Last week our school welcomed Staatssekretärin Sandra Boser to our Degerloch campus. Frau Boser was given a tour of both our upper and lower schools, visiting classrooms and interacting with students.
To finish her time with us, Frau Boser sat down with a group of students and parents to discuss how truly special our community is.
Thank you to our Students and Parents that welcomed Frau Boser and shared about your experience in our community!

Last Friday, School Director, Tim Kelley, welcomed Colyn Heinze,
Bezirksvorsteher von Degerloch (Mayor of Degerloch-Stuttgart) to ISS and gave him a tour of the new Degerloch building.
It was an honor to have Herr Heinze visit our campus and looking forward to welcoming him back when the new building is finished.
In April, students from schools in Łódź (Poland), Užventis (Lithuania), Ourense (Spain) and Sindelfingen (Germany) visited the European Union Parliament building in Strasbourg! They came as ambassadors of European Youth - your voice will be heard!, a collaborative school partnership project funded by the EU's Erasmus programme, that the schools collaborated on for three years. For this project, these young people mixed music, wrote lyrics and performed a unique song and dance about what it is like to be the youth of Europe!
Please share this exceptional project to make today's European youth heard!

Ein Dreifach Hoch!
Despite inclement weather, April 20th was a day of celebration. The new building is moving forward by leaps and bounds and with the completion of the roof it was time for the traditional topping out ceremony (Richtfest).
The beribboned tree on the rooftop, the tireless workers responsible for the completion of the building shell, the planners, representatives from the world of business and local government, together with other invited guests were all subjected to wind and rain, but nothing dampened the spirits of the foreman who gave the traditional rhyming address (Richtspruch). Cries of “Hoch, Hoch, Hoch” accompanied his lubricated message of thanks and goodwill and all were excited to see the new spaces in the building and enjoyed the traditional refreshments of sausages and potato salad in the new theater.
ISS welcomed over 400 delegates to the 16th annual Model United Nations Conference with guest speakers from the US Foreign Service and the European Parliament. The chosen theme for this year's conference is “the balance and distribution of power in the world” focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16: “Peace Justice, and Strong Institutions.”
A Model United Nations (MUN) Conference is a simulated session of the United Nations in which the participants adopt the role of Delegates to the UN. In simulated UN bodies, for example the Security Council or the General Assembly, the delegates debate international issues, reach compromise solutions and then pass resolutions.
Thank you to all who attended the BBQ event in honour of our graduating class. With this small gesture, we wanted to congratulate our students on their IB journey so far and thank them for their valuable contributions to our learning community. We hope that they enjoyed the food, music, fun/sport-related activities, and atmosphere that we prepared for them. Once again, congratulations and for those writing IB exams, we wish you the best of luck!
Once again, our Sindelfingen students were out engaging in learning activities within our local/regional communities – all part of our learning beyond the classroom initiative. Students in Grades 8-10 went to Stuttgart and focused on the issues of homelessness and defensive architecture.
The organization Trottwar offered a tour and insights into the situation of homeless adults and young people in the Stuttgart area.
Quotes from students about the trip included “I had not been expecting that there were so many homeless people in Stuttgart, especially so many teenagers – more than 1,100 teens” and "An eye-opening experience”.
