🎵This week let’s introduce Amalie 🇩🇰

Hi! I’m Amalie from Denmark and I have been a soprano in the CBS choir since fall 2021.

- Why did you join the CBS international choir?
I decided to join because I have been singing in a choir for most of my life and I wanted to join one again after moving to Copenhagen. I love singing and playing music in my free time and I enjoy singing with others. I have been part of other choirs before, but these were not as social as the CBS choir. I really enjoy this aspect and I love the fact that we’re so many people. Also, I love that this choir is international and the energy is amazing when we sing together.

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
My favourite part of being in the choir is to sing with all these great people. I enjoy attending our choir days and learning more about singing techniques. Also, I love when we finally finish learning a new song and we are able to sing it at one of our concerts. It’s such a great feeling when everyone gives a little extra during the concerts!

- Why people should join us?
You should join the choir because you can meet a lot of lovely people coming from all over the world. If you love music, singing and learning new things, you should definitely join us!

🎵This week you’ll get to know Henning 🇩🇪

Hey! I’m Henning, from Germany and I am a bass in the CBS International Choir.

- Why did you join CBS international choir?
I joined in early spring of this year after a friend of mine had told me about this choir she was singing in and how much fun it was. I still felt relatively new to Copenhagen, and I remembered the good times I had singing in my high school’s choir. I had been looking for an opportunity to get back into singing for a long time, therefore this just seemed to be the perfect opportunity.

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
One of my favorite moments will always be when a new song, especially with some tricky parts finally “clicks” and you can bathe in the sound and you understand, - no you feel - what it was always meant to sound like. Goosebumps guaranteed.

- Why should people join us?
The choir has a lot to offer! Singing together is an incredible connecting experience, and Wednesday’s rehearsals can give you an energy refill in the middle of the week. Which really helps, especially during the colder and darker seasons in Copenhagen. The way you get to meet and talk to people from all over the world and share this passion with them is also a unique experience which can be reassuring, especially if you are a “foreigner” and the city is still new to you.

🎵Introducing Katalin 🇭🇺

Hi! I’m Katalin and I joined the choir as a soprano in the Spring semester 2023.

- Why did you join the CBS international choir?
I have been singing in different choirs starting in my local primary school, continuing my hungarian/german billingual choir of my highschool and then for a year in the Bard College Berlin university choir. So when I saw an instagram post about the CBS Choir I was super happy to join. At that time I was also new to Copenhagen and it seemed the perfect place to be.

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
I have two favourite things: the first is, the songs that we sing and how amazing they sounds when 130 people sing together. The other one is the social aspect of the CBS choir and the new friends I found through it.

😂 Bonus fun fact: The first person I saw on my very first time entering into the auditorium during an open rehearsal reminded me of a dear friend of mine from Budapest. Later it turned out that this girl was also Hungarian and now we became friends ✨

The CBS International Choir would like to wish you happy holidays!🎄❤️

Since we can count more than 30 nationalities among our members, we invite you to comment below with your Christmas wishes in your native language 🌍

If you are interested in joining us, keep your eyes open as we will post more information about our open rehearsals after the break! We look forward to starting rehearsals again in January! 🎶

🎵This week you’ll get to know Alex 🇪🇸

Hello, I'm Alex, from Barcelona, and I have been a member of the choir since 2017 as a tenor. I had some brief music and singing knowledge, but no previous choir experience 😄

- Why did you join the CBS choir?
I wanted to sing and meet new people as I was new in Copenhagen 😓

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
Definitively the social aspect of the choir and its relaxed environment. I've met most of my friends in Copenhagen through the choir. People are so nice and welcoming and it's even nicer to sing together! 🎶❤️

- Why people should join us?
If you're new in Copenhagen and like to sing, this is the perfect place to make new friends while singing cool songs 😎

😂 Bonus fun fact: During a choir weekend in a cabin, Voldemort kidnapped our conductor ⚡🧙🔒🙍🏻‍♀️ We were all very worried...😱 The Horcrux was the music sheets of "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran 🫚🎸. I tricked everyone as I was both Albus and Voldemort 😈✨

04/12/2023

🎵This week you’ll meet Lovisa 🇸🇪

Hi, I am Lovisa and I am an alto in the CBS International Choir. I joined in the Fall semester of 2022. I have been a part of several choirs over the past 7 years, but this is by far the biggest and most fun. 😍

- Why did you join the choir?
When I moved to Denmark, I missed singing together with others, which is something I used to do a lot in my home country. That's why I was very glad when I heard about this choir. Being a part of it has had many positive facets: it stimulates my creativity, makes me very sociable, and makes me feel part of something bigger, and, at least for me, harmonizing with others is often deeply spiritual.

