On the Derawan islands off East-Borneo in Indonesia, local rangers patrol beaches on a 24/7 basis to ensure hatching turtles reach the shallows safely, guiding and watching over them from start to finish.

Because of this, baby turtles are given a fair chance at life, beginning their journey as they safely (and slowly) make their way through the sand into the sea.
