Falling squarely into the anti-folk category by way of a manipulated, punk-y violin, Roxy Rawson has been a cult presence on the Parisian and London music scenes with her unique blend of impish violin vocals and classical/ jazz influence. I'm so grateful to be playing a show on my birthday, July 8th, in London at Green Note with my dear friend Erika Olson & special guest Roxy Rawson. Last years b-day was a real doozy and it feels great to replace it with such an epic solar return! The show is part of our Friends Like This Tour in Ireland & the UK, and my watery, cancer-y heart will be so happy to spend part of the summer alongside foggy ocean!
Real talk: I know exactly 1.5 people in London 😅 - would you share this show with any friends of yours who are in the area?

ART NOUVEAU EXHIBITION ✨ in Berlin
I highly recommend it! Art Nouveau developed at a time when man made things were taking over our lives through industrialization, as a reaction against the increasing distance from nature. Hence all the beautiful organic, natural shapes. Inspiration from the mystery of natural beauty, including the beauty of women and sacredness of feminine energy.
I'm greatly inspired by this era and the art that came out of it and my sister .r.holly is helping me craft outfits that take inspiration from this era and others to help communicate my values, which are that we are all magical, vulnerable human beings and that the full range of our feelings deserve to be expressed and celebrated, taking inspiration from the wonderful Maya Angelou, that 'nothing human is alien to me'.
The Ho'oponopono prayer:
I am sorry. Please forgive me.
Thank you. I love you.
💕
WHAT A SUNSET✨
I feel this evening the sun setting on the last day of the sometimes frenzied activity of my life this last year, living this urban life.
I still love it here. I'm super grateful to be here and I still feel Berlin is a gift that keeps on giving.
So much has happened this year, internally and externally. I've gotten clear on my path and the work I need to do in the world. I've gotten clearer on my values and what I seek in my friendships/ relationships.
I've been weaving my way through the complexity of a fuller life and how to find balance and body connection in the midst of being busy. For me that often looks like scaling back at times to reconnect with myself and source of safety, home and truth within.
I'm grateful for my friends and what I've achieved this year, internally and externally. I also acknowledge I need to find even more balance and carefully manage my life so that my body's wisdom and wellness comes first.
That might look like scaling back even more to ensure I stay connected with my body's wisdom, and to take time to enjoy and savour the process of living.
Of course it's important to have goals and to work to deadlines, but really what is the point unless we're enjoying the journey of life along the way.
I want to keep enjoying my life, notice my senses and trust them, appreciate the sun on my face and the strength of my body✨💕
It's still such a gift to be able to live a fuller life, to read, to walk around outside, to catch a deep breath, to cook and eat well, to breathe deeply, to listen to beautiful music, to know other people and to hold them, to dance and to sing. I look forward to what the next year may bring ✨🥰
Hi there, I'm playing a show with these excellent musicians next Friday, come join us if you'd like an evening of wintry femme folk
Hello 🤗 my dear friend Melanie is making an album and is seeking some financial support on Kickstarter. I've heard some recordings already and they are sophisticated and beautiful, this project is very worthy of support! Check out her page if you're interested to see if you'd like to support her 🙏💕✨ link is in her bio
I'm very excited and honoured to be supporting 's album release show next Wednesday November 8th at Maschinenhaus!
I heard their band earlier this year at Zigzag and they totally blew me away, complex sophisticated rhythms and soaringly beautiful vocals and violin/ viola solos.
It will definitely be a performance to remember!
Ticket links are in our bios, we hope to see you there!✨💕✨
I'm excited to play with the wonderful to support her single release and to also share the stage with talented on Oct 26th at Barkett.
Here is a little bio for each of them to have an idea of what's in store:
Helsinki-based artist Emmi Kujanpää, renowned for her expertise in Finno-Karelian and Balkan folk music, has achieved international acclaim through a series of band albums and her solo masterpiece, "Nani" (Nordic Notes / Sibelius Academy, 2020), created in collaboration with the Bulgarian choir Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares Vocal Academy.
Kujanpää's artistic vision revolves around themes of femininity and transgenerational experiences, which she conveys through her compositions and music videos, utilising vocal ornamentation, traditional lamentations, and dissonance.
Both her latest albums, "Nani" and "Villoi varsa," have earned recognition on the World Music Chart Europe and received high praise from Finnish media. With over a decade of international engagement in Finno-Karelian and Balkan singing, Kujanpää's ability to blend traditions with diverse line-ups and transcend genre boundaries, has left an indelible mark on the folk music landscape.
Teika is the exciting brainchild of Berlin-based singer-songwriter Mateja Kert. Musically grown up in the Irish underground scene, her music is a melting pot of British Romance and dark Americana, p***y vibes with a dollop of desert and swamp.
Inspired by the likes of PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Kate Bush, David Bowie and Nick Cave, Teika just finished recording her debut album. Her debut single, OVERDRIVE, has been released on 22 September. Her second single, THE GARDEN, will be out on 27 October 2023. Her songs combine fine songwriting with existential lyrics and are put forward by her truly unique voice, heartfelt and fragile, belly deep and growling. In her current live-set she sits at the keyboard/piano and is supported by Georg Kostron on bass and sampler. Prepare to enter a bittersweet powerhouse stuck in a grumbling volcano.

