Another little piece for on Saturday. I had a lot of fun with the sky on this one and had a lovely reference from a group I am in on facebook.

A little piece for on Saturday 😍 Wasn't too keen on this cold pressed paper I tried today, it's definitely more suited for Watercolour than my solid Gouache colours and shapes. I'll use it again, but not with Gouache.

Never again will I paint Gouache on stretched canvas 😅 and I have to try to carefully remove this from the frame and get it stuck flat on something. At least it's ready for postcards 🥰

I changed my mind, it wasn't finished 😅 but it is now! Just got to get it scanned in at my local Copyshop (shoutout to who are amazing 😍) and then it'll be one of my next postcards to be printed next month 🥰 for now here is the best photo i can get

Hello folks 👋 I am Remi. I'm a 36 y/o Gouache artist from England and I live in Leipzig, Germany, with my wonderful partner and the reason I moved all the way here. I love bright colours, solid shapes and the interplay between them. My artistic journey started as a result of being stuck inside a lot due to chronic illness. I've been very creative since I was a kid. My Mum is a brilliant graphic designer and encouraged creativity in me a lot when I was young, but my interest was mostly in writing and music when I was in my late teens/early 20s. My chronic pain got bad and making music with others was challenging, so I ended up turning to visual art. I'm a very emotional person and I need to express that one way or another!

I started with Watercolours and some brushes that my Granny gave me. I tried for a long time to get the sort of solid colours that I use today, with Watercolours, until someone introduced me to Gouache and I just fell in love! I do sometimes paint with Acrylic and I have started to enjoy Watercolours again but in a different context.

Outside of my artwork - I am a non-binary/genderfluid person who loves to cook, spend time in nature, watch nature documentaries and indulge in as much quality fiction that I can get my messy paws on. I also love to upcycle, including making tiny robots and other miniature stuff like dioramas and sometimes tabletop gaming terrain. I'm passionate about q***r and disabled rights, environmentalism and human rights. I most closely align wth Anarchist philosophy and Taoism.

Hey folks, thought you might be interested in my process when I am working from a photo. I used to just do all this in my head, but this is not only more fun but also less stressful cause I have an idea of where I'm going with my colours before I start.

Images are in reverse. Starting from the end - Took a photo, saturated it and changed a bunch of colours to balance my composition, then I started digitally sketching colours of the sky and the first image (last part of the process) was to digitally simplify all the shapes with colours mostly taken from the saturated image I made from the photo. Next step is to paint it!

I have done this with quite a few pieces now and it seems to be an established process now. I don't usually take so many screenshots of each stage but I did this time so I could show you. I'll post some more digital colour sketch/finished paintings too 😁

I started this in 2022 not realising that the way I have come to paint with Gouache, with very liquidy paint in many layers, would really not work on canvas 😭 Generally, it's a bad idea to paint Gouache on canvas cause there is a real chance of it cracking over time and it's really hard to protect the painting (unless you get a super thick glass frame) but my main issue here was that I rely on the paint soaking in and it does not. Lesson learned, will not do again.

I've painted Gouache on canvas before but never with this liquidity.

Last year I posted this and was determined to finish it but got all frustrated again. I'm getting some new postcards printed atm and really got very motivated to finish this. I will do a proper scan and some devent photos when I can, but for now I am satisfied it's finally complete 😁

Hi all, I need your advice please!

I want to buy some more stickers to sell at art markets. I only have enough to buy a few designs. I have one rectangle already and I want to get a round one and a square one. I am a bit torn on which circle design to go for, these stickers will be about 8cm in diameter.

Which do you prefer? Let me know in the comments 🥰

Gotta be honest with you, this was a fu***ng nightmare 😅 I am not particularly good at drawing, or understanding perspective and this piece was a learning curve for me cause well.. I don't practice drawing enough and I really should. I got myself some coloured pencils so it's less boring for me, but I also need to force myself to start sketching more so processes like this are less daunting and stressful.

I got there in the end and I am pretty pleased with it. It was fun to try a new colour palette (don't tell anyone but I actually enjoyed painting brown 😅) Had a bit of a meltdown doing the floor reflections cause I got an opinion from someone when I thought I was done that made me overthink the whole floor bit so I spent another three hours trying to fix that, crying, cursing and taking some deep breaths 😑😌

I added in my chaos process photos again so you can see...well idk what you will interpret from them 😆
