As we said last time Pilates is an amazing way how to maintain good posture. This weekend we are organizing with Senso a wonderful workshop with one and only Blossom Leilani Crawford.
The theme of the workshop is “Before the Hundred”. Blossom assisted Kathy Grant's matwork class at NYU for 10 years. In that class, Kathy developed a vocabulary of warm-up exercises that came before starting the traditional Pilates matwork. Before the Hundreds are the building blocks to doing the traditional Pilates vocabulary. This is the heart of Kathy's work.
The exercises have a huge stylistic range, but can be easily assimilated into your teaching. Before the Hundreds includes warm up movements that will mobilize, deeply strengthen your abdominals and enhance your body awareness. After this workshop, you will have a new tool kit to get in tune with your body.

I would say that the text neck is one of the biggest posture issues of these times. It is always good to have this little posture hack in my “mental suitcase” 😉

When I learned how to use my feet properly I started to walk a lot to practice the correct position of the three crucial points. Carolyne’s voice was with me on every corner. While standing on the lights it was whispering into my ears: “Lift your arches up!” Or when I was on the walk with the dog there she was again…

First we started with the feet, since they are the foundation of the good statics of the human body. As of childhood I had flat feet which resulted as well in imbalance in the hip area and scoliosis.

It all begun in November 2019 when I met Carolyne and she introduced me her concept of the Posture School. It resonated with me so strongly that I scheduled a session with her the coming week. We started from the bottom and step by step improved my body posture. Here in the video you can see how I changed within one year. I am as well talking about the reasons why I started. I have been observing my mom a lot lately and there is something cooking! She was talking a lot about shoulder and neck pain.
She is preparing a workshow or something like that! She will be showing her work online so it must be workshow!
Or did I understand shop? Work shop? Hm 🤔?

Today I would like to talk about sitting. I learned how to sit properly quite quickly, as you can see in the video. No surprise since my mommy is an amazing teacher and she knows what’s best for me. She picked the best trainer who is showing us how to respect and understand each other.
While observing my mommy I learned that if you sit too long your hip flexors, or something like that, are shortening and your shoulders tend to close. This leads to a pain in between the shoulder blades, neck and lower back. Therefore it is very important to sit UpRight!

My name is Leїa and I am Gordon Setter. I live with my mom Caro. She is a classical Pilates teacher and the founder of UpRight! Mindset Posture School. I was born on November 20th 2020.
My mommy was dearly thinking about having me for ages and when she saw me she could not resist and brought me home to our beloved Berlin. Every day we are enjoying our life together and she is teaching me and many others about posture. She is correcting their imbalances in the body mechanics, whatever that means, so they are always leaving the session happy and full of energy. They are looking forward to their next session even though they always get some homework.
I love to observe my mommy while she is teaching because she is enthusiastic and funny.
I am the lucky one because I get my posture classes every day, I already learned how to SIT properly.
I can pay with cuddles which is a total win win situation 🐕😜
She even says that I am a great inspiration for her. I made her think how to use the belly muscles correctly while lifting me up, since for the first few weeks I was not supposed to walk the stairs.
She says that having me is the best thing that ever happened to her and she is showing people how to have a healthy posture while walking the dog. I love the walks in the nature because I get my daily dose of a vitamin D, she says that this is very important. Also I am very proud of my mum when I see her walking in an excellent posture because she is living what she is teaching.
