Interesting fact from history :)

🧊 Photographs from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when refrigerators were not powered by electricity but kept cold by a slowly melting block of ice.
And because at that era there were no dams on the Vltava, which let relatively warm water into the river from the bottom of the dam reservoir, the Vltava froze over every year. At that time, ice was "mined" all winter and kept in an ice house in Prague's district Braník.
From there, it was distributed throughout the year by horse-drawn carriages to Prague households.
