Here are the detail pics of one the latest custom bikes to roll out the studio. The DONNA dressed up as a streamlined and reliable commuter in a beautiful bright metallic blue. This color is making a strong comeback. If you went custom, which color would you choose?

Stefanie was growing tired of her repurposed race bike and decided she needed an upgrade. On the top of her list were a more comfortable position, dynamo lights, permanent fenders, and a nice pannier for ditching the back pack. Lucky for us that is our specialty! Of the three step-through frames we offer, DONNA appealed the most. To retain a bit of the sportier look she liked so much we went with slimmer tires and fenders. The pannier bag is the heliotrope roll top from our good friends .goods Matching and trench coat purely coincidental, but totally on point! 🤩 Enjoy the ride!

Few things are better than a bright and sunny handover. Especially if you’ve patiently waited an extra week because of manic spring weather! Cornelia wanted to replace her bulky dutch bike with something lighter, faster, and more touring capable. She went with LAUREL in metallic bronze, elegantly combined with dark brown touch points and copper logos. Enjoy the ride!

the LAUREL was the most popular step-though last year. New frames will hopefully be coming before summer, but why wait? This one in metallic turquoise is ready-to-ride right now. Spring is here. Don’t get caught walking!
These bikes are always assembled with the same attention to detail and style as our custom builds and small upgrade/change requests are usually not an issue either. Check it out!

No time, no patience, no custom? No problem!
We always have a small selection of “ready-to-ride” bicycles available. Take this BRUNSWICK singlespeed for example!
All these bikes are assembled with the same attention to detail and style as our custom builds and small upgrade/change requests are usually not an issue either.

Occasionally we get inspired to build a stock frame into something we’d ride ourselves and this AMHERST sport we recently finished is a shining example of just that. The smooth ride, responsive geometry, and single gear are perfect for navigating the urban landscape in pure form and style. But hey, if you want gears, no problem. The frame accommodates hub gears or derailleur too!

If this bike tickles your fancy, then you better be quick. Test rides can be booked via our website. We think it won’t be around for long.

When building a custom bike the customer’s budget dictates a lot of component choices. We know that splurging on the best isn’t always an option, and for a lot of builds that isn’t even necessary, but it sure is nice when that does happen. Case in point being the PALISADE we built up recently.
High-end components aren’t just made from better materials, but they often fit better and are more serviceable, making them a good long term investment. For this build they hopefully ensure some peace of mind and fewer issues further down the road.

Hand-built wheels are an essential piece of the custom bicycle. They require a delicate hand, a lot of patience, and a still mind. Our good friend Michael is a human encyclopedia of bicycle knowledge and has been building our wheels for many years. This shot was recently taken in front of his workshop when doing a pick-up.

Our curiosity for details often extends beyond the norm. Exploring new colors and finishes is also very much part of the process. The most subtle feature of this PALISADE build has to be the seemingly unpretentious matt finish, that actually holds a hidden secret for which the sun has the answer. ☀️ Pearlescent matt purple, craftsmanship with a dab of alchemy. 🧙‍♂️

FYI this bike was ordered through the leasing scheme and we’re a premium partner! If you’re interested in a new bike, check with your employer about leasing opportunities. Freelancers can also lease a brand new bike too.
But don’t wait too long. Custom bicycles require a bit of planning. 😉

The first of the year and it’s a good one!
Damian has been supporting the shop since we opened the doors in 2015. He has a diverse bicycle collection and is a fan of quality, lightweight components.
Last summer he approached us about building a new bike and the spec was intriguing and totally on brand: 1” threaded fork, wide tires with fenders, disc brakes, and a front rack. Immediately we pitched something brand new we had already been thinking about for many years. We drafted up the design and sent it off to the framebuilder in Italy. A few months later the PALISADE step-through was born! More detail pictures coming…ENJOY THE RIDE!

The seat stay bridge is one of our favorite frame details and maybe the most overlooked. Because the PALISADE is offered with cantilever/ V or disc brakes, this piece really only serves as a mount point for the fender, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful. The bridge is carefully curved to match the fender radius and a threaded boss is brazed underneath, offering a clean attachment point. Careful consideration has been given to it’s position, ensuring an nice fender line with only one leather spacer. Diamond window reinforcements on the inner stays add some finer aesthetics and added strength. Details matter.

By now you know we love purple bikes, so naturally we were stoked when decided on our original pearly deep purple matt for his PALISADE step through. We’re so happy with how this turned out and cannot wait to show you the complete build very soon.

Raw beauty!
the PALISADE represents our dedication to frame design and the craftsmanship. All frames are designed in house, then the drawings are sent to a small, reputable factory in Italy where a master craftsman cuts and brazes the tubes into a frame!
This frame here is an all new PALISADE step-through prototype we made this summer for a customer. It’s made from Columbus Zona tubing and features fillet-brazed construction. It even goes a step further than previous versions with 55mm clearance for 700c tires/fenders.
Final build coming soon.

We’re always searching for new and exciting colors and finishes. If you order a custom bike with us you can be sure there won’t be a lack of unique options. Just look at Ilke’s LAUREL here. The finish is deep purple matt with fine multicolored flakes and a sandpaper like texture. And those dark brown touch points, swoon!

❄️Hey hey snowy day! ❄️
The first snow arrived already last month, just as we wrapped up this BRUNSWICK. While the snow didn’t make for the best test riding conditions, it sure made a pretty backdrop for some pictures.
A fast and capable commuter build for Gert. Deep emerald green with a discreet mix of black and silver parts to give that modern classic touch we love so much. Alfine 11 internal gear hub, Brooks Cambium kit in mud, premium dynamo lights, and a slim rear rack for panniers.

The AMHERST is the most diverse step-through in our range. We offer it in 3 styles (sportive, touring, and city) and each one has a different frame design. Here we show you a city model we built for Gerti from Munich in November.

Ordered in 2019, picked up in 2023. To say we had other plans for delivering Daniel’s new bike would be an understatement! But we never lost hope.
The frame hung in the workshop for 2.5 years and then one day he reached out, saying he’d be in Berlin soon. We immediately seized the chance to finish the bike and see both of them off back to the big apple. This project holds first place for longest one to date and I doubt it will ever be topped. But hey, please don’t challenge us on this!
All in all we are glad it ended well and are super stoked to think this bike is cruising around New York City, a place we know well ;)

Photos from Santucci Cycles's post 11/01/2024

Sometimes we get requests for something totally different to our standard frames. Because we design everything in house and work closely with our framebuilders, we can usually make it happen too.
Daniel approached us in 2019 with specific ideas about a minimal porter-esque build he envisioned for commuting in New York City. For example the frame should take a specific front rack (not pictured) and handle a front load well. He also wanted 32mm tires, track dropouts, and no eyelets front or back. The BRUNSWICK made a good blueprint for this design, but we still had to tweak a lot to get it right. We worked with him closely to get the design dialed and produced, then the pandemic hit. Production got delayed, intl. shipping prices skyrocketed and the project was put on indefinite hold. Part 2 tomorrow!
