Finally! Introducing co-director and performer of ‘It’s a Real Coincidence’ .o.carroll

Gráinne O’Carroll is an artist, director and performer born in Dublin. She studied Visual Art with specialisation in Textiles Art at NCAD in Dublin and at Khib in Bergen, followed by a diploma in Physical Theatre at Centro Moveo in Barcelona.

Introducing NEILOR MORENO, who as part of the ‘It’s a Real Coincidence’ team is mastering all the trades on theatre💥from lighting tech to featuring as a performer, and assisting in choreography. Here’s a little about his background and training:

Neilor Moreno is an actor, theater director and occasional technician born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Graduated in theater performance at “CAL – Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras” (Rio de Janeiro – Brazil), Physical Theater at the Moveo Center (Barcelona) and “Performing Arts & Social Action” at Institut del Teatre, (Barcelona). His training includes: Lecoq methodology, contemporary dance, clowning, acrobatics and dramaturgy.

He is an actor for Cia. Moveo (Moritz FiraTàrrega 2017 award for “Conseqüències”); director of the show «Migrante» (Cia. Seme una Tontería) with which he has won various awards (best play and best direction at the IX Barcelona independent theater festival “Mutis 2018”).

SOPHIE KASSER: Co-director of ‘It’s a Real Coincidence’ ✨

Creator, director and pedagogue, Sophie leads multidisciplinary projects through research processes and collaborative ideation. She has founded and is the co-director of the Cia Moveo in Barcelona with which she has been touring awarded project internationally for 20 years. She has led projects for the Grec Festival and the Professional Dance Conservatory in Barcelona, the University of Applied Sciences in Finland, the Speech and Drama School in London and the International Physical Theatre Festival of Chile, among many others.

“It’s a Real Coincidence”

July 18 & 19 in Cologne & July 20 & 21 in Wuppertal. 🔥⏳

This performance has been devised to be materially light on its feet and adaptable to diverse spaces. 🔮🎲

So far it has been performed in a converted textiles factory .artsvisuals + in a black-box theatre in Paris + in a 1980’s school hall on an island off the west of Ireland. In September it will go to Mallorca, and this July the team will come to Germany (!!) to present it in a former horse stables in .koeln and in our gallery - which was a former grocery co-op in the 1950’s, if you didn’t know! 🐛🦋

During the development of “Its a Real Coincidence” in Western Ireland at arts centre, in Mimesis Festival Paris and Spain, the co-directors facilitated workshops and interviews with a group of local women, artists and an art conservationist. 🌋

Some of these conversations, gestures and traditional irish songs have been woven into the choreography and soundscape. 🌍

It’s a Real Coincidence co-directed by Sophie Kasser and Gráinne O’Carroll will have its German Premiere this July in Cologne and Wuppertal, and we are delighted to be hosting two shows at our gallery!

These performances take place under the umbrella of a national-wide program of events all over Germany celebrating contemporary Irish culture in 2024. With more than 120 events taking place across 100 cities in Germany ‘It’s a Real Coincidence’ is one of three events within the program in Wuppertal!

Five artists from Ireland, Switzerland, Brazil and Spain have joined forces to create a special form of physical theatre for you. 🌎

For the Wuppertal premiere, we invite you to the gallery on July 20th and 21st from 20.30-21.30 🔮

Here you can immerse yourself in a realm of theatre, dance, light and live music - be enchanted by a female form that tries to regain the ground beneath her feet in absurd sensuality.

We are very excited to invite these artists and 𝘆𝗼𝘂 to join us for these two nights of magic and movement-craft in July! ✨

Unsere Künstlerin im Dezember:

Hallo, mein Name ist Meike Wilkens und ich lebe und arbeite in Wuppertal. Durch meine Kunst erforsche die faszinierenden Facetten des Sehens und nicht Sehens. Medienübergreifend experimentiere ich mit Unschärfe oder fokussiere mich auf Klarheit und Details. Durch meine starke Sehschwäche bin ich sensibilisiert für das Zusammenspiel von Licht, Schatten, Tasten und Sehen. Meine Neugier, gepaart mit meinem unstillbaren Streben nach Neuem, führt mich immer wieder unweigerlich zur Entdeckung neuer Techniken und Ansätze.
