Welcome back to our history journey. Last time we entered the 90s, and today we want to take a closer look at the second half of that decade.

The second half begins with a significant achievement: Yukihiko Yasuda, the company's president at the time, was awarded the "the Medal with yellow Ribbon Award" by the government for his diligence and perseverance in inventing a high-precision machining center.

During this period of growth, YASDA developed four new machines. The well-established YBM series continued to expand: the YBM 660 N machining center was introduced in 1996, followed by the YBM 1218 CNC jig borer in 1998.

But that wasn't all. In the same year, YASDA developed its first CNC gear grinding machine, the GT30, marking a new direction for the company.

As we approached the end of the century, YASDA celebrated its 70th anniversary with the introduction of the H30i machining center, the forerunner of today's H40i machining center.

In recent years, industries such as medical, IT, automotive, connector, optical, plastic injection and many more have experienced significant growth. With this expansion, the demand for smaller and more precise molds and hard milling for micro molds has increased dramatically.

These molds require smoother surfaces, finer corners, greater precision in each dimension and faster milling times. YASDA's advanced micro machining solutions, including the YMC 430 and YMC 650 3-axis machines and their 5-axis counterparts, the YMC 430+RT10 and YMC 650+RT20, meet these high demands.

Since 2009, our YMC 430 has set a new standard by eliminating ball screws and using linear motors to achieve ten times the positioning accuracy of our YBM V series. Today, the YMC 650 continues this legacy of precision with our original RT20 tilting rotary table for unparalleled accuracy.

Welcome back to our journey through history! Today we look at the vibrant era of the 1990s. As we approach the present, let's explore the significant milestones of the early 90s.

During this period, YASDA's YBM series experienced significant growth. In 1992, YASDA introduced the YBM 1000N machining centre, a significant advancement in precision machining. The same year also saw the debut of YASDA's first five-axis machining centre, the YBM 900N-T-T, which set new standards in innovation.

In addition, the YBM 700N machining centre was introduced in 1992. Two years later, YASDA launched the YBM 640V, a state-of-the-art vertical machining centre known for its exceptional performance in die and mould machining. Today, the YBM 640V, now in its fourth version, continues to evolve and adapt to meet and set new industry benchmarks.

In the same year, YASDA also developed the YBM 600N machining centre, further strengthening its commitment to cutting-edge technology.

After a short break, we are pleased to return with our "Journey through YASDA's History" series!

In 1986 we saw the development of the YBM 850 V CNC jig borer. This was only the beginning. In 1988, two more machines were introduced to the enduring YBM series: the YBM 8120V CNC jig borer and the YBM 900N machining centre.

The late 1980s also marked a significant milestone with the development of the self-adjusting preload spindle, a feature that continues to define YASDA's machines today.

A successful factory tour was held for customers from the Netherlands and Belgium. YASDA was pleased to welcome 25 customers from the Netherlands and Belgium, including our trusted dealer De Ridder, to our factory and headquarters in Okayama, Japan.
It was an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate our precision 2µm machining centres and our key process, hand-scraping, which helps to sustain longer geometric accuracy even after many years of use.

Following the tour, we had the privilege of visiting Yamaichi Special Steel in Aichi Prefecture.
This time, we not only demonstrated the process of manufacturing precise machines at YASDA, but also showcased how YASDA machines generate profits for our users.
Unfortunately, the trip came to an end.

Our design department recently had the opportunity to visit the IKV- Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University. During our visit we had the opportunity to exchange ideas and engage in technical discussions with experts in the field of plastics processing. It was a great experience, full of insightful conversations and innovative concepts.

The company joined the Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association in 1960, marking its entry into the national arena. In the following year, YASDA demonstrated its commitment to innovation by introducing its automatic honing machine.

In 1962, the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency recognised YASDA as a model factory for small and medium enterprises. YASDA received the award for five years in a row. During this time, they established their first research and development laboratory at the Tomioka factory.

In 1964, YASDA introduced the YBM 50 J, a horizontal high-precision boring machine, which further solidified their reputation for precision engineering. Two years later, the company achieved another breakthrough. They developed the YBM 80NR, their first machine equipped with an NC (Numerical Control System) machining centre. This was a significant advancement in precision machining technology.
