June’s member of the month is ⭐️Mariano Macchi⭐️

Mariano is a software developer currently working remotely for Italian companies. Half Argentinian and half Ecuadorian, he grew up in Milan, the city he considers his home. Because of his mixed background, he’s always felt at home in international environments and he’s been a huge fan of Locus since he joined in April.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling and listening to music. He’s also a great cook; his main specialities are risotto and empanadas. You can ask him for the recipes at any of our events he always makes sure to attend.

We often get asked how bring people together and foster a strong community. While we can name many reasons, one of the simplest yet most effective is the layout of our office. A big open space where people can sit together, share ideas and build relationships naturally 👫

Congratulations to Locus 2024 Ping Pong Tournament winners 👏🏓

🥇 Jack - Despite joining the tournament late, he remained unbeatable throughout!
🥈 Chris - His main goal was to beat Kenji, and he succeeded! Plus, he walked away with a silver medal!
🥉 Kenji - Initially the favorite, he faced some unexpected challenges but fought hard to secure a well-deserved bronze.

We're happy to see that our ping pong table is bringing people together this summer. The tournament may be over, but the fun continues for the rest of the season! 🌞🏓

Locus Cottage Weekend 2024 Edition 🙌​

We went on a short weekend getaway to enjoy some time together in the beautiful Czech countryside 🌳🏰 Fun ping pong matches, pool games, a castle hike, and BBQ delights 🏓🔥

May’s member of the month is ⭐️ Verónica Sotelo ⭐️

Originally from Galicia, Spain, Verónica has been living in Prague for the past four years and a half, following her time in Canada. She is an architect and co-owner of Dropstudio, where she works on a variety of projects, from residential to urban projects. She likes experimenting with the methodology of research and the boundaries of architecture at Unbuilt Office.

Verónica is an avid reader and loyal member of our book club. She is also a music enthusiast and enjoys taking a cold swim in the ocean in Spain whenever she has the chance.

To celebrate the , we hosted a pitch-your-business event at the end of our free open house day. 🇪🇺💻

From architecture projects to mindfulness apps, our members introduced their project or business idea with a 5-minute presentation. 🎯

April’s member of the month is ⭐️Tyler Michalek⭐️

Tyler, originally from Texas has spent the past decade working odd jobs in strange places. These days, he calls Prague home, where he has established a wonderful community of international friends at Locus.

As a freelance content producer and marketer, he thrives in creative settings, and when he isn’t doing client work, you might find him at Locus, writing. Outside of the office, Tyler enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and analogue photography.

It’s official: Locus is opening a new office!🥳

We marked the occasion on Tuesday by inviting our members to preview the space and toast to this new exciting opening with a glass of Prosecco 🥂

Opening a second office gives us the possibility to expand our international community even further and to provide our members with an additional space where they can work comfortably.

March’s member of the month is ⭐️Christophe Golle⭐️

After having lived in different cities across Europe, Chris has decided to settle in Prague, where he has been part of our international community for a while. His career mirrors his personal passion for health and fitness.

When he’s away from the yoga mat, Chris is putting the finishing touches to a new type of habit tracker. Designed in Locus, it’s a physical 21-day calendar made of wood and ribbons that rises on the wall each time you fulfill your habit. It comes with 100 ideas of new habits to try, from meditation to relationships to fitness. When you turn it, it gives you a daily expert tip on how to make your habit stick.

February’s member of the month is ⭐️Drahomíra Rezková ⭐️

Drahomíra - known by everyone as Dáda - is an interpreter, translator, and subtitler. She has turned her passion for cinema and tv series into her job, with clients of the likes of Netflix entrusting her with their projects. Originally from the Czech Republic, her love for foreign languages has drawn her to Locus, where she found her place in our international community. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors and traveling, and she’s also a member of our book club.

On Saturday, our members enjoyed a bike ride along the northern riverside of Prague. And of course, we had to make a pitstop for some drinks to recharge 🚲☀️🍻

Our shared kitchen is the perfect spot for breaks, where our members share their stories and exchange their ideas over a nice cup of coffee (or tea) ☕️ 🙌

For our Book Club this month we read If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio, which is set at a prestigious drama school where a murder is committed. To spice up the discussion, we dressed in proper Dark Academia clothes (or at least we tried to 😀).

Happy Halloween! We got in the spirit on Friday with our best costumes and pumpkin carving. Our amazing members at Locus make every day at work a treat! 🍭🎃

⭐Tomáš Volek⭐ is one of the members who's most involved in the community. Not missing a single weekly lunch and even leading some events himself, such as a guided tour of Prague or a wine tasting. He's also part of the Book Club and one of the initiators of our successful Whisky Club.

One of his passions is wine, which he imports from France and sells in the Czech Republic through his small business Víno s Příběhem. 🍷

Fun fact about Tomáš - if you let him talk, he'll go on for hours. But he's always nice to hang out with!

Today, together with many other coworkings around Europe we are celebrating the 1st European Coworking Day! We want to make a toast to coworking and community but also acknowledge our impact on individuals and society.

Member of the month April: Sarah Linke ⭐️
There is this one member that we have that people are just always happy to see. She is kind and funny, interesting and creative. Sarah is a regular at our events and she is also one of the Locus yoga teachers.

Sarah is a talented writer and we just can't wait for her to share her work with us. In her free time she enjoys reading, creating short IG stories and cheering for her favourite NFL team, the Denver Broncos.

✨Sylvain Josserand✨ is not always the loudest but he is one of the kindest members. He is a regular on the Locus events and one of the members that visited the most countries. In the past month he brought us his homemade mochis and he organised a St. Patrick's party at the local Pub. Every week he let us use his place for yoga. If you need business advice, he is happy to have a talk with you.

Sylvain is an entrepreneur and software developer. He specialises in Python, SQL, and performance optimisation and is the owner of the company called Parseur. In his free time he enjoys travelling and is passionate about cheese, tennis, beer and photography.

Last Saturday we embarked on a Hidden Gems of Prague guided tour led by one of our Locus members, a local who knows the city inside out! Thank you Tomas for the nice walk and all the interesting facts 🫶