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
A lot of aspects of being a member make me grow: doing service by being a member of the board, learning new ways of singing and learning challenging songs, getting to know a lot of interesting people from around the world, building new friendships, and having beers after rehearsals. Going to the choir on Wednesday nights is what I look forward to all week, and on my way home after rehearsal and a beer at Cafe Moccador, I am already looking forward to the next Wednesday.

- Why people should join us?
For all the reasons mentioned above! Especially if you are fairly new to Denmark, there's a very welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where it's easy to connect and do something fun together.

🎵 This week we get to know Konstantin 🇷🇺

Hi! I'm Konstantin and I joined the choir as a tenor in the fall semester of 2022.

- Why did you join the CBS international choir?
I have always loved singing and a friend of mine, who was already part of the choir, suggested to try it out by participating in one of the open rehearsals. From day one I knew I would stay.

- What is your favorite part of being a member?
My favorite part is the feeling when we finally finish learning a song and all the voices and parts come together in a really beautiful way. Also, I love the fact that we can share this beauty with everyone at the concert at the end of the season.

- Why people should join us?
The choir is a nice way to zone out from a busy day and do something that you really like with wonderful people from all around the world.

🎵This week let’s meet Aleksandra from 🇵🇱

Hi! I'm Aleksandra, but everyone calls me Aleks, I am an alto and I have been a member of the choir since 2018. When I joined I didn’t have any musical experience besides singing in a church and school choir as a child. And I definitely can't read notes 🤪

- Why did you join the CBS international choir?
I was new to Copenhagen, and felt like I needed to make new friends. I've always liked to sing so joining a choir seemed a like great idea to combine my interest with finding new friends.

- What’s your favorite part of being a member?
I love how social the choir is, it’s easy to meet new people and a great way to spend your Wednesday’s. Getting together, making music and singing for others at the concerts is really amazing. I love the feeling of being a part of something very creative.

- Why people should join us?
If you're looking for a great way to spend your Wednesday’s where you can sing together with others and find new friends - joining the choir is the way to go!

😂 Bonus fun fact: I recently discovered that me and one of my best friends, that I met through choir, have a picture together from one of the choir weekends, well before we became friends. Funny to know that back then we didn't know each other and none of us can remember being in that picture together! So you never know, maybe your new best friend is somewhere there and you just haven't talked with them yet!

🎵This week, we continue our Meet the Members series with introducing Emran🌏🎼

Why and when did you join the choir?
- In the spring of 2017, I joined the Choir for two primary reasons. Firstly, singing is a therapeutic activity for me, and I find immense joy in it. Secondly, as a newcomer to Denmark at the time, I sought opportunities to socialize and expand my network of friends. The CBS Choir, being an international and social choir, provided the perfect platform for me to interact with remarkable individuals.

What voice do you sing?
- I proudly sing in the Bass Group of the choir.

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- It has become my first and most cherished community since my relocation to Denmark. The warm and welcoming atmosphere embraced me wholeheartedly, making me feel at home. Our connections extend beyond the confines of CBS, as we often gather to celebrate birthdays, enjoy potluck dinners, and create lasting memories during Christmas evenings. I even had the privilege of traveling to Vienna for my first European trip with the CBS Choir.

Why are Wednesday rehearsals special for you?
- Wednesdays hold a special place in my heart, as singing together with fellow choir members instills a sense of healing and unity. Additionally, our post-rehearsal hangouts at Mokador foster a strong sense of community. This one evening recharges me with the energy needed to navigate through the challenges of the entire week.

- I am truly grateful to be part of this treasure trove of experiences and connections within CBS International Choir.

