrations for Global Pride Month, recently came together from across the globe to hear Yuli Kim from Workplace Pride speak about the power of allyship. Key takeaways included recognizing that allyship is a journey and understanding how everyone can engage at various levels.

Later in the week, colleagues saw Yuli and others from Workplace Pride in The Hague at the annual Workplace Pride International Conference. The firm was especially thankful for the chance to share industry insights during a panel discussion featuring perspectives from Paris Associate Victor Dransard.

Thank you to Workplace Pride for the ongoing collaboration and support. This important work requires collective focus and sustainable efforts all year long.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, earlier this week the London Legal Walk 2024 brought together legal professionals to walk 10 km across London while raising funds for free legal advice services on the frontline. As the cost of living rises, the need for free legal help with debt, benefits, housing, asylum and domestic violence is greater than ever. These organisations provide crucial support to individuals in need, ensuring access to justice for all.

Earlier this week, 🇩🇪 proudly participated in the official launch event of Tent Partnership for Refugees Deutschland. With over 2 million refugees, Germany is now the third largest refugee-hosting country in the world.

This strong coalition of businesses is set to make significant strides in supporting refugees and their integration into the workforce. As a firm, we are grateful to Tent for uniting businesses to drive positive change.

Our membership in Germany complements our existing partnerships with Tent across the UK, France, Poland and Spain.

Prague recently took part in the virtual sports challenge for Centrum Paraple. The proceeds from entry fees help to finance the Paraple Center's main service, a three-week residential social rehabilitation for those with spinal cord damage.

The Paraple Center has been helping people in wheelchairs with spinal cord injuries and their families cope with difficult life situations since 1994. It provides support for those who have just become paralyzed after an accident or as a result of an illness, as well as for those who have been living like this for a long time.

Our team of runners, walkers and bikers ranked #20 with 1,092 km completed!

's Sabina Krajíčková was on vacation at the time, which meant she contributed an impressive 300 km while walking up Mount Huashan in China, often cited as one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. What an achievement!

Prague recently hosted the final rounds of an exciting international private law moot court competition. Klára Drličková, an Associate Professor at Masaryk University and ELSA Brno collaborated with the team to create a compelling and intricate case centered around the delivery of technology for producing green energy from plastics.

Participating teams initially submitted written arguments for either the plaintiff or the defendant. After a thorough review, the top four teams were selected to advance to the oral rounds, giving students the opportunity to develop their written and oral advocacy skills.

Congratulations to Team Dépreçage, and thank you to all participants, ELSA Brno, and Masaryk University for attending.

We look forward to the numerous celebrations and engagements that our colleagues will participate in throughout Global Pride Month 2024.

In May, Prague participated in a virtual charity run/walk for Běh pro Paraple 2024 to support those with limited mobility. Our team of runners, walkers and bikers ranked no. 20 with 1092km in total out of 66 teams.

Our team member, Sabina Krajíčková, was on vacation then, making it easier for her to contribute with an amazing 300 km! You can see a throwback photo from the thrilling Mount Huashan in China, often cited as one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. What a great achievement!

Last weekend, Brussels participated in the Brussels 20km Legal Run, which brings together individuals working at international law firms in Brussels to join forces and participate in the annual run through Brussels.

Individuals participated and fundraised for La Flèche —Maison d’enfants Reine Marie-Henriette asbl, a charity that supports over 200 children each year by providing care and support for ages 0-18 years.

celebrated National Pro Bono Day this week by joining the Sydney and Perth Walks for Justice to raise funds for organizations that provide access to justice for those most in need, such as Law Access, Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) and National Justice Project (NJP).

Our Sydney Office hosted employees from both RACS and NJP, where colleagues walked the event together as the firm are proud to support the wonderful work of National Justice Project Refugee Advice & Casework Service and LawAccess.

's Annalisa Allegrini and the Milan office were recognised by Associazione CAF as “Champions for Solidarity” for the 2023-2024 season. Annalisa Allegrini and Noemi De Micco received the award for having actively participated in numerous charitable initiatives, for their volunteer projects and for having fundraised the most in the Annual National Milan Marathon.

