TRAINING WITH CHILDREN IN THE GOLDEN AGE OF LEARNING

Every coach on the D-Junior team has heard the term “golden age of learning”! But what is behind this? Children are at the age where they are very interested in new football content and can learn many new moves in terms of their agility. The trainer should use this to practice the basics in a systematic and fun way!

1V1 - INCLUDING AND IN PROTECTION

There is no doubt that 1v1 offensive is one of the most important basic skills in football! But defense also requires attention: even the youngest can train their behavior against attacking opponents in possession of the ball in order to be able to limit their sphere of influence.

This article presents the various basic 1v1 defense situations in more detail: https://www.dfb.de/trainer/d-juniorin/artikel/im-1-gegen-1-der-sieger-sein-auch-defensiv-3450/

LIGHTING AND DELIVERY PRACTICE IN CHILDREN'S FOOTBALL

Cover and delivery are central individual tactical aspects of defense. These topics can already be learned in children's football and give children the opportunity to take big steps in their development. We show you what to consider and do an interesting training practice.

The art of defense

There are basically two ways to protect your opponent. On the one hand, this is a classic "male cover" with the aim of constantly exerting pressure and with each pass to involve the recipient of the transfer in a duel. Anyone who knows how to anticipate and intercept passes early on with this form of defense becomes a "nightmare" for every striker.

On the other hand, issuing passports is an effective way to keep your opponent out of the game. A service is to cover the passage between the owner of the ball and his teammate. A service occurs when a defender is positioned between the ball and an unused opponent so that he cannot be played with and is in what is known as “shadow of cover”.

Opinions were divided on which option was “correct”. However, we can say for sure that both tactics are justified and can convey important aspects of the game to children at an early stage. There is no only "black" and "white"! Rather, it is necessary to focus on the situationally correct decision about the appropriate remedies, which children succeed the better the more often they are faced with problems in the relevant situations.

"Stick to your opponent!"

The benefits of consistent male coverage are almost obvious. In one-on-one duels, a smart and reliable duel is important. Anyone who is afraid of physical contact will always fail. Thanks to strict distribution, children learn early to take responsibility on the field and deal with dueling situations with pleasure and determination. Every player challenges and gets better with every action. Even in basic defensive fundamentals, such as defense between the opponent and the goal (on the "inside line") and using the body according to the rules of the ball, you will see progress quickly.

"Learn to read the game!"

Delivery requires very different skills from actors. First of all, you must have a very good game intelligence to use these individual tactics effectively. For example, it is important to develop a good sense of distance: the defender should not get too close to the owner of the ball, nor should he stand too far away, in order to increase the chances of success.

The shorter the distance to the owner of the ball, the more the covering shadow is created, but the attacker can just as quickly disappear from the field of view. To avoid the latter, it is very important to look over your shoulder. The defender must always keep an eye on the ball and the opponent in order to position himself correctly. Thus, the goal is to create a one-on-one duel from the point of view of the defender, while providing passes from a one-on-two situation. At the latest, as soon as the owner of the ball strikes for the pass, the defensive player must wake up and intercept the pass.

NEW FORMS OF KIDS FOOTBALL ENTER THE EXTENDED PILOT PHASE

The sparkle of children's eyes, the enjoyment of football, the personal experience of success, as well as the improvement of individual playing skills are the goals pursued through the new forms of play in the age groups from U6 to U11. The concept also represents a further joint measure for the further development of the training and talent promotion system in Germany. Following the first trial runs, the youth model G, F, and E will enter the next pilot phase in the 2019/2020 season, involving ten state associations across the country. In addition, there is the Bavarian Football Association, which has been testing new forms of play for a number of years and is now introducing them further.

In fact, the new forms of play allow for a smaller team size on a smaller playing field. In G-Jugend, two-by-two or three-by-three games are played with four mini-objectives. In F-youth, three for three is also recommended, previously in E-youth there was a constant transition to five to five and seven to seven with a small field goal and a goalkeeper. To minimize the need to compete and focus more on the athletic development of children, there will be no championship rounds in the appropriate age groups with the new model. Instead, tournaments with multiple teams and playgrounds are planned. The experience with the tested changes is very positive.

“Children learn the core values of football even better”

“Each child is involved in a variety of ball-related activities,” says Dr. Hans-Dieter Dreitz, DFB Vice President for Youth Affairs. “Children play a game that suits their abilities and interests. And: Children learn even better the core values of football, namely fair play, enjoyment of games and overcoming victories and defeats. This is not only for the individual sports development of children, but after the 2019 Amateur Football Congress, it will also strengthen all football and its clubs on a grassroots level. "

Children implement the rules of the game as independently as possible - as they got used to for years from the fair play league in the younger age groups - the referees are not on duty. Coaches and supervisors act as tournament directors and should only intervene when necessary. This concept also means that teams are regularly rotated during games in accordance with the principles of fixed rotation so that each player has ample working time.

"Football in a new design, child-friendly"

Markus Hirte, Head of Talent Promotion at DFB, explains: “The new design makes football more child-friendly. Because: the larger the group, the less the ball contacts individual players, the pleasure and the chance for further development are lost. In addition, in children's football, tactics are often applied too early, which affects the teaching of the basics of football. This has been shown by many studies. New forms of play are designed to counteract these problems. "

New Forms of Play is a pilot project that will be expanded for the new season. The intensification of the testing phase is intended to help collect additional empirical insights with associations, including with regard to organizational aspects, so that adjustments can be made if necessary before the concept can be rolled out nationwide. The new model is currently an alternative, the previously practiced forms of play among young people G, F and E are mostly still possible in the 2019/2020 season. “In the end, children will decide what to do next because of their enthusiasm,” says Markus Hirte.

PLAYLY TRAIN COMBAT BEHAVIOR

The fight is a basic football situation that many children find difficult. Many are hesitant to look for the ball, attack the responsible player and win the ball. In training, it is important to relieve children of the fear of duels. One-on-one play situations, multiple successes and motivating competition ensure that all children learn to navigate the ball game and assert themselves in one-on-one combat.

LET THE VARIETY PLAY

Bambini is very fond of games, exercise and adventure. The coach can breastfeed first, giving the babies enough free time to play with a lot of heads. Secondly, through the use of many different sequences of movements that can be easily integrated into exercises. And the third - with the help of a small frame that illustrates the game lesson in a child-friendly manner.

Raik Eisenreich manages to combine these three disciplines. He is the coach of the still young Cologne club Bäng Boom Bäng Ballfieber Colonia and chooses a structure that needs only minimal changes during the game. Great advantage to save a lot of time. He also prepared a fascinating pirate story for children that lasts the entire game hour. Being able to play the role of a pirate is fun, and playing football is fun too.
