AAU Space Robotics
AAU Space Robotics Team
Tuesday the 27 of august the team at AAU Space Robotics where at the Nordjysk Ehverstopmøde together with AAU Space where we talked about everything space. We presented all of our different projects and tried to inspire people with what we are doing. Thanks to DI - Dansk Industri for the great event. 😁
Did anyone say competition? 🥳
Because we are super excited that we are going to the European Rover Challenge this September.
The AAU Space Robotics team is ready but also excited for what’s going to happen at the competition.
We have worked hard for many months at Aalborg Universitet, but the rover is ready and functional, and fingers crossed that we are going to achieve great things.
We have some exciting news. Please make a drumroll….🥁
We at AAU Space Robotics are proud to announce Tuborgfondet have decided to support our space rover project.
Tuborgfondet is an organization that supports young communities, projects made by young people and much more. We are so proud to have them on our team and we hope to achieve great things in the future.🚀
Remember the big things we wrote about in the last post? Today, it’s happening… 🚀
We have been making enough noise with our qualification to the , that the news station TV2 Nord reached out to us, and wanted to make a segment about us and The Rover in the afternoon news!!
We had a lot of fun showing what The Rover is capable of, and we even got to test some new features 🤩
So tune in tonight at 19:30 PM on TV2 Nord, and watch as we show The Rover in Action!! 🦾
I’m working laate, cause i’m a AAU Space Robotics member 🎶🎵
Not quite how the song goes, but I think it fits better than the original 🤷♂️
Most of our time these days is spent working on The Rover, making modifications and printing parts that actually fit (we made 2 left-sided parts instead of one left and one right 🙃). Besides that, we’re working on the final report before the , which gives a more indepth look into our expectations and the final product (The Rover) 😴 After that is done, the only thing left to do is complete The Rover and mentally prepare for the competition. Sounds simple enough.
Look out for the next couple of weeks! Some big things happening behind the scenes that we’ll share soon 🤫 But for now we will leave you with this picture of a couple of members from the team being hard at work 🤓
Most people during AAU Space
summer holidays: Robotics:
Even though most people are traveling the world enjoying their holidays, we are hard at work in the shop these days. But that's okay, because the danish weather as it stands right now, is constantly pouring down 😭 So it's not like there's anything to do outside anyways🤷♂️
Luckily for us, to keep us dry, we were given a space to work in, and have since moved The Rover, its arm and the team in there 📦 This for us, is a big upgrade, since we now have our own space to work in, and don't have to share it with others 🚀
It's with great pleasure that we are able to announce... drum roll please... 🥁🥁
WE QUALIFIED FOR THE ERC2024 !!!
We're all super excited by the thought that we will be competing in Poland in the near future 😄. But this also means we're going to have a very busy summer, tweaking and polishing the Rover, so it's ready to compete with the big guys 💪
Thank you to everyone that have been with us and supported us this far 🥰
Hello. I know we haven't uploaded in a little while, BUT we have a good explanation, pinky promise! 🥺
As you've probably seen in one of our previous posts, we have been filming some content for the event organisers, in preparation for the upcoming event taking place in september 🤩
Earlier today however, the video was finished and is now ready for the world to see! 🥳
We hope you like it 😄

Is it just me, or did it just get a bit hotter outside? ☀😎
We hope you've been enjoying the sun as much as this little guy 🙄
The team has been pretty busy with writing their semester projects, so The Rover haven't gotten as much playtime as it normally would 😪
But not to worry, because soon everyone will be done with their projects, so the work on The Rover can recommence 🤩
Untill then, enjoy the sun while it's here (and remember sunscreen (we DID put some on The Rover, if you were curious (Yes, he still got sunburnt)))

Photoshoot anyone? Smile! 📸
Yesterday the team gathered to shoot some content for the event organizers, as well for you guys! 🤩 We spent the entire afternoon filming and was pretty exhausted when we finished 😮💨
The content consisted of the rover cruising on some hills, and enjoying the highlife of being a robot 😎 (plus some half boring, half rolling on the ground laughing content from the team🫣)
We are working hard on the rover as of late, but more updates will follow, soon 😁
Believe it or not, WE'RE ALIVE!
Since the last time, the team has been busy with modifying the Rover, straining the spaghetti code and a whole lot more exciting activities, that we will be posting about here, and on our LinkedIn page;
https://www.linkedin.com/company/aau-space-robotics/
In the past week the team was invited to a workshop at Aalborg Universitet, where the time was spent telling visitors about the project, and what our time is spent on ⏰
Besides our booth, the workshop was filled with other exciting teams, who was willing to talk about alot of different topics, including how to work together as a young team of aspiring space enthusiasts 👨🚀🚀
Look out for the upcoming weeks, because we will be posting a heck of alot more, than we've done in the last 3 months 😅
Today the team had the first "All hands on" meeting this year where the overall progress of the rover was discussed.
After looking through the new European Rover Competition tasks for 2024, it was decided to begin work on an autonomus drone to fullfil the new task requirements.
Many new parts have also arrived and the construction of the robotic manipulator arm and hand can now begin.
If you or someone you know is interested on working on this project with us feel free to reach out or join us at our next "All hands on" meeting 5th of March at 16:00. The meeting will be held at Fibigerstræde 14.
This is the last update this year. The team has gone on a well-deserved holiday and will be back next year with a lot of exciting stuff. 2024 is going to be a fun but busy year getting the rover ready for the ERC.
From the entire AAU Space Robotics team
“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”
These last couple of months the team has been working hard on getting the rover back up and running after making some fundamental changes to the entire software structure. The process of designing a robotic manipulator arm is also under way while the electronics team work on redoing the wiring on the entire rover to make room for new modifications. These are exciting times!
Even though we did not qualify for The European Rover Challenge this year, we have still been active developing the rover for next years Rover Challenge 🚀
One of our team members was also out to show future programmers from Coding Pirates about how we are going to colonise Mars with Rovers 😎
This Monday, we had our first initial meeting for European Rover Challenge, we had an introduction to the ERC tasks and the AAU Space Rover and we are excited for what the future will bring us 🚀
