Goyo Montero who will become the new Ballet Director at the Staatsoper Hannover in 2025. He will assume the position at the start of Bodo Busse’s tenure as Intendant. His contract has an initial term of five years. Bodo Busse expressed his happiness about securing Goyo Montero as the new Ballet Director for the Staatsballett Hannover, noting that Montero is among the great figures in the ballet scene and has received numerous international dance awards. As a choreographer, Montero, who originally trained in classical ballet as a dancer, constantly explores new forms of contemporary ballet, ranging from narrative story ballets to abstract choreography. His creative musical research often sparks surprising and aesthetic dance innovations. With extensive connections in the dance world, he also curates an exciting international repertoire alongside his own works.

Here we are: the new issue of our magazine!

To dance a title and a dream role like Onegin is a unique experience. Jakob Feyferlik, the sensitive and elegant principal dancer of the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, shares with our correspondent Anna Beke the intensity and challenges of his role debut.

In this issue, we also introduce you to three top ballerinas. Susanna Salvi, principal at the Opera House in Rome, reveals to Alessandro Bizzotto her personal feelings, new dynamics, and even a darker side of her nature. Isabella Gasparini, the first soloist at the Royal Ballet, discusses with Vikki Jane Vile her dance debut and graduation, as well as her studies in literature. And Ksenia Ovsyanick, principal ballerina at the Staatsballett Berlin, defies stereotypes by transforming failures and difficulties into steps forward. She explains to Svetlana Avakuum why being free is the most important thing.

The General Directorate of Turkish State Opera and Ballet, the only professional academic ballet institution in Turkey, is proud to present the 6th edition of the Istanbul International Ballet Competition. This prestigious event will take place from 10 to 14 June in Istanbul, the vibrant crossroads of Europe and Asia. The competition will culminate in a gala performance and awards ceremony at the newly opened AKM (Atatürk Cultural Centre), further extending the global reach of the art form. We are proud to announce that Iana Salenko , Marian Walters and the Grand Prix winner of the 5th edition, Bahtiyar Adamzhan will perform at the Gala Night.
Promising young dancers will compete in front of a prestigious jury and be given an invaluable opportunity to showcase their talent. The organisers would like to express their sincere gratitude to the talented artists and dedicated technical team whose contributions make this magnificent event possible. We extend our best wishes to all the participating dancers and look forward to witnessing the emergence of future ballet stars.
