Despite my promise to keep this site up to date, I didn't really keep up. So here is a little wrap up of what has been happening the past months: In February, have been to Iceland for a second time this year for streaming Goldberg Variations with Víkingur Ólafsson for Deutsche Grammophon's Stage+, in cooperation with Icelandic radio RÚV. The concert was streamed in Dolby Atmos, and the immersive mix was done by the wonderful people at Emil Berliner Studios live from Berlin. Then, I had some great recording sessions with Calmus Ensemble in Leipzig (to be continued), and a short organ recording with Gewandhaus organist Michael Schönheit. Plus the usual editing and some more updates in my studio room. Oh, and a Döner with Fanta cost me 16€ in Switzerland. So, that's all the important info I guess.

Of course there have been some recordings going on since my last post, but this one was quite an adventure for a very bad driver like me. Just came back from La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, with Işıl Bengi .

Finally home after my first recording of the year, once again in Iceland (where it was warmer than in Leipzig). See you soon, !

I haven't posted here for quite a while because of work, work, work, so here comes a little update.

This fall will see the release of several projects that I've had the pleasure of overseeing as a Tonmeister, all of which have now been announced. Deutsche Grammophon will release three albums this fall that I've had the pleasure of producing/engineering: Bach's Goldberg Variations by Víkingur Ólafsson, recorded in April in Reykjavík, an album by Alice Sara Ott with works by Beethoven, for which I had the pleasure to record the solo pieces in March in Berlin, and an album with orchestral works by Jóhann Jóhannsson, produced with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Daníel Bjarnason in the fall of 2021 together with my dear colleague Piotr Furmanczyk in Reykjavík.

Prizes then: Since my last "real" post, the last album by Víkingur Ólafsson , "From Afar", won an Opus Klassik, and the album "Heimat" by Daniel Behle and German Hornsound (both released in 2022) was just included in the longlist for the annual awards of the German Record Critics' Prize.

Starting in the later fall, I'll be taking some time off to spend more time with my son before he starts school. So if it gets (still) quieter here, it's because of that. Until then, I'll try to stay a bit more up to date here.

"O tempora, o mores!" ("Oh, the opening times of the customs office!"). Travelling to Iceland again this week for a recording that I am much looking forward to. And of course the journey starts at the customs again.

On one of those secret missions, recording piano solo in Berlin.

The album "Heimat" by tenor Daniel Behle - Tenor and the horn quartet German Hornsound is nominated for the German Record Critics' Award ("Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik"). The CD appears on the so-called long list, the quarterly publication of nominations by the jury. Congratulations!

As my favorite piano-themed coffee mug and I delve into a Sunday listening session, I'm pleased to see Víkingur Ólafsson's latest release getting so much attention.

It's been named Editor's Choice by Australia's Limelight magazine, Album of the Month by International Piano magazine, Classical Album of the Week by the UK's Times, Album of the Month by Stereophile Audio magazine, has made it to the top of the classical music charts in the UK and as high as #28 on the German pop album charts.

I am happy that the work is being heard!

A nice walk through autumnal Leipzig this morning and what a beautiful day to celebrate today's release of two double albums both of which I had the pleasure to produce/engineer: "From afar" by , a very special album with the same repertoire recorded twice (Steinway & Upright), out on today!
