Hi! Before the Covid pandemic, that means before 2020, the picturesque Cesky Krumlov experienced overturism with large groups that hit this little town every day. At that time I suggested to foreign visitors to rather avoid this destination and/or to stay over a night to enjoy the town in the evening/morning when the groups are gone. I travel to regularly for winter and for (because it is close to Sumava National park) and I must admit, that the town is better now regarding the tourism. Actually, it was not crowded at all when I visited it on a day trip from Prague recently! I suggest to combine a visit to Cesky Krumlov with a stop at which is nearby. I love this trip destination indeed! Here are just a few snapshots to enjoy. M.

Hi! I just returned from my 18 days long holiday spent in the Greek island Corfu with my family. I am a slow traveller, so I spend it on 3 different locations only: First I stayed by the beach during a yoga retreat, then in the rural countryside and finally in the capital town Kerkyra. All three places were fantastic, I managed to switch off and recharge, read books, swim in the sea, sunbath, sing, sleep, discover off-the-beaten path places, meditate, watch sunsets every day, interact with locals, eat well, drink (wine) reasonably, breath freely... Well, I am back in Prague and ready to lead tours for you again. Here are only a few impressions from my holiday to let you know that I am alive and going to answer your emails within the next few days. Thank you for your patience! M.

Hi! I would like to share with you an updated photo gallery which focus on the Jewish writer Franz Kafka and his life and work in Prague. The photo gallery includes pictures from the Kafka Museum as well as pictures of Kafka's Memorials that you can find in Prague, Kafka's grave situated in the New Jewish cemetery in Prague, and/or culture events inspired by Kafka's books (F.e. ballet performance "The Trial" which is held in the Estate's Theater in Prague during the season 2019/2020). For more information about the unique performance, please visit the website of the National Theater: https://www.narodni-divadlo.cz/en/programme

I am sure you have heart of the writer Franz Kafka already, haven't you? Kafka's books belong on a list of a compulsory high school readings but as we say in the Czech Republic: "Everyone knows gossips from Kafka's life but no one reads his books (unfortunately)". To be honest, when I read Kafka's famous novel Metamorphosis as a teenage student, I didn't understand it. Kafka seemed as a hopeless, week and a depressing person to me. I read his books again later at the age of an adulthood (when I studied to become a professional tour guide in Prague :-) and I realized that Kafka is great! I would say his books are kind of fun (absurd and grotesque fun) and he uses a subtle irony and humor that I haven't noticed before. I think that Kafka's work matures like wine. The more life experience you have, the better you will understand his writings I think. That is to say: don't be scared of Kafka! Open his short novel Metamorphosis to get started and I promise that it may be a surprisingly enjoyable experience for you!

Obviously I am Kafka's great fan and I lead tours to Kafka's Museum in Prague, to the New Jewish cemetery where you can find Kafka's grave and generally speaking I lead Literary and Movie specialized tours upon a visitor's request, too. I also visit culture performances based on Kafka's books. Recently I have thoroughly enjoyed a ballet performance held in the Estate's Theater in Prague based on Kafka's novel The Trial. It was a thrilling and amazing 1,5 hours performance and couldn't say enough great things about it. The music, the scene, the dance movements! It is really hard to describe it, so I highly recommend to come and see it yourself!

And if you are still hesitating about Kafka's work and you are not sure what he wrote about, here is a short encyclopedic summary:

Franz Kafka (1883 - 1924) was a German writing Bohemian novelist and short-story writer, widely regarded as one of the major figures of the 20th century literature. His work, which fuses elements of realism and the fantastic, typically features isolated protagonists facing bizarre and surrealistic predicaments and incomprehensible socio-bureaucratic powers, and has been interpreted as exploring themes of alienation, existential anxiety, guilt and absurdity (with a pinch of humor!). His best known works include "Die Verwandlung" (The Metamorphosis), "Der Process" (The Trial), "Das Schloss" (The Castle). The term Kafkaesque as entered the English language to describe situations like those found in his writing.

During the tours around the Jewish quarter in Prague I speak about Franz Kafka regularly, so you can be sure that will not miss that topic anyway :-)
