Introducing Meejah x HIRAKI

Meejah and HIRAKI have been circling around each other for a while. Their individual musical outputs share a blend of experimental genre references that cannot be categorized precisely but dwell in the noisy underground.

They debuted their collaborative efforts live last week at Basement in Copenhagen to excited reviews.

Tobias Holst from selvtægt magazine noted that »it is like something out of a cyberpunk scenario.«

»The bands infect each other. Hiraki become more dreamy. Meejah become more frenetic and the transitions are sublime.«

HIRAKI and Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah have also performed at Roskilde Festival, Roadburn and most recently Copenhell with doom rave trailblazers JOHN CXNNOR – who are also on the bill for Lasher Fest 24.

Introducing Embla

Embla is a five-piece post-hardcore band based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band formerly known as We Are Among Storms was formed in 2016 and released the album ‘The I In We’ under this moniker in 2021.

The band is heavily influenced by the duality within mankind and its both symbiotic and destructive relationship with nature. Channeling this into the music gives Embla a unique, energetic and chaotic, yet serene and atmospheric output.

Embla consists of current and former members of The Psyke Project, Nordsind, Myrkur, Église and Meejah. The band have built themselves a reputation as an intense, emotional and ferocious live act on the Danish underground hardcore scene.

Introducing: Demersal

Demersal is a hardcore/screamo band that explores intense emotions of frustration and emptiness through a raw and aggressive sound.

Their music fuses the frantic energy of chaotic hardcore with atmospheric post-rock, and the lyrics are delivered through powerful yet vulnerable vocals.

The band recently released their second and self-titled album, which has earned praise from international media outlets like Stereogum and BrooklynVegan. An album that explores the importance of care and the notion of being there for each other in times of crises, as a way of dealing with a world in decay.

With multiple European tours under their belt, Demersal has shared the stage with acts such as Portrayal of Guilt, Pupil Slicer, LLNN, EYES, SYL and Omsorg.

Introducing Crowbar

Kirk Windstein, the legendary bearded frontman of Crowbar, and of New Orleans supergroup Down, knows the recipe for his distinct brand of metal.

For nearly three decades, the name Crowbar has been synonymous with heavy music. Since rising ominously from the swamplands of New Orleans in 1990, they have been hailed internationally as one of the world’s foremost purveyors of crushing, melodic sludge metal.

The band is considered to be one of the most influential metal bands to come out of the New Orleans metal scene. Alongside bands like Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Acid Bath and Down, the group helped establish the revered NOLA sludge metal movement throughout the early 1990s. Their slow, low-keyed, heavy and brooding style of metal influenced not only sludge, but also doom and stoner metal early on.

The group is worshiped by the heartbroken and downtrodden, those who exorcise their demons in smoke covered riffs of mournful devastation.

We are stoked to welcome them at Lasher Fest 24.

This week we got the sad news that 1000Fryd hero Anders Wested died. Anders was the person that coined our name Tusindfryd, he was the first manager here, and he was an overall good guy. If more people were like Anders, we would have world peace.

When our rebuilding is done here, we will leave a picture of Anders under the floor, so he will be a part of Fryd forever.

Rest in power!!