🎵Meet Duarte, a member from Portugal ✨🇵🇹

Why and when did you join the choir?
- I have been singing in choirs since middle school. When I moved to Denmark to study at CBS in the fall of 2019, the CBS International Choir seemed like a viable option. I have never left it since.

What voice do you sing?
- I am a Bass.

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- At this choir, I have sung iconic, long-lasting hits from mainstream pop artists and trendy songs which got viral due to digital platforms such as TikTok. One never knows what we will be singing next and I find magic in that.

Why are Wednesday rehearsals special to you?
- Wednesdays are the one day of the week I know I will never be home before 22 o’clock, but they are also the most relaxed days for me in the sense that I get to free up my mind from all the stresses of the week and to hang out with super cool people who share the same passion for singing and music as me.

Do you want to share a sweet or funny anecdote that has happened at the choir?
- Basically, one of our warm-up exercises at almost every rehearsal is to sing "du og jeg" down the scale. "Du og jeg" means "you and I" in Danish. What's funny is that, when the choir sings it, it kinda sounds like my name, "Duarte". So, at some point, people just adopted "Duarte" over "du og jeg" for that exercise, and everyone stares at me when we sing it.

18/07/2023

🎵 Meet Margherita from Italy 🇮🇹✨

Why and when did you join the choir?
- I joined the choir in the winter of 2021 while I was writing my master's thesis. I joined because I have always loved music and singing, but most of all I wanted to have a weekly fun activity where I could get to know new people who share my same passion.

What voice do you sing?
- I am part of the Soprano 2.

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- I love CBS choir because we sing very cool and current songs, it allows me to improve my Danish skill (as every semester we learn one song in Danish) and most of all, I get to meet so many friendly and diverse people coming from all over the world and having different current occupations.

Why are Wednesday rehearsals special for you?
- Three words: great songs, free snacks, and lots of mingling at Moccador.

14/07/2023

🎵 Introducing Chris from the UK 🇬🇧✨

Why and when did you join the choir?
- I joined in Autumn 2022 because I wanted to rekindle my musical side and do something that is relaxing and sociable.

What voice do you sing?
- Bass

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. It's a good mix of singing and socialising as we go to the local bar after every rehearsal.

Hope you are excited to meet another member next week!🙈😍

14/07/2023

🎵Get to know Graziana from Italy🇮🇹🌍

Why and when did you join the choir?
- I joind in the fall semester of 2021, and I did it because I love singing (obvious!) and because having had wonderful experiences in other international choirs during my exchanges abroad increased my desire to join also the CBS choir.

What voice do you sing?
- 2nd Alto

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- I love CBS International Choir because it gives me the possibility to do an activity that I love and get to know a lot of new and lovely people with whom I share the same passion, but with different and unique stories and backgrounds from which I always learn something new. So, not only I get to do what I love, but I also get new friends in return!

Why are Wednesdays special for you?
- For me Wednesdays are special beacuse they are my "Self Love Moments", that help me to release any sort of stress I've gained from the beginning of the week while also giving me a boost to end the week with more positive energy and calm.

Do you want to share a sweet or funny anecdote that has happened at the choir?
- One funny and, at the same time, sweet moment that has recently happened is when at one reharsal, before our conduct arrived, we started all together to do some "pre-singing and voice excercises" by ourselves, for the first time. It was funny because we were all goofly trying to remember how to do it without our conductor's guidance, but also very sweet because I felt we were working all together as a unite group to make it work. I was very proud of us! :)

14/07/2023

🎵Meet Mathilde Simoni from Denmark 🌍🇩🇰

Why and when did you join the choir?
- I joined in fall 2016, when I first moved to Copenhagen for Uni. I have always sung in choirs and I thought it would be a fun way to meet new people, when moving to a new city.

What voice do you sing?
- I sing 1st soprano.

Why do you like CBS International Choir?
- I like CBS International Choir because I get to sing with some amazing people once a week and at concerts. I also like the social side of the choir, hanging out after rehearsals, social events and after concert hangouts.

Stay tuned for more members to meet in our exciting series, 'Meet The Members'! 🎶✨
