Let's discover together the 4 reasons that are responsible for this!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most common type of lactose intolerance. It occurs when the body produces insufficient amounts of lactase, the enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose. Primary lactose intolerance is typically an inherited condition and is more prevalent in certain ethnic groups, such as individuals of African, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American descent.
Occurs as a result of an underlying condition or injury that damages the lining of the small intestine, where lactase is produced. Common causes of secondary lactose intolerance include gastrointestinal infections, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, and chemotherapy.
This is a rare, genetic form of lactose intolerance that is present from birth. Babies with congenital lactose intolerance are unable to produce any lactase and cannot tolerate breast milk or standard infant formulas that contain lactose.
In some cases, individuals may experience lactose malabsorption without exhibiting typical symptoms of lactose intolerance. While lactose is not fully digested, it is still absorbed to some extent by the body. This condition is often referred to as primary adult lactose malabsorption.

We often focus on the physical discomfort and dietary limitations of lactose intolerance. But have you considered its economic implications?
For example, ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ๐-๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ค can be up to double the price of regular milk in some countries. A liter of lactose free milk per week could add up to around $100 more to your annual grocery bill.
Over-the-counter ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ can cost about $10-20 per month, totaling $120-240 per year.
Frequent ๐๐จ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ to manage symptoms often add hundreds of dollars to annual healthcare expenses. And ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ก ๐๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค due to discomfort aren't as easy to quantify but also contribute to the financial burden.
