The Bruisers FLINTA* Team played the first tournament of the Regionalliga 7s season today on a beautiful pitch in Velten, in our new group combining Berlin with new teams from Saxony and Thuringia. The day began with a loss against last year’s Deutsche Meisterschaft particpants , who always set a high level and show us what we still can learn.

Next the team played the new-to-them , and after a difficult first half, with a really strong second half performance, the Bruisers showed they were growing into the tournament and learning, despite a loss.

That growth continued with a very close game against .rugbyjena, who made the team fight for every meter! With massive effort and some spectacular breakthrough runs and tries from new players and old, the Bruisers managed a win!

And it wouldn’t be a Regionalliga tournament without a game between the Bruisers and . No matter how tired, both teams put a huge effort into this Berlin derby. The Irish impressed with great skills and won, leading to a 6th place overall finish for the Bruisers. We thank Irish for this tough game, always played with smiles, and also for the loan of one of their coaches, .o.mahony, to help guide us through the day. It’s a privilege to have such a great Berlin rugby community!

Next up, the Herbstpokal on 12 October, hosted by RK03. See you there - we can’t wait! 💜🤍
