Unfortunately, Romarna Campbell can no longer perform at the Kiezsalon this Friday. We are sorry and hope to have her next year. Stepping in is Berlin-based polyrhythmic drummer Katharina Ernst.

Katharina's artistic practice transcends the boundaries of music, fine arts and choreography, embracing a hybrid approach to composition that explores various forms of expression.

Konzertempfehlungen für Berlin: Folkig und verzückt Der Kiezsalon kehrt mit Folk in den Prenzlauer Berg zurück, das Trio Extra spielt bei Jazzexzess und fastmusic stellt sein Minimal-Pop-Debüt vor.

We are looking forward to having Tokyo-based string player and composer Atsuko Hatano this Friday at the Kiezsalon.

She crafts intricate, multi-layered electronica with her five-string viola and is also the driving force behind the collaborative project Triola, whose album 'Scapegoat' featured contributions from Jim O’Rourke and Eiko Ishibashi. She is playing along Svitlana Nianio, Katharina Ernst and Shed.

We hope to see you this weekend for the penultimate Kiezsalon of the year. On Saturday, we'll focus on Irish music as part of Zeitgeist Irland 24, featuring Berlin premieres by blues revivalist Muireann Bradley, synth-pop musician Henry Earnest, and newcomer Conor.

We are also reopening our bunkers for an exhibition showcasing woodcut printmaker Ireland 3000 and light installation artist Helena Hamilton.

Next Friday, 4 October, East German techno storyteller René Pawlowitz will DJ at the Kiezsalon.

Under the moniker Shed, with releases on Monkeytown and Ostgut Ton, he merges rough dance floor skeletons with detailed melodies, harmonic structures and airy arrangements.

We are looking forward to tomorrow's concert by Scottish smallpipe virtuoso Brìghde Chaimbeul at silent green. She is a leading exponent of experimental Celtic music and the Scottish “smallpipes”, bagpipes with a double-note drone. She will also perform on the last day of MADEIRADIG on 3 December.

On October 5th, fingerpicking guitarist and rising star Muireann Bradley performs at our Irish Kiezsalon.

Her 2023 album ‘I Kept These Old Blues’, released on Tompkins Square, was praised by The Irish Times as an “impressive and hugely promising” debut.

Finally, here is our MADEIRADIG 2024 program! As Berlin slowly turns cold and grey, now is the perfect time to plan a winter escape to the sunny paradise island of Madeira.

Nachdem sie im Januar ihre Spielstätte verloren haben, freuen wir uns, ihnen ein temporäres Zuhause in Berlin bieten zu können.

Im Exil präsentieren Sie den audiovisuellen Künstler Wojciech Rusin bei seinem Berlin-Debüt, die Turntablistin Mariam Rezaei und die Singer-Songwriterin Martha Skye Murphy.

Long-time collaborators Paul Jones & Stephen Black perform as clarinet/piano duo Group Listening.

Their recent album ‘Walks,’ their first work of original compositions, is an ode to the gently psychedelic potential of wandering in one’s own mind. They play at our Kiezsalon in 2 weeks at MaHalla.

Kiezsalon returns at the end of this month for a full two-day program, featuring co-curator I K L E C T I K. Among the performers includes award-winning composer and turntablist Mariam Rezaei.

Her 2023 album ‘Heat Crimes’ charted in The Wire:, and was named one of the top ten albums of last year by The Quietus.

Reinterpreting songs from their youth in rural Emilia in Italy, Silvia Tarozzi & Deborah Walker delve into themes of labour, love and societal hypocrisy. After their breathtaking performance at our MADEIRADIG in 2022, I am happy to finally welcome them to the Kiezsalon.