Hi everyone, I have a new video being released on Monday and wondered if you could help me by leaving a comment? 🙏🙏
Roxy Rawson at Kiremico Sessions - LEKATO - Riverside Studios The newly released live session video of the LEKATO Session was recorded by Kiremico Media at Boiler Room in the city of Berlin - Riverside Studios. Our Wire...
Finished a second comp of ‘f**k my maybes’ this eve. Wow what a ride. I have learnt a lot from this song. Both on a personal level and also in my singing technique.
It’s a song both about reckoning with the self, but also reconciling and standing in the validity of being everything we are, including our perceived mistakes and failures. Which are unfortunate, but are part of being human💔
I wanted to craft a vocal that contained within it a sound that communicated the words with compassion, but also confidence. For this I had to learn how to do full length falsetto, which requires a lot of support and twang in CVT talk.
There’s so much to learn and the deeper I go, the more I feel aware of how much I don’t know. And yet, I know some things. And that there is more to learn motivates me and makes me curious🧐 🥰
My melon planet from today.
I bought it while procrastinating singing my last album vocals. Maybe I don’t want it to be over. But when it’s all done, there will be more. There is always more music:) so no reason for me to be afraid!
Just sharing this on here in case anyone in my music network knows anyone who could benefit from this.
Part of my experience healing from chronic illness has been the humbling experience of growing the capacity of my heart to meet myself exactly where I’m at.
It can seem counter intuitive to love a body that is in pain, but the paradox is that when we can hold space for our pain, meet ourselves deeply exactly where we are, that pain transforms.
If you’d like to learn the process that helped me to heal from a disabling chronic illness, you’re welcome to attend an introduction class on May 16th at 9pm CET.
This will be followed by a 12 week course for those who’d like to develop this loving work with themselves to heal.

Oh the joy of just a tree💕
Perhaps this is my new religion:
We have not come here to take prisoners
But to surrender ever more deeply
To freedom and joy.
We have not come into this exquisite world
to hold ourselves hostage from love.
Run my dear, From anything
That may not strengthen
Your precious budding wings,
Run like hell, my dear,
From anyone likely to put a sharp knife
Into the sacred, tender vision
Of your beautiful heart.
We have a duty to befriend
Those aspects of obedience of our house
And shout to our reason
"Oh please, oh please
come out and play."
For we have not come here to take prisoners,
Or to confine our wondrous spirits
But to experience ever and ever more deeply
our divine courage, freedom, and Light!

20 years ago I moved to Paris to study. It was the first time I felt actual joy as an adult. I had two years full of happiness, studying classical music, surrounded by stunning classical architecture and wonderful friends. It fills my heart to go back💕
I’m looking forward to sharing a concert with and on April 6th at Barkett, Czeminskistraße 10, 10829 Berlin 🥰
Happy international women’s day💕
I’m grateful for all the incredible women in my life💕
I’m grateful to all the incredible people in the world who work to ensure equal rights for all women, regardless of sexuality or skin colour.
I’m grateful to all the women who came before in previous generations throughout history who fought for the freedoms I enjoy today.
There is always further to go in terms of gender equality and equity, but I’m glad to live in a time when I have the right to vote, when I have the freedom to use my voice and (broadly) live and love how I would wish. I am not free from internalized patriarchy or white supremacy, but there is space to at least question and learn. I am grateful for that space.
I have had a clarifying week. For years in my inner work, I have been playing with the idea of what it feels like to be received where I am at and to receive others where they are at.
We are all working with our awareness you to this moment in time. However there are clear lines in the sand for me.
If it is absolutely not possible, for someone to allow and make space for my imperfection, I choose not to have those people in my life.
This leads me to thinking about what I want to communicate through my music, what my values are. And the amazing musician whose song ‘Hi Ren’ hit me in the heart this week and I could not say what I stand for better than his speech at the end of his song. I highly recommend watching his internally poignant video whichi will share in my bio.
Here is what he is that is pretty aligned with my own personal manifesto:
As I got older I realised that there were no real winners
Or no real losers in physiological warfare
But there were victims and there were students
It wasn't David verses Goliath, it's was a pendulum eternally
Swaying between the dark and the light,
And the brighter the light shone, the darker the shadow it cast
It was never a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance,
And like a dance, the more rigid I became the harder it got
The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps the more i suffered
And so I got older and I learned to relax,
And I learned to soften, and that dance got easier
It is this eternal waltz that separates human beings
From angels, from demons, from gods
And I must not forget, we must not forget, that we are human beings.

Today as I taught a class on compassionate body listening, I was reminded of the parts of the landscape I witnessed on Monday. Wild and craggy, ugly and chaotic in some places as nature made bundles of mess (so much so that at times it looked manmade😅). Slightly fascinated by this ugly beauty I took pictures of the more intense moments I noticed.
We talked today of how our inner landscape is a varied wild place that contains undesirable aspects of our experience: pain, imperfection, survival patterns, dysregulation, resistance, undesirable physical symptoms, but that there are powerful resources alongside them. Our compassion, our presence and our body’s wisdom.
And when we use those resources to be with the wild undesirable craggy parts of our landscape, and see them with a soft gaze, we can begin to see them as simply part of a vast uniquely beautiful landscape.💕💕
