Simply explained - possible for everyone (with some effort and some guidance)

The internal senses

The internal training of Taiji begins by listening and working with the internal senses of the body relating to movement.

First the muscle-sensors communicating the contraction and release of the muscles, and the joint-sensors communicating the precise position of the body, and later when the body has gained some freedom of movement and the mind has sunk deeper, the pressure-sensors communicating changes in the body's liquid pressure system, and the subtle stretching of the muscle-fibers accompanying elastic forces.

In meditation with the body not moving we mainly listen for changes of pressure and warmth, which can be influenced by changes in the body's energy field.