This initiative has been an opportunity for many of us to learn something new, to learn about new realities but most importantly has been an opportunity to help. Congratulations to Senior Partner Frederick Nance and his wife Jakki who were recently honored by Autism Speaks for their commitment to advocating for access and inclusion of the neurodiverse. It was a further honor for proud parents Jakki and Fred to be introduced by their son Ricky, who also served as the assistant emcee and auctioneer for the event.

The Cleveland Clinic CEO Dr. Tom Mihaljevic kicked off the evening as the Honorary Chair. The firm proudly sponsored the event, and firm Global Managing Partner Michele Lynn Connell attended in a show of support along with several clients.

Become a Squire for a Day, our unique tailor-made program for promising law students, was held in the Prague office last Friday, May 3. It enabled students to meet our team, experience a working day in the office, and learn as much as possible about each team's practices and other activities.

As you can see from the photos, the event was not only enriching but fun, too! We can't wait until next year to share even more insight into the life within our team in Prague.

Throughout May, we are proud to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, a tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America’s history and are instrumental in its future success.

This year is particularly momentous as we mark the 100th anniversary of the Immigration Act of 1924, recognizing the resilience and contributions of AAPI communities throughout history.

🤝 During the holy month of Ramadan, we hosted a "Fast for a Day" initiative across our UK offices, where joined their Muslim friends, connections and colleagues to fast from sunrise to sunset. The initiative not only fostered unity but also raised funds to support respective office-nominated charities. Iftar Dinners were then held in the evenings, allowing colleagues to celebrate together and learn about cultural differences.

🍴The spirit and celebrations extended beyond the UK, with Iftar Dinners and Eid celebrations taking place right across our global network, where clients and colleagues gathered to celebrate and share traditions together.

🎾 🇪🇸 enjoyed their annual padel tournament over the weekend - a day filled with multiple teams competing and honing their skills on the court, with a chance to win prizes.

🥌 Resident curler Simona led the group as they embraced the ice and enjoyed a fun and challenging curling session together.

Trying out something new is a great way of bringing the team together!

Yesterday, we traded keyboards for curling stones and took on the ice for some fun team-building!

🥌 We are lucky enough to have our own resident curler Simona, who showed us how it's done!

🌟 Despite most of us being first-timers, we embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. It was a hilarious mix of slips, slides, and spectacular fails, but also many impressive shots.

We are grateful for moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to have such an awesome bunch of colleagues!

⚽ Birmingham recently took part in the Taylor Wimpey West Midlands annual charity football 6-a-side in aid of The Matt Gallagher Foundation .

Former Coventry Rugby Club player, Matt Gallagher was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in October 2023 and has set up the Foundation to help raise awareness for the disease and to raise much-needed funds for people living with this terminal illness in the West Midlands area.

Despite (narrowly) missing out on a trophy this year, our team very much look forward to next year's fundraiser already!

Prague organized a fundraising exhibition for “Children of War 2024” this week to support this extraordinary initiative brought to us by David Elley and Kateřina Bolinová.

David with Tanya, his long-time Ukrainian friend in France, decided to collect Ukrainian children’s art and bring it back to the West to increase awareness about the war and to raise funds for Ukraine. David encountered artists Nataliya (professor at Lviv Polytechnic) and Yustyna Pavlyuk (masters student at Lviv Polytechnic), who mainly work with children and decided to bring their children’s artworks out of Ukraine, to exhibit them in multiple places.

This is what Nataliya says about the healing effect of the painting on the children´s souls: "The art of children is the purest form of expression, in my opinion as an artist. There is a direct connection from the child's heart to the paintbrush."

David became a civilian volunteer for Ukraine in late 2023 and gave service in Lviv Volunteer Kitchen and Ant’s Kitchen (Мурашник) in Kyiv in January and February 2024. “Children of War” exhibition is now a full-time volunteer activity for David and with Nataliya and Yustyna, he dedicates his time to telling the stories of Ukrainian children through art. Stories, which no child should ever have to tell.

Please join us and raise awareness about David and his project which he so kindly brought to us in Prague.

It was back-to-school for last Friday! Matej Pustay and Tamara Korešová from our International Dispute Resolution Group designed a practical workshop filled with hands-on activities and insights from real cases to give the students of Law Faculty, Masaryk University, a deeper understanding of the field of international commercial arbitration. Seeing the engagement and enthusiasm from the attendees was truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a success!
